Romance › "Reveal At Last How Couples Should React To Bad Sex" by expertman(op):
A man genuinely reaches for his wife and instead of an explosive orgasm, what they get is a boring sexual intercourse. To put it bluntly, the sex is no longer as good as it used to be.

More than ever, couples do not know what to do when their sex lives begin to diminish. And they wonder what on earth happened to the passion that they used to share together.

But, it may interest you to know that in some cases sex can or may almost never measure up to the passionate act displayed on the lighted screen. Television shows and the movies give us a twisted picture of what sex should be, in which everyone seems to be hopping from one orgasm to another.

When some married couples watch and compare the scenes from such films to their own sexual experiences, they easily conclude that their sex lives must be declining. And they contemplate dumping their partners for new ones.

Real life sex may not be perfect. It does not always end with an earth-shattering climax. Good sex does not necessarily have to end with an orgasm. It can just be an emotionally fulfilling experience between two friendly and married lovers.

However, no matter how drab your sex life may be, it can get better. The secret is to know exactly what you want and then ask for it. You long for wet, sensual kisses and you want to be fingered, your clitoris caressed and nipples teased in a tender manner.

On the other hand, he prefers dry, chaste pecks to sex. Maybe your spouse needs sex two times a day, while you cannot have it more than three times a week. The rule of the game is to say what you want.

Even when everything else in the relationship is working, sexual styles are not always compatible. This is true for new couples. But, when you operate open communication your sex life will soar high. In that situation, sex is not just naturally perfect; there is the heady feeling of having a new experience that is positive, exciting, and passionate.

The negative part is that it may be very clumsy because both partners have yet to learn how to dance together in harmony.

Most of the time, even couples who have lived together for a long time do struggle to attain perfection in bed. Although we can easily tell our partners what clothes we would like them to wear or what we would like them to cook for dinner, we are usually speechless when it comes to sex.

Some couples tend to be very sensitive when it comes to talking about sex. They seldom speak their minds because they are afraid of hurting their partner’s feelings. So the question is how do you tell your partner what you want without bruising his or her ego?

The solution lies in how you present the matter to him or her. Instead of staying off sex or making excuses, you can begin your speech with openers, such as ‘I would love it if we’ … or, ‘Could we try this?’

You do not want to make your partner feel bad about what he or she has not done. You can have that conversation in bed or during dinner over a glass of wine wherever it is most convenient to do so.

Before you talk, you need to find out about whatever has gone wrong in your sex life. Is it the technique, personal hygiene, or timing?

Once you discover what is wrong, there are different ways to solve the problem. For example, if something about your partner’s smell is turning you off, ask him or her to freshen up with you before making love.

Before you can tell your partner what you want him or her to do in bed, you need to be sure of what you want. I think the women have to let go of inhibitions and allow their husbands to explore their bodies.

But then, after you have figured out what you want and shared it with your partner, what if your sex life continues to be dull and unfulfilling? What if it turns out so bad that your relationship is threatened?

What you should do is experiment together. Learn to understand each other’s bodies. Try some sex aids. Read books with pictures (such as ‘Sexual intimacy in marriage’ by Funmi Akingbade), or watch an educational, but explicit, videos in which a voice-over explains what’s happening in the scenes.

Sometimes the problem could be physical, such as premature ejaculation. Or it may be that the stressed out from working too hard and it is interfering with your sex life. In that case, it will help to see a sex therapist.

If you are still dissatisfied, is it okay to fake it in bed? In the first place, when you fake it, you are denying yourself pleasure and giving your partner the wrong impression over time.

Reinforcing that wrong impression can lead to a not-so-satisfying sex life. Besides, you are doing yourself a disservice because you are not learning what really turns you on and eventually, your spouse will realize that you are disconnected from the relationship.

Also, practice the act of consciously getting in the mood for sex. Getting in the mood for sex means shutting out distractions and that is not easy to achieve, especially if your bedroom is full of nagging reminders of a boring routine. Stripping down your bedroom to create a more neutral and relaxing space can help.

Politics › Photo : Last Minute Struggle Fails To Redeem Bakassi by expertman(op): 3:52pm On Oct 14, 2012
At last, Bakassi no longer stands a chance to return as a part of Nigeria, despite attempts to get the Federal Government to review the Oct. 10, 2002 ruling by the International Court of Justice, writes MUDIAGA AFFE

For several months, the Bakassi issue had been the front burner of public discourse. But the hope of different interest groups, including the National Assembly, to have the Federal Government appeal the ceding of Bakassi to Cameroon was dashed less than 24 hours to the expiration of the 10-year period given for appeal.

