Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano ,yesterday flagged off the construction of a new housing estate estimated to gulp about N1.4 trillion in Awka, capital city of the state.
The project, which would consist of about 100 units of various types of houses, including duplexes and high rise apartments and sitting on 20 hectares of land donated by Ezinano Community in Awka South Local Government Area, is expected to be completed within 18 months.
The estate, which is financed by Senator Annie Okonkwo, who represented Anambra Central in the 6th Senate, has provisions for a shopping complex, offices, a police post, schools and hospital.
It was gathered that the investor would contribute 90 per cent of the funds, while the state government would contribute 10 per cent.
On completion, the profit sharing formula would be 85 per cent for the investor, 10 per cent for the state government and 5 per cent for the host community.
In a remark, Obiano appealed to the youths of the community not to disrupt work on the site and noted that the project would create about 2,000 direct and indirect jobs for the community.
He said with the takeoff of the project, his administration had attracted investments of about 4.8 billion dollars since assumption of office, adding that the project, known as Hills Estate was the 27th company he had attracted to the state.
Earlier in his speech, Senator Okonkwo expressed happiness that he was able to bring to Anambra the type of projects he had seen in other major cities in the world, noting that the investment could not have been possible if Governor Obiano had not created a conducive environment for the project.
Okonkwo said though Obiano had excelled in security provision, his greatest achievement since coming to office was the unification of Anambra people, irrespective of their political leanings.
“Obiano is a governor that does not discriminate in the development of the state and it is what he is doing that is attracting our people from all parts of the world to come home and invest.
With what he is doing, Anambra State will soon become a home for tourism in Nigeria and it will not take long for the state to become self sufficient in many sectors of the economy. He therefore needs the support of Anambra people to actualize his programmes” Okonkwo stated.

A pan Igbo socio- cultural group, Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF) is seeking audience with American President-elect, Mr. Donald Trump, just as it has sent a congratulatory message to him on his victory.
ADF is a corporate body of intellectuals, clergy, traditional rulers, businessmen, politicians, women and youth of Igbo origin who are working to overcome the state of endemic corruption, political and economic marginalisation in the country.
In a November 12, 2016 congratulatory letter and signed by Prof. Uzodinma Nwala, president and Prof Nath Aniekwu, secretary, respectively, the group said Trump’s role in global affairs and his importance in the world can not be over emphasised.
In the letter, the group described the Igbo Nation as one of the three biggest ethnic nationalities that were brought together with several others for the administrative convenience of the British Colonial Regime to make up the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1914, mainly to serve British interest.
It alleged ethnic exclusion, genocide, systemic alienation of the Igbo Ethnic Nationality in the Nigerian Federation, a situation which it said had worsened since the end of the Biafra war in 1970.
‘’We Igbos have no sense of belonging in the political contraption known as Nigeria today. We have also been severally unable to fulfil our legitimate aspirations as a people in the country as a result of its lopsided hegemonic and corruption–driven contrivance.
‘’Igbos are found across the globe, being a great cosmopolitan people with the immense God-given gift of an entrepreneurial spirit and culture. Since the second decade of the last Century, Igbos have emigrated in large numbers to the United States where they found a second home in search of education and attracted by the spirit and practice of self-actualisation, acknowledgment of merit, embodied in the American Dream and the core essence of American democracy; themselves being children of a society that is traditionally republican and democratic in practice well before the inception of the British colonial rule’’.
ADF said Trump’s victory “represents a hope for a new world order in which America shall chart an independent foreign policy, especially in Africa, devoid of British colonialist manipulation and interests.”
While collectively praying for Trump’s success through God’s blessings, ADF offered fervent prayers for his administration to help usher in a new world order, and reverse America’s pro-British policy in Africa.
‘’ADF looks forward to and will eagerly embrace a new American foreign policy under your leadership that recognises the inalienable fundamental rights of Peoples to the protection of their ancestral homes, their lives, property, religion and their faith, to equity and justice and, above all, their right to self-determination’’.
The group recalled that many prominent Igbo leaders and intellectuals were brought up in several American universities including the late Africa’s most famous pan-Africanists, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe , renowned world Bank Executive Director, Ngozi Okonjo—Eweala, China Achebe, Professor Barth Okechukwu Nnaji and several others.
It also expressed the hope that under Trump’s leadership, Igbo citizens who wishs to live and work in the USA would be guaranteed protection and freedom under law by your administration.

It is no longer news that as it stands today, the social media is taking the place of the Nigerian main stream media, and so many reasons could be responsible for this. Just a few years back as the heat of politicking ahead of the 2015 general elections were on, the former President Goodluck Jonathan was almost painted demon while in office, the media had a field-day, the former was dressed daily in clumsy attires of opinions to man him look stupid, clueless, wicked, and self centered. While it was true that so many things went wrong under his watch, it is obvious that he was not as clueless as he was made to look after all as barely fifteen months after his exit, the people now know the true definition of hardship. Apparently, he was better in charge of the economy. It is now clear that a few power hungry individuals just wanted him out in their own interests and did not allow his policies to come to fruition.

Now, the same social media has begun another onslaught on MMM global. Each morning you wake up you must see an article warning people about MMM, calling it a Ponz scheme and the rest. From the history of Nigeria Social Media, it is easy to discern that some power interest figures are calling for the former's head. The question I ask is this : why should people cry more than the bereaved.
It is funny somehow that most of the people sponsoring this onslaught own big businesses including fuel stations where they would rather hold the poor who buy from then ransome instead of them not to make profit. Many of this big wigs are the ones benefiting even from the current hardship of the people. Those that would be mostly hit are the Joint Stock Companies because the people have seen a better place to put their money. No wonder SEC has already raised alarm.

I am an MMM community members and I can tell you that from the way it operates, more than 98% of those in it know the risks involved and they don't need any sermon from any body. Little wonder then that despite the onslaught, it is even getting stronger.

It is worthy of note that MMM is in several other countries including India, Turkey, Zimbabwe, South Africa among others. The only places MMM has had issues are Russia, South Africa and China. Let's look at Russia, MMM Russia started having issues when the government sued them for tax evasion. Of course, how would you pay tax on money you didn't collect. MMM does not collect money from any one. It was an insensible thing for the government to do.

Let's look at South Africa, they had two option of either the usual 30% return or the 100% return on the Republic of Bitcoin that actually failed in South Africa. Those who had their money in Bitcoin were migrated to the normal 30‰ and as I write, MMM South Africa is still alive and well. That of China was outrightly banned because it was labelled a Ponzi scheme.

Now this is exactly where the Nigerian conventional business men want to cash in. They feel that if they can label MMM a Ponzi scheme, then government intervention would be imminent and if it does happen, all Nigerians money would remain within their scan. On its own, MMM is not designed to fail.

Finally, before anyone dismisses MMM as a Ponzi, they should make sure that it is out of their own conviction based on their findings and not what the Nigerian media has to say as it is greatly manipulated for the interest of a few just like what happened to former president Goodluck Jonathan.
