The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar, yesterday announced the deployment of about 500 additional police officers to Anambra State. Announcing the development at the Governor’s Lodge, Awka, the IGP said the gesture was to boost security in Anambra State and complement the state government’s efforts in crime control. Abubakar was in Anambra on a one-day working visit during which he received 50 brand new pick-up security vans and three armoured pick-up vehicles that were donated to the police by the state government. He said apart from the additional officers that were deployed to the state, he said new divisions and commands will be created in the state to boost security. The inspector-general thanked the state governor, Mr. Peter Obi, for all the supports the police have been receiving from the state government. “I wish to publicly commend the governor on the improved security situation this year, we promise to do more to secure the lives and property of the people,” Abubakar said. Speaking as he gave out the specially equipped vehicles to the state police command, Governor Obi, who said that the priority of his government will continue to include security of lives and property, called on Nigerians to support the Nigeria Police with relevant materials and logistics. Explaining his continuous support to the police, Obi said; “As I earlier mentioned in my New Year broadcast, security of lives and property remains our number one priority in 2013, we believe that we cannot deliver on our promises in an atmosphere of insecurity, we therefore pledge our continued support to the security agencies. “In the light of the above, we are here today to deliver three armoured pick-up vehicles and 50 patrol vehicles fitted with communication gadgets, May I at this juncture reassure the Inspector General of Police and the entire police command that Anambra State will continue to work with them for the security of the state and the country at large.” Obi also urged the inspector-general of police to create more divisions and area commands in Onitsha, Umunze, Ekwulobia and Obosi, among other eligible towns. Elucidating on what he intends to do for the year, Obi said; “Apart from providing these much needed equipment to security agencies, we shall also intensify efforts at expanding the industrial base of the state believing, as we do, that with employment, criminality will reduce drastically.” http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/igp-deploys-500-additional-policemen-to-anambra/

Former Minister of Information, Professor Dora Akunyili, has denied rumours making the round that her eyes are fixed on the governorship of Anambra State. In an interview with newsmen at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Akunyili described the rumour as “unnecessary distraction”. Still fixing her mind on the Anambra Central Senatorial District seat, Akunyili said: “Why should I run for the governorship seat of Anambra State? “Must I run in every election, I de craze? Senate (election) is just two years ahead and when it comes I will run and engage myself in that election and ensure that I guard my votes and not just that I run in that election”. She said she never employed anybody to campaign for her or project her for any election as she is waiting for the right time to engage in political activities. Akunyili pleaded with those spreading the rumour to allow Anambra enjoy the peace that Governor Peter Obi, through the grace of God, has been able to bring to the state. It would be recalled that Akunyili contested against Chris Ngige for the Senatorial seat in the last election, but lost after a re-run. She went to the Election Petition Tribunal to secure her mandate in the election she believed she won, but was time barred by the tribunal after a long delay. Since then, she had largely gone out of circulation, living a quiet life, but came to public view once again after the Federal Government engaged her during the settlement of flood victims last year. Even at that, Akunyili never caught the public glare, preferring to live a private life. Source : http://www.mothertessie.com/politics/count-anambra-guber-race-dora-akunyili/#.UOVBd7o_u-g.facebook

THERE are strong indications that loyalists of the late President Umaru Yar‘Adua have thrown their weight behind the candidacy of former military head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari, for the 2015 presidential election. The group, which moved into the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) late last year to hijack the structure, was reported to have recently agreed to support the former military leader due to the challenges of fielding another candidate and what a source within the group called the need for “a rallying point for the opposition against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next general election. Those in the Yar‘Adua group include many of his ministers from the northern part of the country, his National Security Adviser, many federal lawmakers from the North as well as a retinue of political appointees, who served under the late president. This is coming against the backdrop of alleged renewed romance between the Buhari caucus and the leadership of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) which led to a reported discussion between the two groups in Kaduna recently. Nigerian Tribune investigations showed that Buhari‘s ambition to re-run for the presidency in 2015 secured the backing of the Yar‘Adua group at its recent meeting in Abuja with chieftains of the caucus pledging financial and logistic support to the CPC and the ambition of the general. http://www.mothertessie.com/politics/2015-yaraduas-loyalists-buharis-candidacy/

