bidexiii:As if that’s not enough, those bloody bandits have found their way to the South West and have begun kidnapping for ransom. I’m just tired at this point. |
Odunayaw:Vanquisher light tactical vehicle CS/VP-3 Bigfoot MRAP |
bidexiii:Maybe the AC-130J Ghostrider, but from what I heard, the US forces did not deploy any combat platforms, rather it was the Nigerian forces. I’ve never seen firepower like this in airstrike footages of the airforce or army UAV command. |
Tinfoil:Aaah yes, buy American made equipment today and get hit with sanctions by the unpredictable orange Buffon and his AIPAC bought Senators because you smiled at Israel the wrong way or you refused to agree Trump is a Messiah. Even Morocco and Egypt who are the biggest importers of American made are not safe. |
Toju200:The day I learnt Burkina Faso fields the SH-15, I shook my head in disappointment over the NA being stuck with the Palmaria SPH since 1982 |
Odunayaw:Audhubillahi. I pray not I have a better idea which is the Navy acquiring 2x MEKO A-100 frigate similar to the Brazilian Tamandare class frigate or worse, acquire 3 light corvettes based on the Turkish Hisar class offshore patrol vessel. If the Navy is infamous for downgrading vessels by stripping of their missiles and big guns to suit their needs, they should also build a reputation of upgrading vessels to suit their fighting capabilities. The Type 23 class frigates, however useful they may still be, are old and way past their service life. Upgrades and life extension will cost more than the amount needed to acquire new vessels. Even if the Navy has a preference for second hand vessels because they have been proven, at least the vessels should be no more than 20 years old.

bidexiii:The variant of the JF-17 to be purchased is unknown but if we assume it to be the most advanced variant which is the JF-17C Block 3 which has a unit cost of about $25 - $30 million, that would be; 24 x 30 = $720 million. The remaining $180 million may not be enough to cover spare parts, ammunitions and supporting infrastructure and training costs. Somalia may have to prioritize one miscellaneous over the others or forfeit one in favour of others. Nigeria’s deal on the other hand is a miracle. I just checked for the unit price of the M-346FA and I saw approximately $93 million. Austria signed a contract in 2025 for 12x M-346FA and other miscellaneous at a cost of $1.7 billion. Nigeria got a deal for 24x M-346FAs for $1.3 billion, inclusive of the miscellaneous. But I’m guessing inflation in the past few years played a part in increasing the unit cost of the platform, hence why the Austrian deal is more expensive than the Nigerian deal |
Lurker4Long:Maybe budget constraints hindered their construction. And at the time project biro was signed the Warrior class missile boat and River class minesweeper needed to be replaced. The MMIPVs seemed like the perfect replacement since it can do both patrol duties and mine clearance. Correct me if I’m wrong though. |
bidexiii:Most likely the Bayraktar Akinci. We’ve seen small models of the Akinci displayed on the table of the C.A.S in numerous occasions. |
bidexiii:Naaah that young man has gone through a lot. The eyes don’t lie. It’s written all over his body. Justice for Lance Corporal 😭 |
Lurker4Long:What Damen OPV was supposed to be constructed alongside the MMIPVs under project biro…?? |
Odunayaw:Even the IAF intends to replace its Jaguar fleet in the next decade. Probably to be replaced by the HAL Tejas Mk1A. The defence ministry should consider building a proper, official military museum to keep legacy equipments for display. It can serve as a source of revenue from local visitors and international tourists. |
Tinfoil:I think had more to do with VP Shettima’s condemnation of Israel at the UN assembly than Nigeria’s interest in joining BRICS. Nigeria has always expressed interest in joining the BRICS bloc since the Buhari administration of which Trump did not set his gaze on the security situation of the country. Even when Nigeria became a partner nation of BRICS in January 2025, he didn’t say anything. The moment VP Shettima berated Israel at the UN assembly and called for a recognition of an independent Palestinian state, BOOM!!!, orange man-child declared Nigeria a state of particular concern. Called us a disgraced nation and claimed there was a Christian genocide. Same way he tried to play white farmers genocide card against South Africa Mind you, Nigeria has been fighting insecurity since 2009 which mainly affected the Northern part which is predominantly Muslim. Trump was the 45th USA president from 2017 till 2020, throughout his first term he did not for once bat an eye over Nigeria’s security situation. |
QuietMynd:It’s not that they are currently a rogue state. They have always been a rogue state. We are just less oblivious to it now. |
QuietMynd:Currently…?? |
bidexiii:Yes Proactiveness. We want more. |
Happy New Year to everyone. Wishing you all the very best of 2026 |
bidexiii:Orange man child did not acknowledge the collaboration between the United States and Nigeria that facilitated this strike. Meanwhile he was lamenting when China organized their 2025 Victory parade and gave little acknowledgment to the efforts of the United States in helping China against Imperial Japan in WW2.