The International Court of Justice in the Hague, Netherlands had on Oct. 10, 2002 ruled that Nigeria should cede the oil-rich Bakassi peninsula to Cameroon. The hope initially raised by President Goodluck Jonathan by instituting a committee to look into the appeal about a week before the deadline, was however dashed on Monday. This is because the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke, said Nigeria would not apply for the review of the ICJ ruling which ceded Bakassi to Cameroon.

In making a case for the FG’s position, Adoke explained that the argument canvassed by proponents of the review “is virtually bound to fail” as “a failed application will be diplomatically damaging to Nigeria.”

But the government’s decision had only provoked further controversy as a section of Nigerians, who had campaigned for a review of the ICJ judgement felt seriously disappointed. However, another section of Nigerians agreed with the FG’s position, saying it was rather too late in the day to file an appeal. Yet another group of pundits said the FG’s final position did not come as a surprise after all, considering the lukewarm attitude it had exhibited towards the matter over the years.

Meanwhile, during a protest organised on Tuesday by members of the Cross River State House of Assembly, who took to the streets over the matter, the state government accused the AGF of trading falsehood and misleading Nigerians on the FG’s refusal to seek a review of the judgement of the ICJ. Some of them called for the sacking of Adoke and the impeachment of President Jonathan for not defending the constitution as they had sworn to.

The Speaker of the assembly, Mr. Larry Odey, led the 25-member procession to Governor Liyel Imoke’s office in Calabar to express their anger and bitterness.

He said Adoke’s claim ran contrary to that of Jonathan, who identified with the views of the majority of members of the National Assembly and supported the move by setting up a committee to review the judgement. A member representing Bakassi in the assembly, Mr. Saviour Nyong, described himself as one of the displaced persons from the area and said that the FG did not seek their consent before ceding them to Cameroon.

Nyong said that no nation had ever ceded its portion to another without a plebiscite, adding that the decision of the FG was an international conspiracy against the people of Bakassi. He noted that the Green Tree Agreement had not been ratified by the National Assembly and that the people of Bakassi had the right to take their destiny in their hands. Another member representing Abi constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr. John-Gaul Lebo, said it was the ICJ’s position to issue the statement not the AGF.

However, a statement by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Attah Ochinke, pointed out that contrary to the position of Adoke and the FG, Nigeria still had about seven grounds upon which a review of the judgement could have been pursued.

He said, “The FG adduced several reasons for its decision, including the claim that the committee set up by (President) Jonathan could not get new information from the proponents for a review to warrant seeking a review of the judgement.

“While Cross River should not be seen as taking issues with the FG, it is however pertinent to state our own side of the story for the sake of posterity.

“First, it must be emphasised that for us in Cross River, Bakassi is not about oil; it is about the people. I regret to say that it is not true that new facts were not made available to the committee that would have compelled Nigeria to seek a review of the ICJ judgement. If anything, the FG’s decision is coming after several days of frenzied activities towards applying for a review of the judgement. While we concede that the FG has the prerogative not to apply for a review, we find the reasons given for that decision most unfortunate. A lot of work was done on this and about seven grounds were raised on which the government could have based a review. And these were well documented; copies of which we have for any further scrutiny. To say that there were no fresh facts to apply for review is to insist that the Nigerian Bar Association, the Institute of International Affairs, the several professional bodies and the National Assembly that called for the review acted in total ignorance.

“It must be stated that since Bakassi was a Nigerian territory, the FG also had the responsibility of looking for a new information that would warrant a review. It is therefore, baffling when it said proponents of a review failed to furnish it with new information. To convince the FG that facts exist on which the application could have been made, an international law firm based in London was briefed to examine the case and advice. The firm did this and advised that there are sufficient facts upon which a review may be based; more importantly the firm prepared the papers for Nigeria to file at the ICJ. All the FG needed to do was to simply dispatch the papers for filing.

