Dubai police hope that the hoverbike can help them get to crime scenes that would otherwise be hard to reach. The flying bike can carry 47stone in weight and fly for up to 25 minutes carrying its rider. It can rise up to just over 16ft in the air, and hit speeds of up to 43mph. An inbuilt safety mechanism limits the maximum speed and altitude of the aircraft in order to prevent accidents. Dubai police at the expo said it could enable police to get to crime scenes that would otherwise be hard to reach with a car or a motorbike, such as traffic jams.

Criminals in Dubai ought to be shaking in their boots, as police in the Arab Emirate have introduced a flying motorbike. A new video shows a Dubai police officer testing out the new hoverbike, which has rotors instead of wheels that allow it to fly. The hoverbike, capable of flying 16ft above ground, is seen emblazoned with Dubai police emblems as it is tested for the cameras. With the hoverbike, police could get to the middle of traffic jams, which would be difficult with a normal car or even a motorbike. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4969014/Dubai-officer-ready-police-streets-HOVERBIKE.html

Divorce is one of the most difficult tribulations a family can go through, but unless you’ve experienced it first hand, it’s hard to visualize exactly how much damage it causes. An artist known only by the pen-name ‘Mac’ has illustrated how divorce affected their family in a simple, yet deeply saddening comic

Hundreds of people are still missing in massive wildfires which have swept through California killing at least 29 people and damaging thousands of homes, businesses and other buildings. Ash that resembles snow covers streets and houses in Northern California in overhead images that make clear the devastating destruction caused by wildfires that have been ripping through the area since Sunday night- burning through more than 170,000 acres of land. Photos taken on Wednesday show the huge plumes of smoke rising from communities ravaged by the fires across California, which have killed 23 people so far in the north and left nearly 300 unaccounted for as an additional 20,000 across the state have been told to evacuate their homes. Three days after the fires began firefighters were still unable to gain control of the blazes which have left behind apocalyptic scenes, entire neighborhoods reduced to ash, 3,500 homes and businesses completely destroyed, and some of the worst air pollution the area has ever seen. Firefighters started to contain the blazes earlier in the week before gusts of 20 to 40mph winds and extremely dry conditions joined forces on Wednesday, threatening to spread the flames even further. Among the tens of thousands of properties that have been damaged are Napa's wineries, causing wine to flow life a river under smoldered debris after escaping charred barrels. Officials say that 22 fires spanning more than 300 square miles an area equivalent to the size of New York City and still raging http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4972034/Satellite-pictures-capture-scope-California-wildfires.html

Students at the University of Hawaii received an ominous email on Monday, titled 'In the event of a nuclear attack'. The email gave students at the school, which has its main campus in Manoa on the big island, details about what to do if there was a nuclear strike on the island.' In light of concerns about North Korea missile tests, state and federal agencies are providing information about nuclear threats and what to do in the unlikely event of a nuclear attack and radiation emergency,' the UH email said. The email warned students and staff to listen for the emergency sirens and to follow instructions to shelter in place if an attack were to happen. The email was sent out as tensions between North Korea and the U.S. continue to escalate. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been ambitiously developing a nuclear-capable intercontinental missile, and experts believe they will have one sometime next year. That puts Hawaii well within the reach of Kim's nuclear arsenal. Last month, a group of Hawaii lawmakers met behind closed doors with the state's Emergency Management Agency to discuss preparedness for a strike. The state is currently working to educate residents on basic preparedness such as having enough food on hand for 14 days. 'When you hear us speak to the public, it's going to start off with the majority talking about how to prepare your family for major emergencies getting your act together,' Toby Clairmont, the executive director of Hawaii EMA, said, according to the Civil Beat. 'And then it's going to include this (preparation for a nuclear attack) as one hazard in addition to hurricanes and tsunamis and other things.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4967148/U-Hawaii-sends-students-email-nuclear-attack-prep.html