The armed gang that abducted Professor Kamene Okonjo, 82 years old mother of Minister of finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has allegedly established contact with the family and has demanded N1 billion ransom for her release. The police however denied any such demand was made. This is just as the minister has linked the abduction to those behind the threats she said she had been receiving in recent times following her stance in support of the removal of fuel subsidy. The minister, in a statement said though it is not yet clear whether those behind the crime were the same persons that threatened her, she cannot rule out any possibility at this time “At this point, it is difficult to say whether those behind this action are the same people who have made threats against the Coordinating Minister in the recent past or other elements with hostile motives. “No possibility can be ruled out at this point. This is obviously a very difficult time for the entire Okonjo family. But the family is hopeful of a positive outcome as it fervently prays for the quick and safe return of the matriarch”, she said in a statement signed by her media aide, Paul Nwabuikwu. In Abuja, the sad development, led to near paralysis of official matters at the headquarters of the Finance Ministry yesterday as most key officers were not on seat while those around were not active on duty. Okonjo-Iweala was said to have travelled to Delta, her home state, a source in the ministry told our correspondent. Details of how Prof. Kamene Okonjo, who is also the wife of His Majesty, Prof. Chukwuka Aninshi Okonjo Agbogidi, the reigning Obi of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom was abducted on Sunday from her home in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta state by some daredevil gunmen who allegedly disguised as palace guards, have continued to emerge even as the Delta state government and the police have mounted intensive search for her. Already, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta state has given security agencies a marching order to rescue the professor within 24 hours. The governor, who spoke yesterday morning decried the act as a smear on the state and vowed that the perpetrators must be fished out. “I have given the orders that she (Professor Mrs Kamene Okonjo), must be fished out within the next 24 hours,” he said on Channels TV Sunrise Breakfast programme yesterday. Pressed further, he declined comments, saying, “I don’t want to discuss about the kidnap because of the nature of the person involved. Let’s just leave it at that”, he said. On its own part the Delta state Police Command has assured that it is on the trail of the kidnappers and would soon bring them to book. Delta state Police spokesman, Charles Muka, on Sunday said the police have information that will lead to the arrest of the kidnappers. In the meantime, the family of the victim has blamed security lapses for the kidnap. One of the children of the Okonjo family, Mr. Onyema Okonjo said the operation would not have been successful if the security personnel drafted to the palace were up and doing. “They came in two green Golf cars and it all happened very quickly. I think there were definitely some lapses in terms of security. It is not what it should have been, the people that were supposed to have been here were not here. This gave them the opportunity to do what they wanted to do”, he said. Onyema wondered why an octogenarian woman, a grandmother and great grandmother should be kidnapped. He said that his father, Prof. Chukwuka Okonjo, the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku and Okonjo-Iweala were on their away to Ogwashi-Uku when the incident happened. Speaking on the matter, Delta state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ikechukwu Aduba, said that this was not the time to trade blames, but promised that any officer indicted would be punished. Aduba said that in every case of kidnapping, there was always an insider, adding that investigation was on to unravel the situation and free Kanenne unhurt. Source: Peoplesdaily