“The claim that seeking a review will tarnish Nigeria’s image in the comity of nations is also very unfortunate. Several countries applied for a review of similar judgements delivered against them without losing credibility. El Salvador against Honduras in 2002 applied for a review of a judgement given almost 10 years earlier on Sept. 11, 1992. The application for review of the judgment in Yugoslavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina case was presented in 2001 for a judgement delivered in July, 1996. The ICJ statute provides that an application for a review cannot be entertained unless the Party applying first complies with the judgement prior to submitting the application for a review. So the fact that Nigeria had complied with the judgement is the ground that should qualify us to apply for a review and should not be the reason why we should be ashamed to do what is necessary to protect Nigerians.”

Ochinke noted that the Cross River State claim came as a boost to many observers, who had expected Nigeria to seek a review of the judgement.

A former Special Adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo on National Assembly Matters, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, said it was good the FG did not waste money for an appeal. In a protest rally organised on Monday by the natives of Bakassi in her residence in Calabar, Ita-Giwa said that Nigeria lost Bakassi to Cameroon 10 years ago through the ruling and finally four years ago when the handing over was done. She said that if there were things to be done to review the matter, it should have been done four or five years ago, adding that though Nigerians had shown great interest in the Bakassi issue belatedly, the displaced Bakassi people were not counting down anything but calling for their resettlement at Day Spring Island.

She said, “Today, we are still a displaced people and displaced people are worse than refugees. For 10 years after the judgement, we have cried, nobody listened to us. Today, we are surprised that two days to the expiration people have gone to court. We appreciate efforts of Cross River State Government, but what we want is shelter,” she said.

No matter the protest, annoyance, explanations and excuses, Nigeria has finally lost the chance to redeem Bakassi.

Politics › NEMA Registers 54363 Displaced Persons In Bayelsa, Rivers by expertman(op): 3:35pm On Oct 14, 2012
National Emergency Management Agency on Sunday said it had registered 54363 Internally Displaced Persons in camps in Bayelsa and Rivers states.

NEMA said in a statement that it registered 35,126 IDPs in six affected local government areas of Bayelsa State, while 19, 237 IDPs have been documented in four affected local government areas in Rivers State as at Sunday.

The statement issued by NEMA spokesman, Yushau Shuaibu, said the agency was also encouraging registered Non-Governmental
Organisations, volunteers and community leaders to support in the management of the established camps.

NEMA South-South Zonal Coordinator, Umesi Emenike, was quoted as saying that NEMA may continue to establish more camps in the two states, where necessary, to accommodate the influx of people from their houses as the volume of water continues to rise in some of the communities.

“NEMA has continued to provide relief materials to all the camps, especially food items, drugs, beddings, clothing and toiletries based on rapid response assessment needs,” added.

More details later.

Politics › Plenty Laws In Lagos. 3000 Okadas Destroyed. Your Take With Pics? by expertman(op): 5:00pm On Oct 11, 2012
"The Lagos State Government has commenced the process of crushing 3, 000 motorcycles, popularly called okada, impounded from their owners for violating traffic law.

Officials of the state Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit on Tuesday dismantled the okadas at the task force yard in Alausa.

The Taskforce Chairman, Bayo Sulaiman, an Assistant Superintent of Police, said after the end of the dismantling exercise, the iron parts would be taken to the state Crushing Plant in Oshodi, where they would be crushed and recycled.

He said the action was to show that the government had stepped up its enforcement of the state traffic law, adding that the crushing of the okadas would serve as deterrent to other commercial motorcycle operators.

Sulaiman said, These are okadas impounded since the new traffic law was signed into law. There are 3, 000 of them. Okada riders must obey our traffic law. They are fond of driving against traffic, on kerbs and several unauthorised places. The law has been passed and gazetted and there is no going back on its enforcement.

We are dismantling the okadas now to separate the parts that are crushable from the ones that are not crushable. After this, we will take the crushable parts to Oshodi crushing plant, where they will be crushed and recycled. The non-crushable parts will probably be auctioned, but not in the state.

The Taskforce has not started enforcing the law fully. But this should serve as a warning to them because we wont hesitate to impound any okada caught on the restricted roads in the state.

Sulaiman, however, said there were no riders to be prosecuted because the owners of the 3, 000 okadas abandoned them on sighting law enforcement officials.

On Mondays protest by some of the riders, Sulaiman said, They have the right to protest, but the government will be firm in what it does. It does not in any way stop our job, those who intend not to obey the law, we are coming after them. The protest is a group action, but our arrests will be one after the other and we will be out there on a daily basis.

According to him, the law has been passed and those who will not obey the law will be punished.

The task force boss, however, said the laws compliance level was improving on a daily basis. He advised the riders to go to areas where their operations are not restricted.

