I turn down a marriage proposal because of snoring.
My lodge mate friend who visit him always and at times he would sleep over, although the night i will be awake cause his snoring is so disturbing that i can't sleep. We were so closed then but he never said anything to me not untill after our service year that he proposed but i quickly turned him down even though I never mentioned it to him despite the fact that he is a good guy but i can't imagined it . While growing up i always run from room to sitting room just to find comfort well running away from my brother's loud snor. Soi can't come and kill myself especially when it has to do with for better and for worse.

You see that odour i can't in anyway manage it cause practically every wrong smell disrupt my stomach. That is why I can share room with any of my siblings cause i hate dirt. Me that throws up anytime i bord a public bus will manage odour, how?.

Last Sunday night i was so angry that i went into praying asking God to lose me from any chains that is holding me down, i was so bittered in my prayer.
Early Monday morning some group of boys were playing and passing in front of my compound and they stumbled on a wire that sprout out of the soil. One the boys tried to pull it out low and behold it was thighed around a key inside a nylon and buried in the soil so they dung it up and the key broke on it own cause it has rost
That same evening i was taking a walk and met with a lady that was wiping her body with a dirty water from a pothole, i was so scared cause i met her by surprise as i was about to turn back she said and I quote "madam don't think to much, is it sickness or money God can do it" i was still scared cause the road was very lonely and it was getting dark already, she followed me and asked again, is there anything that God can't do, i said no still walking away cause she looked so unkept that she scared the hell out me.
But later i prayed to God that Evening saying i don't know who this woman is but God i want to believe that you sent her to me for a purpose.
The next morning i received alert from the work i deed since last December, that i have been anticipating on for long.
Is as if this lady read my mind cause i was going through a lot that evening, thinking on how to pay my hospital bill though i have some cash but have budgeted it for other things.I' m still short of words till now.

So, what program do you intend to study in Japan? German? Blood of Abasi Chineke. The advice I can offer is to come in as a research student (研究生) in a related field. Let's say the Faculty of Languages or social sciences blah blah blah. There will be less coursework than being a master's student. After six months, you can apply to the same department (preferably) as an aspiring master's student. Alternatively, you apply to language school (if you are below 30), and run it for two years. Then apply to universities to study Japanese. You are a Nigerian aka black person. It will be totally ridiculous to study German in Japan because the economic opportunities don't demand German speaking skills. In fact, better to study Chinese or Korean or Bahasa or Vietnamese than German. The folks who will demand German skills (obviously very few) will be German companies. And a black man, especially a black African, is the last person they will hire when there are countless biracial children who are Japanese and have a European parent.

Ah! German BSc wanting to study in Japan? Make una dey fear God na. In fact, in my school, the students on the campus, which houses faculty of foreign languages, I no see any black person. The black folks here are mainly in hard sciences or social sciences. Those in social sciences speak pretty good Japanese or know that they have to radically improve their Japanese before they graduate.

But then, Japan is the available opportunity for now. Would like to know about their education system and currency compared to Naira.


Please start reading from the post I quoted to the end. I have explained the education system for you. In summary, it is research-based rather than taught. Meaning you will always be in the lab more than you will be in the classroom. In fact, from your second year, nothing concerns you with classroom. As for the currency, please use Google.

It is your responsibility to search for schools, study their application process, tuition fees, available scholarships, their contact emails, phone numbers etc.

That was the post which gave me the confidence to apply. Before then, the aspect of travelling to Japan, write the entrance exam, returning to Nigeria and wait for the result deterred me. But you see that post? It triggered me. I applied, did research, had a notebook detailing the names of schools and professors' names etc. I called each professor's office by 9am Japanese time (1am Nigerian time) every week. I did every research. Maji just gave me assurances when I did not get an email. I never asked Maji to list schools or professors for me. I never asked him about the tuition fees. I did all the necessary research. So, it is your responsibility to do the same. In fact, all the African students I have met here did the same thing - they researched it by themselves. It includes Nigerians who are MEXT scholars, including a Nairalander.

There was no feeding bottle. Because to be honest, no one feeds you here. They expect you to know it from Day 1.

First, is the money in naira or dollars? If the former, better convert it to avoid the oncoming devaluation when petrol hits N400 per litre. If you desire to, budget a million bucks for GRE, TOEFL, tutorial fees, visa, application fees etc., and prepare to pursue grad studies in the US. You search for professors who are doing projects which catch your interest, email them of your intentions and take it from there. If successful, you will be funded by either the professor, department or faculty. But funding is hinged on your entire profile (CGPA, GRE scores, LORs etc). Through this way, you do not get to pay school fees.

Second option is to apply to Japanese universities (they are relatively cheaper than their western counterparts). An increasing number of them offer grad courses in English but proficiency in Japanese is required or encouraged prior to graduation. Follow same process as above in reaching out to professors. However, due to your low funds, do not apply to universities in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. Target universities in less expensive cities. This is because you will be required to send a bank balance to reflect cost of living. All the same, target national universities not public or private ones. If you choose this, target for the April 2022 entry not this October as application deadlines have passed.

Germany is another option but I see rumours of the visa process being clogged (just like you, many also want to flee) and first class grads being prioritised (which if you are, you are better off targeting the US because of availability and ease of funding). Do not target Canada, scholarships are far and in-between and is horrendously expensive as a privately financed student. Six million naira will take you nowhere. If possible, target South Korea but like Japan, target national universities not private ones. Yet again, do so in less expensive cities. Don't target Australia, UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria or Singapore, Canada's costs is a child's play compared to those places. As an alternative to Germany, many now target Poland but I hear visa is hard to come by these days (again, just like you, many are japaing). If you know Portuguese or Spanish, target Brazil or Mexico/Uruguay, cheaper fees (I hear Brazil's is free to even non-citizens). I hear Finland abi Norway offers tuition to foreigners but I am not too sure. Do your research.

Do not target any country in Sub-Saharan Africa, although software engineering is different but South Africa has one of the highest youth and general unemployment rate in the world. Not like Nigeria is any better but you aim for the best not the worse like Nigerians did in 2015 when they chose a "reformed democrat" in Buhari over an "incompetent" Jonathan.

I am making plans on how to Japa to Japan but I don’t know anything about their educational system and currency. Though Germany is my preferred country as I studied German in the university but their visa process is not easy, so am making plans for other available opportunities.
