bidexiii:Doesn’t the trekker have landing skids rather than wheels…?? And this helicopter seems to have hard points by the side that can carry gun pods or rocket launchers. I believe this is the AW-109M. |
Displays here and there, incoming platforms here and there. See as joy wan wound me. This nairaland is feeling too peaceful. Lurker4Long, GreenandGold, j115, all you saffers on this thread come outside. Show us your airforce’s display for this year or any new toys you are expecting ![]() |
bidexiii:The keel of both SDB IV & V have been laid since 2021 ooo. It’s 2025 no cabin, no deck, just the hull. Originally the expectation was that they would be commissioned alongside the incoming Dearsan OPV 76. But let’s assume Naval Dockyard was held back by budgetary constraints and lack of technical know how in some areas because as the SDB advances in series, the engineering becomes more complicated. These ones will be 46metres and a follow on, upgraded version of the NNS Oji. Hopefully when the incoming, 55metres Tuzla class patrol boat is commissioned into service, the SDB 6 will be based on it. And then after SDB 6 we can try our luck with license producing the Dearsan OPV 76. |
Mr Ramaphosa really handled this well. I aspire to have his level of calmness during tense situations like this. One wrong word or mistake in his speech and the likes of CNN would spam propaganda portraying S.A as anti-white. And the opposition party Minister of Agriculture did well to back him up without looking at differences in race or political affiliations. https://youtube.com/shorts/KGjFGjviwZo?si=0ukyqeU3nYSTEAkl |
[quote author=bidex111 post=135433584]More videos showing weapons & equipment carted away, Honestly weapons captured from this F.O.B is a serious setback, it will further fuel this terrorist attacks for years..... needs to be done about Nigeria’s Northern borders because it’s the spill over of terrorists resurgence in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger that is causing the recent setbacks in the decades long Internal security operations that security agencies have been involved in and all this started as a result of military intervention in government. AES said the democratically elected leaders are corrupt and working with France to destabilize their countries, now the situation is getting worse with each passing day. |

bidex111:This is a serious damage to the reputation of the Nigerian Army. In 2025 we still have military bases being over ran and equipments destroyed or carted away by non state actors with, lesser strength and lesser firepower. Is it reasonable to say the Nigerian government should take the Egyptian approach towards terrorism whereby the military is prioritized over all other national sectors in terms of finances and the military is invested in heavily regardless of how it affects the other sectors so as to quell this issue of terrorism once and for all. |
bidex111:I do hope the Dongfeng Mengshi CSK131 order is a local order to be fulfilled by EPAIL. There’s no reason to buy it from China again when it can be locally produced. I also noticed the order for the Camel MRAP which is NA’s nickname for the CS/VP-3 Bigfoot. I was hoping the Army would use the locally made Dodondawa IV to complement the Bigfoot MRAPs that are already in the Army’s inventory rather than procure more from outside. |
Delicious looking recruitment ad material All it needs is the caption “Join Nigerian Navy” at the end and it’s a chef’s kiss
|
bidex111:I’m just happy to see Dodondawa IV in action. Quick question though, are police personnels also involved in the internal security operations of Nigeria like are they Operating under theatre operations like the Operation Hadin Kai Operation Hadarin Daji and the likes. If yes, what is the average strength of the police contingent for each theatre operation. |
MiddleDimension:Yes South African defence contractors helped but we did most of the fighting and securing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kimbo5c0Ak?si=-kSxDRLQXMHD2eDS |
MiddleDimension:You forgot to mention the Tsaigumi UAV which is a follow on development of the Amebo and Gulma UAV. In fact the Nigerian airforce ordered 6 units of the Tsaigumi UAV some time around November 2023 https://armyrecognition.com/news/aerospace-news/2023/nigeria-air-force-integrates-tsaigumi-local-made-drone

andrewza:I’m guessing you got this info from the list of equipments of the Nigerian army in Wikipedia. Not all vehicles you see in that list are still in active service with the Nigerian army. The Nigerian army is very secretive about its inventory and procurements so it’s difficult to keep track of which vehicles are in active service and which are not. I would assume the Reva and Casspir MRAPs are not in active service because the last time we saw the Reva MRAPs on the field is as far back as 2015s during the Jonathan administration. Nowadays the most common vehicle on the field is the CS/VP-3 Bigfoot MRAPs and the DongFeng Mengshi CSK 131. As for the Casspir, due to its meagre number of 5, its likely the Nigerian army bought them to test them and see if they would be good on Nigerian terrain or if they would be able to work as expected of them. If anything, both Reva and Casspir have probably been cannibalized for spare parts or used in the developments of some of our locally made armoured vehicles. |
Odunayaw:Someday soon is probably today, Although it’s yet to be confirmed, I came across a post on X by Defence News Nigeria that the Cameroonian Gendarmerie has occupied and annexed some parts of Nigeria in the east. |
andrewza:In the 1990s, sanctions and arms embargoes were placed on Nigeria which had a lasting effect that caused the Boko Haram insurgency to be a difficult issue to deal with because many of our weapons systems that were of western origin then were grounded due to lack spare parts and we weren’t also able to purchase replacements. So in order to avoid future occurrences, the defence headquarters diversifies our armaments suppliers. If the west sabotages our weapons systems with sanctions, we have eastern origin weapon systems to rely on and vice versa. But now we are taking note of the importance of self reliance and building our own weapons systems, slowly but steadily. |
GreenandGold:If a 90mm canon could be slapped on it, that would be the perfect replacement for the operators of the Panhard AML-90. |
bidex111:I swear this brother lives for violence, especially for South African matters ![]() But kabe1, calm down bro. Let’s not throw stones while living in a glass house. |
AskiaHarem:Your comment makes it seem as if you have sympathy for the terrorists. |
[quote author=Faithful007 post=134602057]Found this on the internet today. Nigerian military you guys really need to leave these 3rd world antics for good. Cos WTF is this? Nigerian public system needs a thorough overhauling. It’s no surprise why some say we deserve our leaders. What a shame. |

