You actually have not learnt Vue enough, that's why.
Like I said earlier, altho we can implement the same thing using vanilla languages,
frameworks were meant to simplify things and make us iterate faster.

yeah. I am just one week into it. but there is just this urge to get my stuff done without vue.js. Why do I have to install a package to make a post request on Vue? something I can easily do with jQuery or vanilla. I just haven't seen the value yet but hopefully I will get there one day
Programming / Re: Please Review The SPA I'm Building With Angular by explorer250(m): 10:29pm On Jan 08, 2021

Sooo true.
I once read somewhere that 80% of websites out there running on React and Vue and Angular could have necessarily been written in vanilla JS
or jQuery; and don't necessarily have to use those Frameworks. And still maintain the same performance and looks.
Take that to the bank!

I am planning to release a free personal project with lots of features (a forum) on GitHub. my problem is that I want to do the frontend in Vue but having difficulties implementing those features. meanwhile, I can easily achieve those features with vanilla JavaScript or jQuery.

Nothing new, sir. All SPAs do this.
In fact, JQuery can even do it.

lol. I have been doing vue.js for about a week now and to be honest, I have not seeing what vue.js can do that I cannot achieve with vanilla JavaScript or jQuery. infact, jQuery gives me better animation than Vue(maybe there is more to Vue animation than what I am currently seeing) . I prefer doing stuffs with vanilla js because it gives me more flexibility though I have to write more code

Thank you all for dropping both positive and negative comments as regards to this mini side project.

This is just a project they built while learning Web Programming under 2 months. Learning HTML5/CSS3 and Javascript within few months is not easy.

They will move into more advanced features in the second-batch of the training soon.

Please they have no experience, knowledge of programming before enrolling.

This ever their first experience and I believe they will improve.
this is great! you did a wonderful job with these guys. don't ever let the words of these WordPress installers that can't write a single line of code discourage you. if this guy did this in two months of learning without any framework, then he must be commended. I am sure that by the next six months he will be a guru. I am an advocate of learning how to code first before jumping into frameworks. If Larry page of Google was a framework junkie, he would not be able to write the famous page rank algorithm.

Webmasters / Re: Most Nairaland Web Builders Are Not Reliable by explorer250(m): 1:20am On Nov 12, 2020
bigmodo:
I have noticed that most webmasters here are not reliable. I gave like two different people work to build site for me, the first dude said he will conclude the site in a week and it is going to months now without any end in site. The worst problem is that his number is not going and he is not replying my WhatsApp message.

The second person promised he will deliver in a week but it is running into weeks now.

It is always I will finish this week, I will finish next week. The worst part is that they were quick to collect part payment and were firing for me to collect remaining payment for one reasoning or the other and I foolishly gave.

I am gonna publish the first guy details cuz he has promised me many times and failed. But for the second guy, if he doesn't deliver my site this week, I will publish his details here.

nice article

but i want to correct your statement that "wordpress can't do much".

when you learn how to build themes/plugins you'll realize that WordPress can do a lot.

if you can actually write themes and plugins, then you can actually write code and might not need WordPress to do the job!

Op... I don't think there is need for a code test before giving a job... U could just ask the developer for his portfolio..

Not everyone would be ready to do test and someone who does not know coding would not know the Kain test to give

Just My opinion

you are misunderstanding the write up. Devskiller conducts the test and inform the employer of the capability of the potential employee

I tote agree with number 1.

You want a world class forum more sophisticated than nairaland but all you can budget for it is 35k, its like they are doing u.

Someone from Nl contacted about an investment portal, after collecting the required info I gave him the price breakdown, suggest a domain for him, he then went mute.
After like two month, he was asking if I can fix some bugs, alas, it was the domain I suggested, I gave him the price again (30k) to fix the issues, he went mute again, after like another two month, he now contacted and started reading from the book of lamentation on how many people have scammed him and how I should help him fix the site and he will pay midway, after some consideration, I agree and request for cPanel logins, that's when he said the previous developer did not and will not release it, and thus asked how much to start all over. I simply comment our first price breakdown and since then he has went mute again
Good riddance to bad rubbish

However, about 70% of my clients are from nairaland which I really appreciate and mostly do not have any cause of regrets , there are still good people out there looking for quality work

I have encountered exactly this same problem severally. one wanted me to develop a fully functional vtu website that does not rely on reseller api for 11k. a job that 200k can't cover the expenses

A little intro about myself. I am Clinton a freelance full stack developer.

With the increasing number of fake developers and scammers littered all over this section, it is a source of worry to some of us who get the bulk of our clients from this section.

I have come to realize that there are reasons why developer seeking clients get scammed and i am going to list out these reasons.

1. You want a great job for a very cheap price: This is the top reason why most clients get scammed and I believe that over 90% of the scams recorded on Nairaland is because of this. I keep on speaking on this. Programming is not "easy". When you want a developer to integrate top of the earth features into your website and all you can offer is a cheap amount that cant even fuel the generator, my brother, you will definitely get scammed! and you know what? I don't feel pity for this category of victims because they deserve it(hey, that is my personal opinion).

