There rumours that the United States are lobbying for an Air-force base in Nigeria and it seems some politicians and Nigerians are kicking against it.
The letter stated that the US and France are lobbying Nigeria and other Gulf of Guinea nations for defence agreements to station troops previously in Mali, Burkina Faso, and the Niger Republic. The northern leaders are worried that Nigeria might agree to this defence pact and jeopardise its defence and security.

A lot is happening with Nigerian neighbours and within West African geopolitical zones, Shift in power from the West to the far N.E Europe Russia

Lobbying for wetin…??

The idea of it been outdated is a joke on you, have u ever heard of the word upgrades,The Abrams MBT was produced in the 1980,s just like this airframe produced in the 1970s and the Abrams is still in use in Ukraine as i type this, the reason it is been decommissioned is because it is been replaced by the F-35 Lightning multirole jets, the cost of maintenace is low perhaps lower than the super Tucano at just 20kUSD per flight hour,it is clearly stated in my prior statement that is would be a game changer in counter insurgency operations, never said its multi purpose....(or do insurgents in Nigeria now have superior airpower?)if it is to be decommisioned then the US would be willing to sell a few to willing nations of course,in the case on Nigeria,we have genocidal cases against the military however with some diplomatic intervention we should be able to get it.

Yeah, right, whatever. The Nigerian Airforce will not be getting the A-10 Warthogs whether you cry about it or not. Why I said it shouldn’t be purchased because it’s not multipurpose…?? Did you give thought to long term use of procured platforms...?? This is 2024, literally anything can happen.
Nigeria is almost surrounded by foreign military bases of major powers. Take for instance the installation of S-300 air defence systems in Niger. Who knows why they are there…?? But let’s assume the Nigerien military government employed the help of Russian forces or Wagner PMC to protect the government from being overthrown, If we had the A-10 Warthogs, and the president decides to proceed with the ECOWAS intervention against military rule in Niger, how are the pilots supposed to protect themselves from incoming air defence missiles…??
Speaking of outdated, if upgrades can keep a 1980s aircraft fit, why then is the US military replacing them. They could have continued with upgrades and kept on flying them. It’s as if you are saying, Nigerian Airforce should keep on flying its alpha jet fleet. As long as they get upgrades, they are good to go. In 2024, dey play.
And what was it you were saying about genocidal cases in the Nigerian military…?? You think the US cares about Nigerian military casualties…?? The same US that has been delaying the delivery of the AH-1Z attack helicopters despite the pleas from Nigerian officials that it is required urgently…??
If the US didn’t sell the A-10 Warthogs to some of their allies who were interested in buying especially NATO allies, you think they will sell it to us…??
Even if they sell it to us, they will still dictate how it is used. 24x M346FA jets and 12 A-29 Super Tucanos, Insha Allah no breathing space for insurgents.

This would be a game changer if the Nigeria Air Force can acquire a couple of this platforms especially in the fight against insurgents

Nope, the Nigerian airforce doesn’t need this. it’s outdated, it is not multipurpose, it can only carry out ground attacks. Cost of maintenance is expensive. There will be a lot of restrictions on when, where and how the Nigerian Airforce can use it if purchased.
24 M346-FA jets will be delivered to the airforce soon, they can make do with that and the Tucanos on ground. Even the US is not willing to sell them

Bruhhh that is just too extreme, the suggestion you’ve made. The army going there with a vengeful mindset will not change anything. Rather it might even make people hate the army the more if they go after innocents. I may not be in the position to say how the army should respond to issues like this cause it has to do with loss of personnel life but there is something called non kinetic approach to security.

The AH-1Z is a significantly better aircraft than the MI-35M.

As it is, what we need now is to follow up this purchase with at least a squadron of F-16V fighter jets.

F-16V…..?? Wow you want us to be at the mercy of the US the more. I rather we get a squadron of the JF-17 block 3 fighter.
24x M346FAs, 12x JF-17 block 3s. We are good to go for the moment. Then maybe during the 2030s we can shift focus on semi stealth and stealth aircraft’s. The world is changing you know.

grin grin grin grin
Why ?
Hisbit because we are bot getting any missiles ?
Or his because of the sexy T129 ATAK.

Everything about the deal, I don’t like it

270 million dollars for T-129 Atak
500 million dollars for 12x multiple purpose A-29 super tucanos. Meanwhile 997million dollars(approximately a billion dollars) for 12 AH-1z attack helicopters without missiles. WE HAVE BEEN SCAAAAMMEED.

T-129 atak - ordered in 2021, first two delivered in 2024.
AH-1Z - ordered since 2018, still waiting for fire alarm before being delivered. American senators are busy using us to play chess.