Phones › Apple May Need An Iphone 6 Sooner Rather Than Later by expertman(op): 1:02pm On Oct 03, 2012
For Apple, the hits keep coming. The company launches a new iPhone and 5 million people snag one over the weekend. An iPad Mini, expected to debut later this month, could get into the hands of 10 million users before the end of the year. And this is despite the fact that competitors offer a far broader array of smartphones and tablets, with a price, size and feature set to match the needs of almost any discerning customer.

The extraordinary popularity, and profitability, of Apple's products is in part based on the quality, consistency and simplicity of the offering. Apple avoids the pitfalls of the paradox of choice, a theory by psychologist Barry Schwartz that suggests too much choice makes it difficult to choose at all. No need to choose between Apple model 7844PQC, 6533PHX or the 5055PDQ or decide what operating system you should buy.

You want an iPhone 5? It comes in one size and two colors, with a few options for storage and networking. If you already know how to use an iPhone, this new version won't challenge your skills. How about a tablet? Apple has a model with a 9.7-inch screen and your choice of connectivity options.

Apple doesn't try to offer the most feature-rich or advanced mobile devices available. The way Apple chief designer Sir Jony Ive tells it, "Our goals are very simple -- to design and make better products. If we can't make something that is better, we won't do it."

Bigger than a 4-inch screen is not better for a smartphone. Apple has decided you should be able to operate your phone with one hand, and will only offer you a 4 inch iPhone 5 screen, or its 3.5 inch antecedents, the iPhone 4S and 4. Better is an iPhone 5 that is 18 percent thinner, 20 percent lighter, up to twice as fast and slightly longer than its predecessor, a flawed Map app notwithstanding.

"Most of our competitors are interested in doing something different, or want to appear new -- I think those are completely the wrong goals. A product has to be genuinely better. This requires real discipline, and that's what drives us -- a sincere, genuine appetite to do something that is better," Ive said in an interview with the London Evening Standard.

Whereas Apple offers limited choice, competitors are in the multiple choice business. They offer many more price points and feature options, including a variety of screen sizes, operating systems, cameras, networks and chips. And, they are doing more than just something different or new.

Motorola, for example, recently introduced three new Android phones, including a $99 unit with a 4.3-inch edge-to-edge display, a model with a 4.7-inch HD screen size and one with up to 32 hours of battery life. Samsung says it has sold 20 million of its Android-based Galaxy S3, with a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display at 1,280x720-pixel resolution, in its first 100 days on the market.

Nairaland General › Niger Republic Training Nigerian Terrorists For Boko Haram Full Picture by expertman(op): 5:57pm On Sep 29, 2012
"The positive runs by the security agencies on Boko Haram group and other terrorist groups in Nigeria continue as the military said Friday it had arrested a number of security personnel over links to Islamist extremist group Boko Haram, whose insurgency has killed hundreds of people. The arrests came after soldiers from a special military unit

deployed in the northeastern city of Maiduguri arrested an immigration officer, Grema Mohammed, for allegedly being an active member of Boko Haram, a military spokesman said.

According to the JTF, the security personnels were named among those carrying out terrorist attacks in the country. The disclosure came from the confessions of a high-profile Boko Haram member arrested by the military Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. Most of these personnel have been arrested, while security agencies are on the trail of others.

Boko Haram is blamed for deadly attacks that have killed more than 1,400 people since 2010 as part of an insurgency in northern and central Nigeria.

The arrest "led to further arrests of some other security personnel that had been participating in various terrorist attacks in Borno and Yobe states," Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa said of the two states in northeastern Nigeria, where Boko Haram has been based.

He did not specify how many arrests had been made.

"He confessed to being an active member of the Boko Haram terrorist sect which he joined long before the 2009 crisis," Musa said in a statement in reference to a 2009 uprising by the group.

"He also confessed to having been trained alongside 15 other members of the sect on weapon handling, assassination and special operations in Niger republic," Musa added, referring to the neighbouring nation.

Grema was arrested over a month ago at a checkpoint while allegedly impersonating an army lieutenant, Musa said.

The suspect also confessed to the killings of some senior civil servants, security personnel and politicians who had spoken against the sect in Yobe and Borno states.

He had also participated in attacks on police stations, a prison and the burning of public schools, Musa said.

There have previously been accusations of involvement of some security personnel in the attacks, which have grown increasingly sophisticated.

