grin grin grin grin one wonders if its compulsory to divulge your personal information? I think its pressure to fit in and be seen as a better somebody and low self esteem.

Buy hey, Nlnders lie like cheap carpert. grin grin But not every one though
Rogerdat grin you can say it's cheap and pressure to fit in. I think it's therapeutic in some sense.

I just finished reading a book. About social media and its impact on people's revelance and self worth. People crave that validation even if it's just momentary and from strangers.

Look at twitters, Instergram , Facebook etc I follow someone that literally update her weight loss everyday. That's a lot of pressure.

But you just said in a previous post that women should not necessarily desire a man or marriage. So why should we teach our daughters to desire marriage at all? Seems you not very sure of your own stand.

Feminism itself teaches women to be self sufficient in all things and not necessarily desire marriage. In order words, we need to stop teaching our daughters to desire marriage.

By the way, the right reason is very very subjective. What you think is right varies alot.
This is what Nigerians don't get about the "married Feminists".... I honestly see them as a Fraud. Let's say it as it is, Marriage is a sociatal status thing. Every woman desire marriage, the moment he puts a ring on it, your decisions are joint.

A feminist can wake up and travel to kafancha while a married woman can't. grin

I respect your own stance too. I don't believe masculinity is superior to femininity. Neither is a husband superior to a wife. The dictionary clearly explains what those terms mean. When we allude to the superiority of men, we allude to our inferiority.
However at the moment, since we live in a patriarchal society, are we just going to keep quiet? Absolutely not. We can start from what structures are put in place to protect womanhood? And how are they enforced? I cannot leave it in the hands of a patriarchal system that would rather I kept quiet because their egos are getting crush.
Thank you.

We can argue about those terms till blue on the face but as it stands in Nigerian culture Men are superior (in family setting) end off. Does that make the other gender inferior? It depends on how you envisage it. Motola jalade is a successful woman and not a feminist, so that automatically makes him superior right? is she inferior to him?

@keeping quite, absolutely Not. I believe we got our priorities mixed up here, what Nigerian women should clamour for is Female empowerment and Equal opportunities, FGM abolition , equal pay( if there's any).
Fighting for breadwinnership, control & power in marriage is the least of our problems as it stands.
Feminism never going to work. (Sorry I kept saying it).

Let's agree to disagree on this one. I'm a lady with few words. grin

I will tell you why. Because we see men as culturally superior to women. Don't you think something is wrong with this attitude and if we should look at the reversal statement on that premise it translates that females are inferior to males. Damn!
Hmm
I don't see anything wrong with the attitude. Superiority & Inferiority are both subjective terms.
Feminists made the word frivolous and berating.

I respect what you stand for though. wink

This is not a man vs woman thread and I would hate for this thread to decend to that. This is just a platform to express our opinion.

Why should a Feminist feel berated or small because she's not married , divorced and free?
Family › Re: Feminism: A Joke In Nigeria—for Now! by Ewuro4:
I really don't like discussing this topic but your post is catchy!

"The problem is not the gender , is the culture"

What does Nigerian culture depicts? Let's take a look at 2/3 commonly discussed examples..

1. Submissiveness in marriage.
2. Male superiority.

These ^^ are no doubt our culture in every region ... Soooo *sighs* what was your point again? Oh pay scale. That's just the least of Nigerian Feminist problems. For starters , they don't want to be answerable to anybody. Don't dictate what their choices should be. Simple as that. So in other words they have a cause. And that's just the tip of the iceberg but I'm making supper in between so no time.

And Please forget the pseudo feminists clowning around when discussing Feminism. Frankly, I don't take those serious atall. I call them 'shoe shiners'. When you see , hear & read a Feminist , you'll know. Period.

Add on: still on family. you're right , the acclaimed Feminists you mentioned in your original post do not have husbands. The married feminists are what Nigerians don't get. I pondered on the whole System and it is just not possible to be your own person in a working relationship, it's not. Every decision must be joint. So what's the independence in that? It's either you have an open marriage or remain single. Besides being related to as his equal, every woman wants to be treated like well, a woman. That's the dynamics of marriage under normal circumstances. I've read many articles about Feminist men and I don't see any form of endearment about them. The woman may as well stay single, hire a sperm donor and wear her well deserved T-shirt.

Do I believe in equal opportunities? Hell yeah. Do I believe we are equal Absolutely NOT. But that's just me.

Contd.

Then there's absolutely nothing wrong with that food portion. Put more stew ( vitamins, vegetables , fats& oils) next time to have a more balanced diet. And eat more fruits later to aid digestion that's all.

Men have an average of 50% more muscle mass than women and muscles requires more calories to sustain. ( Yahoo)

Don't let anybody's opinion ( office goons) downcast your self worth. Most of the large portioned heavy food we (women) post on NL were our husband's as men use up more energy than women. Also our body mass , same way you feed a two year old less than an eight year old diff food portions.

We have lunch rooms big mouthed goons all over the world so I'm not surprised. when I see a 6.5ft man, it's a no brainer to conclude what sustains his physique.

Nothing do you!
