Pop music star and RnB singer Iyanya seems to have called it quits with his girlfriend Freda Francis. The ‘Kukere’ singer for the best of 2015 was in a relationship with Freda Francis. Even though they never declared their relationship publicly, the pair was seen at public events together on numerous occasions.

Let’s not forget that Iyanya shared several pictures of him with his girlfriend who is a skin care specialist on Instagram. Freda Francis also did the same. Recall that in 2015, there story seemed one of the best celebrity love story and it is sad that it has come to an end. Iyanya has reportedly unfollowed Freda Francis on Instagram.

Two people have died in Rivers state following the outbreak of Lassa fever in the state according to a report on Nigeria Camera website. Dr Odagme Theophilus, Rivers State Health Commissioner said the state government is making efforts to trace the source of the disease.

He urged residents to avoid all forms of contact with rats and rodents to avoid being infested. Lassa fever is a viral disease found in rats with 8 breasts. The symptoms include high fever, swollen face and mouth, nose bleeding and nausea. Lassa fever virus was first reported in Taraba state where one person died and two isolated.

Following the sack of Rafael Benitez as Real Madrid manager after just seven months in charge, the club have picked club legend Zinedine Zidane to replace him. Spaniard Benitez, 55, was relieved of his duties following a meeting of the club's board on Monday.

B team coach Zidane, 43, has been made first-team boss, but the length of his contract has not been made public. The World Cup winner said: "I am going to put my heart and soul into this job so that everything works out well." Benitez's final game was Sunday's 2-2 draw with Valencia, which left them third in La Liga, four points behind leaders Atletico Madrid.

Zidane, whose first game in charge will be on Saturday against Deportivo La Coruna at the Bernabeu, is the 11th coach to be appointed in Florentino Perez's 12 years as club president.

Though Spanish media expressed scepticism Tuesday about the prospects for football hero Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid coach after his sensational appointment. All said that Real president Florentino Perez was taking a risk naming the French World Cup “legend” who has no experience running a team of superstars.

Today is the birthday of Nigeria singer Oritsefemi. He turns 31 years old. Oritsefemi whose real names are Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele is best known for his hit song ‘Double Wahala’ released in 2013. He was born in Ajegunle in a family of 25. He is the third child of his mother and hails from Delta state.

Nigerian football recorded another tragedy on New Year day with the death of former Enyimba International goalkeeper, Chinedu Agwu who was pronounced dead after a protracted illness. Sahara Sport reports that the 29-year-old goalkeeper died few hours into the New Year, giving up the ghost after a long battle to keep his life. Agwu who was also former Kaduna United goalkeeper is the second player less than five days after the death of former Nasarawa United captain, Baba Idris occurred.

Late Agwu was a great penalty kick stopper as second choice goalkeeper, when Kaduna United upset Enyimba in a penalty shootout to win the Federation Cup in 2010, which later earned him a call-up to the Super Eagles same year.

Meet Nigeria’s first baby of 2016. He was born at exactly 1:55 am today at Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada. The adorable baby boy born to the family of Mr and Mrs Francis Elue from Niger State weighed 3.9kg.

The couple waited for nine years before the miracle baby was born.

Isn't This Cruel? Late Policeman Who Killed Twins & Self Dismissed, Family Forfeits N1.5m Entitlement

The Lagos State Police Command has reportedly announced the posthumous dismissal of the policeman who was reported to have shot and killed twin brothers and a friend before turning the gun on himself at a hotel in Lagos last week. According to a report by Punch Newspaper, the police officer, identified as Sergeant James shot the three male dead outside the premises of Paulson hotel in Ketu area of Lagos State.

It was further gathered that the deceased twin brothers were identified as Taiwo and Kehinde Oyesunle and their friend known simply as Jeje. Daily Post reports that the family of the deceased police officer stand to forfeit his N1.5m entitlement which he was entitled to for his 15 years of service in the force which had allowed him to attain the rank of a Sergeant.

A panel set up by the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, to investigate the killings, decided on the posthumous dismissal of Sergeant James. The panel is reported to have also revealed that the policeman had been on illegal duty at the hotel where the saddening incident took place, as he had been originally sent to guard a bank.

The State police command PPRO, Joe Offor, has reportedly confirmed the dismissal of Sergeant James to newsmen on Wednesday, December 30.

A car was reported to have burst into flames at about 10 am this morning, as it made its way across 3rd mainland bridge, Lagos. The rate at which vehicles are being involved in all sorts of accidents have been on a steady increase at a very alarming rate.

At the time the mini van was pictured, its had been burnt beyond recovery after it had burst into flames while in transit. We are yet to find out if there were any casualties from the incident. This is the second incident involving a car on third mainland bridge reported today.

As the year draws to a close, drivers and passengers are advised to make use of all precautions necessary, as they make their way to different destinations.

Aisha Alhassan, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Taraba state governorship election, has lost her bid to replace Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as governor of the state.

On Thursday, the appeal court sitting in Abuja ruled that the Alhassan had no locus standi – the right or capacity to appear in a court – to question the decision of the PDP. The Abdul Aboki-led five-man panel ruled that the PDP fielded Ishaku and he was accepted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with no complaints. INEC announced PDP’s Darius Ishaku as winner with 369,318 votes defeating APC’s Al-hassan who polled 275,984 at the ballot in April.

Though Aboki admitted the testimony of the INEC officer, who testified that the PDP primaries violated sections 85 and 87 of the electoral law, he said the APC had no locus standi on the matter. Of the five issues raised by the appellant, two were in favour of the APC and another two of the PDP; while the last issue on declaring Alhassan automatic governor after tribunal’s disqualification of Ishaku, was overruled by the appeal.
