The court of Appeal Kaduna has granted our prayers for the stay of Execution of the Judgment of the Federal High Court Kano nullifying the primary election of PDP Kano. PDP is still in the race.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate in Kano State, Abba K. Yusuf, will participate in the March 9 governorship election, following stay of execution order for a judgement delivered by a lower court.

On Monday, Justice Lewis Allagoa of the Federal High Court, Kano ruled that the PDP did not conduct governorship primary election in the state.

While delivering judgement, the Appeal Court sitting in Kaduna presided by Justice Daniel O. Kalio granted all the prayers put forward by the appellant.
The PDP sought a stay of execution on the previous judgement passed by a Federal High Court in Kano on the validity of the party’s October 2nd primaries.

The Appeal Court also restrained INEC from removing the name of Mr Yusuf and other PDP candidates from the list of 2019 contestants.

Responding shortly after the verdict, Mr Yusuf said he was not surprised with the outcome from the Appeal Court.

“As I always mention, the case mainly concerns our party and an aggrieved member who is working with the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in the state to remedy the fast-growing unpopularity of Gov Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, took the matter to court,” Mr Yusuf was quoted as saying so In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa.

The governorship candidate, therefore, called on his supporters and PDP faithful to keep their hope alive and come out en masse to vote for all the PDP candidates.

A PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Ali Amin-little, had approached the court, challenging the process that led to the emergence of Mr Yusuf as PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kano.

Recall that on October 2, Mr Yusuf, a son-in-law to former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, emerged winner of the PDP primaries after polling 2,421 votes to defeat his distant second, Jaafar Sani-Bello, who got 1,258 votes.

What is happening in this past few days? Court Sack everywhere looking like some kind of chess. Kano PDP mandate is definitely coming back. No one can stop the movement.

Though i didn't support anyone in this election, but there was a lot of rigging and malpractices in this election. Congrat to the winner anyway.

I do burst to laugh when ever I see PDP supporters in joy mood when ever they see the massive crowd pulled by kwankwaso......yes kwankwaso is loved by kanawan dabo due to so many reasons... but don't allow that to fool u....those people u are seeing are ready to vote for PDP in governorship election but not in presidential election....those leaving in kano will testify to that

You are right. That crowd is for PDP supporters at state level ready to take over the state from Ganduje. It's going to be really tough. I dont know why Kwankwaso has not been rallying round with the Atiku campaign train. Well, Kwankwaso is more interested in the state level and i see him doing a very good job. Kano will most likely be for APC at Presidential level, and PDP for State level.