2. The developer cant really do the job: I personally don't believe in "collect the job, learn how to do it later" . So many People are claiming to be developers with incredible programming skills but in reality most of them are just WordPress theme installers. As a client you should know that WordPress cant really do much and hiring these set of developers and putting very high expectations on them will definitely end in disaster

3. The person you are trying to hire is an outright scammer: So many people in this section are actually scammers "looking for their daily bread" . What actually prompted me to create this thread is because I just saw a notorious scammer bidding for a job in this section and i know the client will definitely fall for him because the scammer usually offer incredibly cheap services.

How to avoid getting scammed

I have just one solution to this scam problem and I discovered it reduces the possibility or probability of getting scammed by over 95%(not a statement of fact but it is my opinion).

Subject any developer you are hiring to a test! No scammer will have the time to start solving algorithms and answering questions in Php or JavaScript he doesn't know because he wants to scam you.

I have been doing a job for the past 2 months and before i was hired by my client i was subjected to a test from devskiller. I don't think any scammer or quack will have the patience or skill needed to take any online test. Even if they do, they will definitely fail! You can google about devskiller or any other skill testing platform and i think the tests are free. So as a potential employer make sure to subject your potential employee to a test to ascertain if he actually possesses the skills he claims to have.

devskiller is like dragnet. They conduct the test and give the employer the score

In summary. As an employer, pay well for jobs and test the skills and authenticity of your employee!

I need a developer that can build a standalone ad service like nairaland ad for a high traffic website with users around the world
- Ad banner 300 x 100 (banner resizing ability required)
- Advertiser should be able to select its country & currency before payment and pay in all currencies
- Ad placement by category e.g sports, entertainment, services, finance
- Ability to facilitate ad payment from India & Pakistan (Popular payment system in India & Pakistan)
- QR payment for Japanese and Korea users.
- Giftcards, recharge cards, and wire transfer for African users
- Ability to pay by Paypal

You are doing things that can make you a scam candidate. This is not a small project and I hope you can pay for it. Beware of 20k developers. Another thing is that what you requested Is not impossible but very hard, I mean on the ability to accept all currencies. Good luck and just be careful

Okono and its sister field are in the western delta, so most likely off delta state. Run from NPDC in Benin. The anchor to NNPC's proprietary production ambitions.

I thought Ondo was always that high tho. Lagos I know is not more than even 3k so the 40 threw me off. That area tending towards dahomey basin isnt as prolific as the ND (onshore. Shalloe water and deepwater). I mean 40 is a lot, esp if it's coming from one development.

That being said, no I didnt know about addax in Imo. Sounds exciting. What is the production rate supposed to be like ? So Addax will temporarily surpass agip in production ? Cos they're both doing 98 to 100 k a day for now.

the discovery was around 2008 and it was termed the biggest addax discovery in IMO state. Production started around 2019. I know this because I witnessed the laying of pipeline from izombe flow station through my community (mgbele) to awomamma in oru east local government. though I don't know the production capacity
Politics / Re: The Nine Top Oil Producing States In Nigeria by explorer250(m): 7:03am On Sep 05, 2020

Presence of hydrocarbon deposits yes. But not an active producer. Exploration was done by Nnpc but they arent producing anything. Problem would be mostly lack of inslfrastructure for aggregation and evacuation. When ure talking about a few million barrels in reserves n 100 billion scf of gas(kolmani), the logical thing would be to develop the locally (esp the gas).
Not commercial enough.

Abia/Imo has the advantage of being adjacent to the cash cows that make the evacuation easier. Sometimes the production is oiterally side by side, or even the same acreage across statelines, with the niger delta states (e.g Egbema).

Nnpc is mostly focused on okono now. The goal is to get it to 250 k bopd from the current 130.

Everything looks fine, except the Lagos figure. Dpr reports say something else.
everything doesn't look fine even the ondo figure is inflated. Edo produces more than ondo. in fact IMO will soon surpass ondo due to commencement of production by addax in awommamma in oru east local government of IMO state. where is okono located? akwa-ibom?
Politics / Re: The Nine Top Oil Producing States In Nigeria by explorer250(m): 12:39am On Sep 05, 2020
I have addressed this issue before and I hate it when people deliberately like to misinterpret facts. neither Lagos nor ondo produce more crude oil than Edo state. intact Lagos produces less than 1000bpd of crude oil. I don't know where this mischievous op got 40000 barrels from. as can be seen by the data released Lagos made 3.8 million in 6months from 13% derivation which amounts to less than 1 million a month. by geopolitical zones south south is the highest producing region followed by south East with an approximate earning of 9bn in 6months and south west came last with an approximate earning of 8bn in six months.
IMO state + abia state = 5bn + 3.9bn = app 9bn
ondo state + Lagos state = 7.6bn + 3.8m = app 8bn.
this data is from the first 6months of 13% derivation from January to June 2019.
please we should stop deliberately trying to misrepresent facts