President Jonathan says the money is needed to make petrol available to Nigerians for Christmas Barely three weeks to the end of the year, President Goodluck Jonathan has submitted a supplementary budget of N161.6 billion to the National Assembly. The President is seeking the approval of the Senate and the House of Representatives for the money which is to be used for settlement of cumulated fuel subsidy arrears owed marketers. In a letter addressed to both chambers, the president said a forensic audit of subsidy claims showed an initial provision of N888.I billion for the settlement (for 2012), was underestimated. The president urged speedy approval of the funds to forestall supply glitches, with the festive season approaching. The Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, had assured Nigerians that the petrol scarcity being witnessed across Nigeria would be resolved before the Yuletide. The Minister blamed the scarcity on the determination to ensure transparency in the subsidy payments. President Jonathan’s hurried proposal has now shown how the Federal Government plans to ensure petrol availability by Christmas. Paying some of the marketers quickly could make them release their stock for the festive season. But the lawmakers appeared not in a hurry to get the proposal passed; raising concerns instead with the government’s fund receipts and releases. A member of the House, Abdulrahman Terab, had in a motion moved under matters of urgent public importance expressed concern that revenue “receipts so far for 2012, confirmed to be higher than what was projected for the 2012 fiscal regime,” but that the fourth quarter capital releases made to government offices for December were found to be inconsistent. “Most, if not all capital projects captured in the 2012 appropriation will henceforth remain abandoned resulting in the waste of all the resources that we have labored to commit,” Mr. Terab said. The controversial revenue The House of Reps also said, Tuesday, that billions of naira recovered from petrol subsidy payments and persons involved in the pension scam, as well as unspent funds from the 2012 budget and excess non-oil revenue, are missing from estimated government revenues for 2013. Lawmakers said despite all government agencies meeting with targeted revenue profiles for 2012, releases for project funding remained dismal, further buttressing the notoriously poor budget implementation. Still, the excess revenue have not been listed by the federal government as part of government’s revenue in the 2013 budget, the lawmakers said while debating a request for more funding by President Goodluck Jonathan, and a motion criticizing the performance on Tuesday. Mr. Terab said various sums of money saved from non oil excess revenues, 2012 unspent revenues, Pension Reform and fake subsidy claims were neither captured in the 2013 budget proposals, nor listed as opening balances for 2013. House committees on Finance and Appropriation are to compile within a week a comprehensive report of government revenues, expenditures, and ”unforeseen savings” during the 2012 fiscal year. Non- remitting agencies Meanwhile, the House Committee on Finance said of the more than 60 revenue agencies of the federal government, FG, only one remitted up to half of its generated revenues to the FG. The startling statistics further highlighted how public funds are often misused unilaterally by government establishments in the face of serious national needs begging for funding. The Chairman of the Committee, Abdulmumini Jibrin, said out of the 60 agencies, only one remitted up to 50 per cent to the federation account.

Rebecca Blake, 29, and Irish man Conor McRedmond, 28, who had only met that day, were said to have stripped naked and indulged in sexual intercourse after a 10 hour drinking session. The pair claimed they were just hugging and that the taxi driver had only reported them because they had caught him taking them a long way home. But the Dubai Misdemeanours Court found them guilty after the driver and a police man insisted they were being rather more intimate. The pair have been released on bail pending an appeal hearing which could see the sentence suspended in January but they will have to spend Christmas in Dubai as their passports have been taken away. Their lawyer Shaker Al Shammary said: “They are not guilty on the sex charges and will not go to jail.” Blake, a recruitment consultant from Dorking in Surrey, and McRedmond, a welder from Tullamore in County Offaly, were arrested on May 4 after meeting just hours earlier in a hotel bar. The pair had been knocking back glasses of white wine and vodka at a drink-all-you-like £35-a-head brunch in the Rotana Hotel. When the brunch finished at 4pm, the pair moved on to the happy hour at the hotel bar before carrying on drinking at the Irish Village pub nearby. Blake, who admitted drinking four glasses of vodka and five glasses of wine, caught a taxi at 10.30pm outside the bar with McRedmond, who had guzzled “six or seven” vodka drinks. The Pakistani taxi driver Qaiser Khan, 29, told the court in a written statement that the couple seemed confused and repeatedly changed their minds about where they were going while McRedmond swigged from a bottle. He said: “I told him it was not allowed to have alcohol inside the taxi but he drank it and threw the bottle out of the window. “The next thing, I looked in the mirror and saw the woman sitting on the man’s thighs. “She was naked, moving up and down and making sounds.” Mr Khan said Blake moaned for two minutes while writhing on top of McRedmond. He pulled over when he spotted a police patrol car and called officer Abdullah Obaid Khamis over by beeping his horn and saying: “Come and see what they are doing.” In his witness statement, Mr Khamis said he found the pair still having sex and interrupted them by tapping on the window. He said: “They kept having sex for four minutes and then I knocked on the glass so they stopped and got dressed. “The man’s shirt was open, his trousers were down to his knees and the woman was not wearing any underwear.” The taxi driver claimed Blake offered him “a lot of money” to tell prosecutors the couple were kissing rather than having sex but he refused. In the couple’s defence, Mr Al Shammary said at the last hearing that there were gaping inconsistencies in the witness accounts. Neither witness gave evidence in the trial, although their statements were submitted to judges in the misdemeanours court. The lawyer said the pair could not have been having sex because Blake was on her period at the time, adding: “This is Dubai, not a mosque. Everyone drinks.” The pair pleaded not guilty to charges of having consensual sex and indecency, which related to stripping off in public, but were convicted on both counts. They are the latest Britons to fall foul of the United Arab Emirates’ strict Islamic laws preventing drunkenness in public and sex outside marriage. In 2008, Vince Acors, 38, and Michelle Palmer, 40, were convicted of indecency and jailed for three months after being caught having sex on a beach. The sentence was suspended on appeal. In 2009 Charlotte Adams and Ayman Najafi spent a month behind bars after an Emirati woman complained they were kissing in public.