A JTF statement signed by the task force spokesman, Lt. Col Sagri Musa, seen elombah.com states:

Mohammed had been on the wanted lists in the country. He was arrested on August 17, this year for impersonating a Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army.

Mohammed confessed to be actively involved in the killings of some senior civil servants, security agents, and politicians in Damaturu who spoke against the activities of Boko Haram, particularly the former chairman of Damboa Council, Alhaji Lawal Kawu.

He also took part in the attack on the old Police Headquarters in Damaturu, where some policemen were killed and large quantity of arms and ammunition carted away.

In addition, he was among the terrorists that attacked Damaturu Prison, burnt some primary schools, the State CID office and the Police Safety Vehicle, among others.

Musa added that the suspect has been an active member of the sect long before the crises of July 2009.

The suspect revealed to JTF that he and 15 other members of the organization were intensively trained for three months on G3 and AK 47 rifles, as well as in assassinations and special operations in Niger Republic.

He also revealed names of some security personnel that participated in terrorists attacks in Borno and Yobe states.

Travel › Why Does Saudi Arabia Continue To Humiliate Nigerians? With Pictures by expertman(op): 5:33pm On Sep 29, 2012
"Federal Government on Wednesday in Abuja gave the Saudi Arabia government 24 hours to expedite action in resolving the issues surrounding the detention of some Nigerian female pilgrims.

Vice President Namadi Sambo gave the ultimatum when he summoned the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Khaled Abdrabuh, to his office.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that over 750 Nigerian female pilgrims in Saudi Arabia adjudged by the authorities to be without male companion (Muharram) have been detained in Jeddah and Madinah.

Sambo expressed the countrys displeasure over the treatment being meted out to Nigerian pilgrims performing this years pilgrimage in the holy land.

He said reports available to him suggested that only Nigerian pilgrims were being subjected to such dehumanising treatment.

Sambo, therefore, requested the Saudi Arabian authorities to apply caution and flexibility to allow the pilgrims undertake their sacred religious duties.

He said, Should the Saudi authorities not desire our pilgrims to perform this years Hajj, they should let the country know.

He said that no reasonable and responsible government would sit and fold its arms while its citizens are manhandled.

The VP, therefore, requested the Ambassador to do all within his powers to ensure that the issues were resolved within 24 hours, and the outcome communicated to him.

While explaining the position of his government, Abdrabuh said that Nigeria was not being treated in isolation, and that all the countries participating in the Hajj were affected.

He said that the issue of Muharram for female pilgrims was not a new policy, but that the Saudi government decided to be flexible in the past.

He revealed that the Ministries of Hajj, Foreign Affairs and Interior and the governor of Mecca were meeting in Riyadh, the countrys capital, with a view to resolving the impasse speedily.

Abdrabuh expressed the hope that the matter would be resolved within 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Federal Government on Wednesday suspended airlifting of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia pending the resolution of the diplomatic row between Nigeria and Saudi authorities.

The spokesman for the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Mallam Uba Mana, told our correspondent on the telephone that the suspension would be for 48 hours to allow for the resolution of the crisis over 700 Nigeria female pilgrims detained by Saudi Arabia on their way to Mecca for Hajj.

He said, We have suspended the airlifting of pilgrims for the hajj for 48 hours for now to allow the resolution of the diplomatic crisis.

All flights for the hajj operations are suspended until the crisis is over, that is the new development.

President Goodluck Jonathan approved the constitution of a Presidential delegation to meet with Saudi Arabia over the issues surrounding the detained pilgrims at King Abdul-Azziz International Airport, Jeddah.

A statement on Wednesday night by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Pius Anyim, said the delegation would be led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.

Others are the Minister of State for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nuruddeen Mohammed; Amb. Shehu Galadanchi, Sheikh Sherif Saleh and Chairman, NAHCOM, Muhammad Bello.

He said, The delegation will depart for Saudi Arabia as soon as appointment is finalised with the appropriate authorities.

Meanwhile, NAHCOM confirmed that 159 pilgrims were denied entry into Medina and that they returned aboard the same flight.

However, Nigeria has protested the treatment meted out to its citizens by Saudi Arabia.

Spokesman for NAHCOM, Mallam Uba Mana, said the commission took the decision to avoid a situation where they would be detained by the Saudi authorities.

He said, We received a report this morning that 159 female pilgrims were not allowed in Medina. We immediately asked the flights that took them to return them to the country.