Türkiye delivers the helicopters, no stress, no poke nosing, meanwhile Murica will tell us when to use it and how to use it. Go against their so called rules, BOOM!!! SANCTIONS!!!

Honestly whomever was the chief of air staff when this b.s deal was approved deserves serious beating and 6 o clock hanging for 24 hours, no dropping.

Correction:
1) white South Africans are not British immigrants, and they did not allow anybody any rights; black South Africans, and a few white South Africans, fought for equal rights;
2) black South Africans did not "let" white South Africans stay as some favour; the oldest liberation movement in Africa has always said, "South Africa belongs to all who live in it, black and white".
3) black Saffers who had their land forcibly taken could go through the restitution process and their claims could be settled through the govt buying back their land from current owners and giving it back. A lot of people opted for cash.

People in other parts of Africa, because of their recent history of colonization, forget that white South Africans have been here since 1652, and their position is exactly the same as other Europeans who went to settle in the US, Canada, South America, Australia.

Those who leave their home country to settle in a foreign country are called….. Immigrants

Those who came to South Africa as Christian missionaries or military troops of the Royal Crown or English teachers or whatsoever they were, as far back as 1652 and later settled down there till date were the…….. British

British + Immigrants = British Immigrants

If they never shown any support/concerns 4 Africa whenever it is going through tough times, who re we to show any concern 4 them also.
Let everyone paddle his canoe, am very sure u re only showing this solidarity due to religion affiliation nd may that not be the end of Nigeria.
This over obsession with religion have always been a weak point of this nation.
This can be catastrophic for this continent in the future if we don't retrace our steps, imagine an African supporting a foreigner to his African brother jst because they both share thesame religion on the world stage where everyone is supporting their kind.

Me, i won't support no Arab struggle not until my fellow Africans can be treated equally by this sand ni**ers in their own region.
If these guys can't treat north Africans equally dispite the closeness nd shared history nd religion, is it the subsaharan Abid that will be treated fairly.
Look, am very aware of our history, Arabs re equally bad as the Jews themselves.
So, I have no support to give to either of the side, let them thug it out.
I have no pity for anyone, as long as they both don't pity for our people.

Why does everything concerning the Middle East have to be associated with religion…?? Germany’s genocide in Namibia was never blamed on religion. France’s genocide in Algeria was never blamed on religion, Republic of Srpska’s genocide in Bosnia was never blamed on religion.
And fyi, I have been aware of the Palestinian’s plight since 2021. So I did not just wake up on October 7 to hear a breaking news and decided to side with those whose belief is same as mine, unlike some clueless people who did and claim; “Israelis are the chosen people of God”. “Everything they do is righteous”. “God said he will curse those who curse Israel” bla bla bla, yen yen yen.
And as a matter of fact, Muslims are not the only ones showing solidarity with Palestinians, I’m sure you know that.

What you don't get is that I'm completely objective towards the Israel/Palestine situation.....so that "fact" isn't really a fact, its a view point from someone who has a biased view of the situation.

"One man. one vote" is a very simple phrase that most normal humans can understand as a call for democracy in said country, When you say "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" what exactly happens to Israel?? does it cease to exist? are you changing its name?

The state of Israel can still exist. There has always been a call for a two state solution but guess who sabotages that…??

Meanwhile another good solution is peaceful coexistence. The same way British Immigrants returned ownership of the land to the black native South Africans and allowed them to enjoy their fundamental rights that was once violated, while the Black Native South Africans happily let the British immigrants stay and live with them peacefully till date. Arabs won't talk about african struggle because they don't care.
And when u see a few even talk about it on social media, it always comes from the angle of religion (muslim/islam).
Are those kind of people to be taken serious

So because they don’t talk about conflicts in Africa that means we should just waive off the genocide they are passing through. Bro NO!!! Evil only exists when good men do nothing. What you just said is an equivalent to, “Africa did not talk about conflict in the Baltic region, so countries in the Baltic region should not be concerned with terrorism in Africa even if they can lend a helping hand in one way or the other”. Moreover it’s not like all of Africa has done anything significant in regards to the Israeli-Palestinian issue. Only South Africa summoned the courage to press charges against Israel at the ICJ and Palestinians are grateful for that. Meanwhile we have countries like Cameroon voting against ceasefire resolutions, a lawyer from Uganda picking the side of the genocide perpetrators (fortunately, the Ugandan government denied her representing the nation), Morocco forging stronger ties with Israel, Senegal banning solidarity protests on the streets. Meanwhile our President in Aso Rock is still waiting for fire alarm before he sends the Israeli ambassador to Nigeria to where he came from.