OPERATIVES of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have concluded arrangements to declare former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Abubakar Audu, wanted, following his escape from arrest yesterday in Abuja. Audu, who was alleged to have fraudulently enriched himself to the tune of over N4 billion while he was governor of Kogi State between 1999 and 2003, was said to have fled when the operatives stormed his 32, Suleiman Barau Street, Aso Villa, Asokoro, Abuja residence in the early hours of yesterday. The latest move to arrest the ex-governor, according to a statement by the acting Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, followed a Supreme Court ruling of November 23, 2012, which dismissed the ex-governor’s appeal to continue to protract his corruption trial by EFCC. The Supreme Court ruling, therefore, clears the way for his fresh arraignment. The former governor of the Confluence State, it would be recalled, was arrested in Jos in 2006 after a six-month manhunt by operatives of the Commission, before his earlier arraignment at the Kogi State High Court on December 1, 2006, on an 80-count criminal charge of conspiracy, fraud, criminal breach of trust and embezzlement of public fund. The EFCC had, while the case lasted at the High Court, caused the issuance of nolle prosequi by the former Attorney- General of Kogi State, Dr. John Alewo Agbonika, and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief Bayo Ojo, on February 8, 2007 for the case to be discontinued at the Kogi State High Court as the Commission claimed to have lost faith in the handling of the matter by the State High Court. Dr. Alewo Agbonika had said then: “In my capacity as the AG (Attorney-General) of Kogi State in collaboration with the AG of the Federation and by virtue of the power vested in me by Section 211 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 and Section 253 of the CPC and all the powers enabling me in that behalf, I, Dr. John Alewo Agbonika, hereby, inform this honourable court that I no longer intend to continue the prosecution of this case in collaboration with the AG of the Federation to whom I had given a fiat to prosecute this case”. However, rather than discontinue the matter in the spirit of the nolle prosequi, the trial judge, Justice Medupin, went ahead as he further referred two questions to the Court of Appeal for determination. In a judgement delivered by Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour, the Supreme Court held that the Court of Appeal was wrong to consider the questions referred to it for determination, after being aware from the records of Appeal that a nolle prosequi had been filed. “This is so because there is/was nothing before the trial court, so there would be nothing for the Court of Appeal to send back. It amounted to an academic exercise for the Court of Appeal to waste judicial time considering questions from a case that is no longer in existence. There was no longer live issue to be considered by the Court of appeal in view of nolle prosequi filed in the trial court,” the Supreme Court ruled. Part of the setback suffered by the Commission in the prosecution of the case was the filing of several applications by the defendant for stay of proceedings at the High Court, pending the final determination of the appeal. Audu had on December 12, 2011, through his lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), filed the stay of proceedings motion supported by 11-paragraph Affidavit. This was 26 clear days after the Supreme Court on November 16, 2011, struck out a similar application he filed on January 24, 2011.