|
kabe1:And unlike the United States that had back up and support of its powerful NATO and non-NATO allies which contributed their resources in the Afghan conflict and the Libyan campaign, Nigeria is basically on its own in the fight against Insurgency. Even in the Multi-National Joint Task Force, Nigerian forces stand out as the most equipped and as such have to provide air or ground support for the other MNJTF members when they need it. |
Lurker4Long:Don’t let China see this. I repeat DO NOT LET CHINA SEE THIS 😭!!!. This Tac 6 mortar carrier is a great option for militaries with moderate budgets. |
kabe1:Sweden - Gripen E ✅ Brazil - Gripen E ✅ Thailand - Gripen E on order…… Colombia - Gripen E on order….. Everybody is switching to Gripen E, meanwhile there is a a particular world class airforce looking to display and exhibit Gripen C for the 8th time at its international airshow in 2026 and probably up till the 2030 edition. By this time, usual attendees will think; “hey maybe we would get to see something new in this 2026 edition. New aircrafts, new aerial display”. But nope, they are in for another dose of obsolete Gripen C and Hawk-200 fly past.

GreenandGold:The third image, was it AI generated…?? |
Faithful007:What part of my quote did I say a government official is talking about establishing military base in Port Harcourt…?? |
Faithful007:Drone strikes una. One werey is already recommending the establishment of a military base in Port Harcourt. And some disgraceful secessionists are giving them the go ahead. They want to save Christians in Nigeria but they are thinking of establishing a base in the oil rich south south. Wetin do Borno and Zamfara where most of the terrorism occurs.
|
Floky215:Look at Sudan. The Sudanese Civil war occurred due to disputes between the Commander of Sudan Armed Forces and the Commander of the RSF of Sudan right after a coup was carried out and the President was ousted. What are they fighting about…?? Who will lead Sudan and how will Sudan be led. If Nigeria should experience a coup right now, it would be chaotic. It could be that after the coup, that is when IPOB secessionists would be emboldened to pursue secession. Probably because one of the coup plotters is of South East origin. A coup could also cause foreign interference and make foreign entities impose their policies on us (World Powers like US and China scramble for Africa). That is definitely not what we want. Not to mention that the military, already overstretched in conducting internal security operations, would also have to deal with governance. It will overwhelm them and may cause frustration which in turn will make them pour that frustration on civilians. Terrorists and Bandits would capitalize on the chaos resulting from the coup and attack and steal from vulnerable communities. Communities that don’t want to fall victim will be told to pay tax. The country would be in a big soup. Look at the AES states. Mali’s security is deteriorating instead of improving. Military platforms are either being stolen or destroyed. Burkina Faso has little to negligible improvements in security and almost every news of the country’s development feels like propaganda. No much evidence to back them up. And then there is Niger, infamous for blaming Nigeria for its misfortune and accusing Nigeria of working with France to destabilize Niger. Wasn’t it Niger that said it had a list of terrorist sponsors from Nigeria and it was going to release it to the public. Till date they haven’t released anything. |
VonSmallhausen:1 in each local government would equals 774 units. At a unit cost of $24,000, buying won’t be a problem. The major issue is can the Nigerian Police be trusted to maintain them well, keep them operational and not sabotage parts of the drone to sell for personal gain. |
jteku:Not the M4. I believe the DSS operates the Brazilian Taurus T4 assault rifle |
And I thought my country’s leaders were foolish. Billions of dollars of security investments, foreign military base on soil, a very expensive private plane. All these for security guarantee, only to be played for fools. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSPqmRpBDBU?si=XBYVy8wYvN-POOvv |
If Badger IFV is a no show, why not acquire the Mbombe 8 ![]()
|
kenpaul0:Unfortunately, lack of foreign orders, limited number of airframes produced is what dwarfed the potential of the Rooivalk. |