Now let me just ignore your ignorant arguments and give you a little Levantine history. The term Palestine has its orgin from Philistia. Palestine however as a political entity was used to denote part of portion of land (British Mandate) inherited by Britain after the collapse of the Ottoman empire at the end of WW1, when colonial powers such as France and Spain and a few others split up the territory. Palestine at the time contained a strong Jewish minority within Jerusalem as well as Arabs in the coastal regions. Note that at this time nobody was being referred to as Palestinian.

So you acknowledge the fact that the modern day terrorist state of Israel which was usurped from Palestinian land was once made up of “Jewish minorities” Good enough, we are getting somewhere

The intent of the British to create a Jewish homeland for the Jews went at variance with Arab nationalism, therefore to maintain control over the region, the British strictly controlled immigration for Jews only issuing special permits. That is the origin of that picture you're parading. Eventually, the Jews became frustrated with the British and started a pro-independence insurgent group, the Haganah (the predecessors of the IDF), to fight Britain.
This resulted in large scale detention of Jews by British forces, causing rifts between its fellow allied powers. With the British colonial power falling post-war 2 and the growing insurgency, the ' Palestine Problem' was handed over to the United Nations.

You also acknowledge that the British issued special permits to Jews for them to immigrate into Palestine (which gradually along the years caused them to be the majority)And when the British strictly controlled immigration, they were dissatisfied and started an insurgency. Good.

After the historic UN vote for the partition plan, Arab militias organized and blockaded Jerusalem. This alone forced many countries to walk back their proposal on the partitioning of British Palestine. The US became neutral while the British repositioned its forces to assist Jordan to annex part of British Palestine. Meanwhile the Haganah tried to supply Jews in jerusalem blockaded by Arabs. At this point, Jews made up 35% of the population.

After several losses to the Arabs, Ben-Gurion reorganized the Haganah to tear the blockade and then go on the offensive, and this my friend, is where Modern-day Palestine likes to begin their history from. Several cities containing both Jews and Arabs fell to Haganah, resulting in the eviction of Arabs who lived alongside Jews. The State of Israel was declared and the six-day war began.

Points to note:
It is clear that right from Jewish revival during the Ottoman empire to when the British eventually gave up trying to recreate the State of Israel, the Arabs consistently sabotaged that effort despite Jews having consistently lived in Jerusalem and the persecution of the Jewish diaspora.

Two, the neglect of an Ancient State of Israel by Arabs in the lust for a homogenous Islamic State in the Levant, after British independence obviously backfired.

Three, to make the case of Palestine clear, it has never been a state on its own.

Four, despite having massive Jewish expulsion and emigration, there has never been a time where Levant/Israel was unoccupied by Jews.

Below is a timeline of the demographic of Israel/Palestine/Levant through time. Now who was there first?

Whatever B.S you put up here, is not fooling me, and pls don’t expect me to believe a screenshot from Wikipedia as evidence, we all know how easy it is to edit on Wikipedia and write an article. Of course there was somewhere named Palestine. Even Nigeria can be renamed to Palestine if the government likes it.

My question is who was the 'Government of Palestine'? The entire history of the Levant is fully documented and available on the Internet. There's nothing like lack of history.

And btw, I never mentioned anything about Palestine in relation to Africa. If you think I did so then your English comprehension might just be the issue.

So you acknowledge the fact that indeed there was (and there is still) a place called Palestine, and despite the evidence of their existence, you still stand behind the point that there is no known record of any Palestine head of state in the 1930s and 1940s. Good.

Nigeria gained its Independence in 1960. There is more than enough evidence that Nigeria existed before 1960. Ranging from almagamation in 1914 to the creation of the first political party in 1923 and so on and so forth.
Pls show me evidence of Israel’s existence before its so called independence in 1948. How do we know they were truly colonized by the British…??

Usually when replying to these kind of things, I nitpick and disprove everything the person has said.

However it's not even necessary here. Unless you can tall me the Palestinian that presided over the 'Government of Palestine' grin

Ok for instance if I asked you who was the president of Türkiye in the 1923, I’m very sure you don’t know that offhead, unless you had to check it on google.
But that doesn’t mean Türkiye did not exist in the 1920s.

There might not be any record of the Palestinian heads of state in the 1930s and 1940s but there is evidence of Palestine’s existence as far back as then. In fact I have a video evidence of H!tler mentioning a list of countries President Roosevelt warned him not to invade. Palestine was mentioned not Israel. YouTube erased the vid from their platform when the comments was showing solidarity with the Palestinians. Luckily I screen recorded it before it was erased because I had my suspicions it would be erased. If you want it, give me one of your social handles, I will send it. But there is a link I have that can help out, unfortunately the comments were turned off.