A man was arrested and charged with murder after killing a woman in order to have sex with her dead body, according topolice reports. Pastor John Douglas White, 55, told police he had fantasized for two weeks about killing the 24-year-old woman and have sex with her dead body, according to a newspaper report. Judge Paul Chamberlain ordered White be held without bond after a video arraignment Thursday, November 1, in Isabella County on charges of first-degree murder and open murder in the killing of Rebecca Gay. Isabella County Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski held a press conference on Thursday about the disappearance of Gay. Gay was last seen at her home on M-20 near Coldwater Road in Broomfield Township, about 10 miles west of Mount Pleasant, about 6:50 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, police said. After she was reported missing, police identified White as a person of interest and was taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning. He was uncooperative at first, police said, but eventually told them where to find the body of Gay. White told police he had four or five 24-ounce beers before going to Gay’s mobile home at 2 am. Gay and White both lived in the South Valley Trailer Park in Broomfield M-20 in Coldwater. Police believe White came and attacked Gay in the hallway, with a rubber mallet hitting her several times in the head and squeezing a wrap tie around her neck to stop her breathing. White told police he dragged the victim’s body to the kitchen and got naked, but does not remember having sex with her, according to the report. White said he put the body of Gay, along with the harness, clothing and bloody rags in the back of his truck, police said in the press conference, dumping her body in the street. White told police he returned to the home after dumping Gay and drove her truck to the bar barn door to make it appear that she was kidnapped, throwing her phone, car keys and purse in a dumpster in the trailer park, Mioduszewski said. In 1994, White pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter and was sentenced to 8 to 15 years in prison related to the disappearance of a woman from Comstock Township in Kalamazoo County. In addition, White pleaded no contest in 1981 to one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm for stabbing a woman in Calhoun County. The Oscar and Tony Award-winning actress said in a recent interview that her singing voice has not recovered after botched operation to remove non-cancerous throat nodules in 1997. Damage from the operation has permanently limited her range and her ability to hold notes. “The operation that I had left me without a voice and without a certain piece of my vocal chords,” said Andrews, who has starred in several quintessential stage and film musicals including My Fair Lady. The actress says she can still speak “pretty well” and can still hit a few bass notes, “So if you wanted a rendition of ‘Old Man River’ you might get it, but I’m not singing as much these days.” Andrews has sung publicly several times since then including a performance in the 2004 film “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement” and in a 2010 London concert, but called those “speak-singing.” The 77-year old, however, says she has rediscovered her voice in her books and in directing theater. Her latest children’s book, “Little Bo in London: The Ultimate Adventure of Bonnie Boadicea” has just been released by Harper Collins. It’s the fourth and final book in the series about a possibly magical ship’s cat that travels the world with the man who rescued her. It’s the 27th book she’s co-written with her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton. She’s also directing a musical theatre adaptation of another of her books, “The Great American Mousical.” The show, about a troop of acting mice living beneath the floors of a famous Broadway theatre, is being performed at the Goodspeed Theatre in Connecticut through Sunday. Andrews thinks it “would do very well on Broadway,” where she says she would like to direct and produce. Andrews says in a strange way that she feels fortunate that she no longer can sing because it pushed her to find a “different way” of using her voice. Paraphrasing a line from her Sound of Music character Maria von Trapp, Andrews noted that “When one door closes another window opens.” Source: AP

A man was angry that his wife was pregnant so he decided to cut out the unborn child out from her stomach, according to police reports. The Louisiana man was arrested Tuesday, according to reports. Police responded to an emergency call at the couple’s home around 11:15 am. They came to a horrible scene, where Jeffrey Reynolds, the suspect, 31-years-old, allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp object, stabbing her in the abdomen and removed her baby from it. Reynolds was still at the scene when police arrived. The man struggled, but police were finally able to take him into custody. Reynolds’ wife, 28-years-old, who was eight months pregnant, survived. The baby did not. Emergency medical workers repeatedly tried to resuscitate the premature infant, but in vain. The woman’s name has not been released. Sheriff Jason Ard from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office said the woman was listed in stable condition at a local hospital. “It was a very horrible scene where our deputies had to respond,” Ard said. Ard described the scene police found when they arrived at the couple’s home: “Reynolds had cut his wife’s stomach open and pulled out the unborn baby. He was very combative and it was a struggle to get him into custody.” Reynolds was taken to an area hospital for blood tests and a medical examination, Ard said. Detectives are still investigating the scene in the house. They still have not found a weapon. “We know it was a sort of sharp instrument,” he added. The couple has another son, who was in school at the time of the attack.

