Things have changed, kids are getting smarter daily thanks to technology(Internet, cable&devices). You see them these days writing waec and having distinctions all over. At 15 or 16, you see them in the University. Two decades back at 25-30, you see men still running from one village, miracle centre to another. Pursuing Mathematics/English or Chemistry for 5yrs. Writing waec in the school farm, under cocoa trees. Contributing #50 in the hall for the invigilators Then they start dictating OBJ in the hall, including wrong answers. Those days of Keypoint. Then some brothers in the same SHOE will be hanging around the exam hall, throwing papers, answers or solved questions to their younger ones in the hall. Then waec can decide to seize the all the result from that centre. Those days of machinery, impersonation. You queue for days in their office under the sun to obtain the form. You also queue for days in their office to check your result MONTHS later from that big spread sheet. Filling the form nko? It takes days, those vertical & horizontal lines that must cross your face. One section must be black pen, another blue pen, pencil and red pen. Make a mistake and obtain another form JAMB NKo ![]() These guys are lucky.......

Thousands of old transport vehicles that do not meet minimum emissions standards form gigantic mounds.
|
By 2020, it is estimated that 16 million vehicles will be ready for the scrap heap. China’s booming car industry means some 154 million cars are now on the country’s congested roads.

China has been cracking down on high-emission transport in an effort to reduce the overwhelming smog in cities, resulting in a vast number of scrapyards and recycling sites containing thousands of abandoned buses, cars and trucks. Gigantic mounds of transport vehicles that do not meet the minimum emissions standards have formed at landfill sites. Millions of cars, motorbikes and lorries are being left on the scrap heap in China every year in a bid by the government to cut pollution levels. In one scrap yard in the city of Hangzhou, an incredible 100,000 vehicles have piled up after being taken off the road because they did not meet the national emissions standard. These amazing photographs on People's Daily Online show the sheer scale of China’s car graveyards. From above, the eclectic collection of cars and trucks could almost be mistaken for the pieces of someone’s giant toy set. Five and a half million cars will be scrapped this year because they are high emission vehicles, contributing £10.8bn to the recycling industry. A massive 17 million were sold in 2014 alone, making up a quarter of global sales. In an attempt to slow down car sales, Chinese authorities have cut the number of new vehicles that can be registered on the roads. Last year the number of new registration plates available in Beijing fell from 240,000 to just 150,000. It has been said that by 2017, only 90,000 plates will be issued for ordinary cars and the rest to eco-friendly cars. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/peoplesdaily/article-3020049/China-s-car-graveyard-Stunning-aerial-pictures-hundreds-thousands-vehicles-thrown-scrap-heap-government-aggressively-aims-cut-emissions.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3127980/Shocking-photos-reveal-vast-graveyards-vehicles-Chinese-government-deem-toxic-roads.html

Among the array of Astons, Bentleys, Lamborghinis and Rollers is one vehicle that stands out a blacked-out Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Slide the panel door back and it reveals a lad's pad decked out with no expenses spared. It's very popular among footballers and musicians who have requested a vehicle that can transport more than four people at a time. Many want them for band tours or away matches when a player is injured but follows the team with his entourage. There's certainly enough tech to keep your mates entertained. It has two 42-inch plasma TVs with Freeview channels, Apple Play, a coffee maker and champagne cooler, heated and massage seats, WIFI, Playstation and an ear-drum-pounding sound system. At £1,000 a day, it's not cheap. But some have hired it for three weeks, racking up a £21,000 bill. If someone wants a Roller waiting at Heathrow Airport at 4am, VIP Services will make it happen. If a Sheikh lands in the country and gives us 45 minutes notice to get a car to the airport, we can be there. Even if a client needs a car in Paris or Monaco the next day we can make that happen, as long as they give us enough time to deliver it to them.

In the summer months, when there's a wave of affluent internationals descending on the capital, the 'Luxury Hire' department booms, with clients looking to get behind the wheel of Ferrari and Aston Martin sports cars to tour Knightsbridge and other London hotspots. How much does it cost? It depends on the model. You could get the keys to a Bentley GTC V8 S for £650 a day or book a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder for £1,000. These vehicles have a strict nine month or 9,000-mile limit. Once they surpass either of these, they're absorbed back into the dealer network of the management to be sold and replaced with something new.

From the outside, this looks like any ordinary warehouse in West London. But lurking behind the metal shutters is a feast of the latest supercars and luxury vehicles, all of which are on 24-hour standby to be whisked to the wealthiest of clients at the drop of a hat. It's the undercover hub of luxury car franchise, which allows those with deep pockets to rent anything from a 600bhp Lamborghini to a swanky Rolls-Royce for a day, week or even months at a time. You can even choose the chauffeur that comes with it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/cars/article-4661286/Inside-London-s-Batcave-luxury-hire-cars.html

In addition, up to four passengers travelling together are also able to transform their seats to form a private area, so families, friends or colleagues can dine, socialise and work in a group.

Qatar Airways has launched the first-ever double bed within business class. The Qsuite allows passengers to recline two middle seats into a fully flat bed and features partition panels to create a private bedroom with two entertainment screens inside. This new initiative marks a world-first for the industry and looks to set a precedent for rival carriers. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-4901664/Qatar-Airways-launches-double-beds-business-class.html

A monument to Mikhail Kalashnikov, the designer of the prolific assault rifle that bears his name, has been unveiled in Moscow. Kalashnikov died in 2013 aged 94 in the city of Izhevsk where he lived. He was the creator of the AK-47 assault rifle, the world’s most popular firearm. An estimated 100 million guns are spread worldwide. Kalashnikov came up with the idea of inventing a new automatic rifle that could work in all conditions after becoming disgruntled by the Soviet weaponry as he recovered from an injury during WWII. Eventually that led to the creation of the AK-47 short in Russian for Avtomat Kalashnikova 1947 (Kalashnikov Automatic Rifle 1947). Known for its simplicity, the gun became a symbol for independence struggles and leftist radicals around the world during the Cold War. Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky said at the monument’s opening on Tuesday that the Kalashnikov rifle has become “Russia’s cultural brand”. The monument in Moscow shows Kalashnikov cradling his rifle. Kalashnikov was born into a peasant family in Siberia, began brooding about a new rifle design after being wounded in a 1941 battle against Nazi forces, and finished it in 1947. Six months before his death at age 94, he wrote to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, expressing regret for his role in making the world's most commonly used rifle. The inventor wrote the tortured letter to the head of the church. Kalashnikov insisted his “spiritual pain is unbearable.” “I keep having the same unsolved question: If my rifle claimed people’s lives, then can it be that I…a Christian and an Orthodox believer, was to blame for their deaths?” It’s the politicians who are to blame for failing to come to an agreement and resorting to violence.” http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/article-4898868/Moscow-statue-unveiled-honour-gun-designer-Mikhail-Kalashnikov.html https://www.yahoo.com/news/russia-unveils-statue-ak-47-inventor-kalashnikov-112630962.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C2525444519