bidexiii:Watched a TVC news report that Nigerian local defence industries are not yet sufficient enough to meet up with the needs of the Armed forces. If EPAIL can produce a minimum of 20 of these in a year. It should be able to complement if not replace the purchase of Chinese CS-VP3 Bigfoot MRAP. By the way, couldn’t they find a more appealing name for it than Dodondawa IV ![]() |
The second Offshore Patrol Vessel OPV76, (P204), constructed by DEARSAN Shipyard for the Nigerian Navy has successfully completed its first set of sea trials reaching a speed of approximately 30 knots. __@Jakepor21(X)

At the same time this same Zelensky went to the White House. President Trump said no more military or financial aid, agree to a peace deal. And if Ukraine was going to require a security guarantee, the only guarantee that the US can provide is American mining companies operating in Ukraine (which sounds more beneficial for the United States than it is to Ukraine). Zelensky refused. Ok good, there are many reasons that point why he refused but this same Zelensky went to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and signed a loan of 2.8 billion dollars. For what, rebuilding Ukraine…?? Buying more weapons…?? Or personal use…?? The only plausible deal I could think of was Russia halting its military advances and in return, no more western supply of weapons aid for Ukraine. And as for security guarantee that Russia won’t occupy Ukraine again(cause they’ve done it not once, but twice within the period of a decade. Raises suspicion of if President Putin has ambitions to revive the Soviet Union), UN peacekeeping troops(none of which would be from the permanent members of the UN security council) will be deployed in Ukraine for the period of time that Ukraine is rebuilt and its armed forces are strong enough to defend the nation. And if Russian troops ever occupied Ukraine again for any reason except being permitted by the UN or Ukraine, then they get the North Korean treatment, i.e worldwide sanctions and isolation(of which BRICS member states must participate or face consequences) and the military intervention of the UN Security Council. Can you guys imagine, I’m doing the job of the UN. How hopeless is that organization ![]() |
bidexiii:Welp on one hand, Russia in its attempt to prevent NATO presence at its doorstep(which is understandable by the way) by invading Ukraine successfully pushed Finland and Sweden into joining NATO. Now NATO is present at its doorstep. On the other hand, President Zelensky was unwise to have listened to former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s advice not to give in to the peace talks proposed by Türkiye in March 2022 when the conflict was still at its early stages and Russia hadn’t taken a significant amount of Ukrainian land. Fast forward to 2025, Russia has at least 20% of Ukrainian territory and is refusing to relinquish the captured territories whether or not a peace deal is struck. |
Shaytun:Since 2024, reports said the first batch of 6 units were to be delivered in late 2024. It’s 2025 and they are still undergoing flight tests. I’m losing patience. I want to see these birds already in Nigerian airspace with Nigerian airforce roundel and the Alpha jets in a military museum. Next up JF-17C block 3 and Chengdu J-10C Insha Allah. I’m making this a prayer point during this Ramadan. So much so, one would think it’s personal ![]() |
The look of an attire of a soldier is not what matters, it’s his/her effectiveness in the field. And speaking of appealing appearances, I came across this. I’m guessing maybe a new digital camouflage for the Armed Forces but it is yet to be standardized.

Lurker4Long:Don’t bother. That would be Gulf of Nigeria soon enough Breaking News; Trump and Musk proud as Tinubu plans to make South Africa the 37th state of Nigeria. Don’t worry about the spellings of the headline, just focus on the news content. Ohhh and by the way, that is Musk’s twin brother holding the mic, he prefers to keep a low profile hence, why no one knows about him

MiddleDimension:Su-57 over F-35 because of maneuverability and double engines. American pilots downplaying the Su-57 as a 4th generation fighter…?? No surprise there, TopGun Maverick has them brainwashed https://youtube.com/@themoverandgonkyshow?si=XrhsL1twg2Oj1Al2 This is a YouTube channel of a former US airforce pilot. You should hear the type of things he says about aircraft’s from other countries especially China and Russia 😂 |
bidexiii:Is everybody in the army a special force or is it only special forces that are deployed at the frontline. Everywhere online, we see Nigerian army personnel’s dubbed as SOFs or putting on an outfit that has SF imprinted on it. Even the vehicles that are used in theatre operations, the text SF battalion are imprinted on them especially the Toyota land cruisers