Wondering who Fausat Balogun is or was in this case? Well, she's the 72 year old woman who was arrested in Brazil for carrying drugs (See the story HERE)http://lindaikeji..com/2012/03/alleged-drug-offence-72-year-old.html Unfortunately she passed away on the 30th of October, 2012 due to a mild stroke caused by the high blood pressure which she'd been suffering from before arriving at the penitentiary. She died at the hospital for women inside the penitentiary in Brazil. No family member came for her body so she was buried at the Vila Formosa Municipal Graveyard in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The trip to Brazil was actually her first time out of Nigeria, and some heartless people decided to use her as a drug courier without her knowledge. She died in that country and was buried there. Truly sad!

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Ibrahim Balogun, a 25-year-old man accused of perpetrating a series of murders in Somolu, Bariga and Fadeyi in the state. PUNCH Metro had reported on June 25, 2012, that Balogun also known as Small Jpron, was declared wanted following a gang-related violence between Shaggy Boys and Downtown Boys which left at least five people dead in Ilaje, Bariga. Balogun, who also goes by the pseudonym, Asarailu, which means death in Arabic, is said to be the deputy gang leader of Downtown Boys and a member of a sect, Eiye Confraternity also known as EFCC Boys. PUNCH Metro learnt that Balogun was arrested on Bawahala Street near Pedro Police Station on Saturday. A reliable police source narrated the circumstances that led to Balogun’s arrest to our correspondent. He said, “On Friday, around 11:30am, Yusuf Adebowale, a resident of Somolu, took a commercial motorcycle to FirstBank branch in Fadeyi to withdraw N100, 000. As he was withdrawing the money from ATM, the okada rider, later identified as Dare, informed Balogun and his gang. “As Adebowale left the bank, just a few metres away, Balogun and three other gang members attacked him and stole the money, phone and a wristwatch. “Adebowale reported the matter at Onipanu Police Station and also told youths in the area about his ordeal. Less than an hour later, Dare, the okada rider, was apprehended by residents and taken to the police station where he confessed. “Later that night, he led us to Balogun’s hideout but Balogun was not around. One of the policemen, identified as Abu, however released Dare without authorisation.” Our correspondent learnt that the following day, around 11:30am, Balogun and four others allegedly went to rob residents of Bawahala Street and a woman alerted the police. The police source said, “In broad daylight, Balogun and four gang members, heavily armed, went to rob. We received a distress call and policemen headed by Inspector Smart, rushed down to the scene. “The four others escaped but Balogun was arrested and taken to Pedro Police Station where he identified himself as Ibrahim Oriyomi Folarin.” Our correspondent learnt that the policemen could not identify Balogun even though the police had declared him wanted. However, scores of residents stormed the police station and quickly identified him. It was learnt that there was pandemonium at the station as residents who had fallen victims to Balogun and his gang asked the police to hand him over. Youths in the area were said to have brought a tyre and petrol which they threatened to set the suspect ablaze. But the Special Anti-Robbery Squad took Balogun away and this restored normalcy to the station. When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone. She said Balogun had been on police wanted list for a long time. “I just spoke to the officer in charge of SARS and he confirmed the incident to me. He said the suspect (Balogun) is accused of murders, attempted murders and robberies,” she said. Source: PUNCH

The Ogun State Government has awarded road construction contracts worth N90 billion to four construction companies including Hitech Construction Company Ltd , believed to be owned by former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu . 24 year old Nigerian/American woman, Jessica Tata, was sentenced to 80 years in prison on Monday November 20th after being found guilty of the death of one of four children killed in a fire at her home day care in Houston. 16-month-old Elias Castillo and three other toddlers died after Tata left them unsupervised at her home while she went to a nearby store. Prosecutors say she left a pan of oil cooking atop a stovetop burner and that this ignited the February 2011 blaze. There were 7 children when the fire started, four died, three survived. Tata still faces three more counts of felony murder in relation to the other children who died, and three counts of abandoning a child and two counts of reckless injury to a child in relation to three who were hurt. So she will be getting more years added to the 80 as other cases come up. I'm sorry to say this, but I think she deserves the sentence! How the heck are you going to leave 1year olds unsupervised?
