The race to build the world’s most spectacular skyscraper has reached new heights and taken a turn in direction. Designs for ‘The Big Bend’, a slender tower that would transform Manhattan’s skyline, have been unveiled. Described as the ‘longest building in the world’, the project's concept drawings reveal a skyscraper reaching an apex then curving back down. And featuring an elevator system that can travel in curves, horizontally and in loops. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-4339282/The-incredible-U-shaped-New-York-skyscraper-unveiled.html lalasticlala, Mynd44

This deadly snake was so thirsty during a drought that it broke into an Indian village in a frantic search for water. One man can be seen pouring a bottle of water over the snake's head as it greedily laps the liquid. The man, knowing that the situation could turn nasty at any second, holds a snake catcher so he can grab the serpent in case things kicks off. He is assisted by his friend who holds the cobra's tail to prevent it launchinga vicious attack. The 12ft cobra was rescued from a village in Kaiga township. Some parts of southern India have been hit by drought, making water scarce.

The bamboo cages, pictured, are arranged under a Taru Menyan tree, a special species which emits a pleasant scent that is said to neutralise the smell of rotting. The bamboo cages protect the dead bodies from animals. When all the cages are full of bodies, the one which has been there longest is removed to make room for the next, and placed on a pile. Pictured(right) the Taru Menyan tree.

Once all the flesh has disintegrated under the smothering Indonesian heat, the skull is removed from the rest of the skeleton and placed on a stone altar underneath a tree, where it becomes another building block of the shrine, pictured.

It's the only region in Bali where this ceremony takes place, and only those who were married, such as this woman was when she died, are entitled to the honour. The bodies of the unwed are simply buried instead.
|
Only men are permitted to go there and deliver the bodies after the preparation ritual which involves cleaning the corpse with rain water and wrapping it in cloth, leaving the head uncovered. It is believed that if women venture to the cemetery, the village will be struck by an earthquake or volcanic eruption. Trunyan Cemetery, pictured, where the bamboo cages sit, is close to the village but accessible only by boat across Lake Batur.

In Trunyan, an ancient village in Bali, Indonesia, deceased bodies are not buried or burned, but left to rot under a tree. Deep in the wilds of Bali, at the foot of a volcano, exists a community with a curious ancient death ritual. When someone dies in Trunyan, a mountain village on the eastern shore of Lake Batur, their body isn't buried or cremated, it's placed in a bamboo cage alongside a row of ten others and left to decompose. Once all the flesh has disintegrated under the smothering Indonesian heat, the skull is removed from the rest of the skeleton and placed on a stone altar underneath a sacred tree, where it becomes another building block of the shrine. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-4357226/Trunyan-Balinese-village-bodies-rot-cages.html Lalasticlala, mynd44

Becoming a fat man is the dream of young members of the tribe, and huge respect is afforded to the winner each year. It is not unusual for competitors to lose their balance because of the amount of weight they put on to compete.
|
The winner of the competition each year gets the kudos of tribal respect, having spent six months putting on weight by drinking milk and cow's blood.
|
For six months one unmarried man from each family is confined to a hut, drinking milk and cow's blood, in a competition to see who can gain the most weight. For half a year members of the Bodi tribe will drink nothing but fresh milk and blood from cows in order to pile on the pounds.

Neighbour Satriawan who knew Akbar - said: 'He was found in the location of the garden. 'Initially Akbar set out from his home to go to harvest palm. After not returning to his home, people looked for him. Village secretary Salubiro Junaidi said: 'People had heard cries from the palm grove the night before Akbar was found in the snake's stomach. Locals gathered round as one man used an 18-inch long hunting knife to slice open the serpent and found Akbar inside still intact. Reticulated pythons are boa constrictors that suffocate their victims before swallowing them whole.

This is the sickening moment a dead man was cut out of a seven-metre long python's stomach after being swallowed whole. Akbar Salubiro, 25, went missing on Sunday night after setting off to harvest palm oil in a remote village on the island of west Sulawesi, Indonesia. Concerned friends and relatives found a giant python sprawled out in Akbar's own back garden the next evening - and feared he had been suffocated and swallowed. Akbar's lifeless body was found inside the serpent after horrified locals sliced open its belly using a 18-inch long hunting knife. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4356866/Villagers-man-swallowed-inside-giant-python.html

My favourite scenes, see how that Doctor in Boston attended to Anna. So playful, so loving, even sick kids in the hospital were laughing. See how the rescue team responded to save Anna after falling into the tree. Some countries really have a long way to go.

So powerful, so touching, added to my favourite list.

The group stops at the spot where the creature disappeared and try to follow it through the long grass until they reach a dead end. Since being released on March 22, the video has been watched more than two million times. Social media users in Indonesia have speculated as to what or who the creature could be. One user commented on the video, calling it 'rookery', while another suggested that it was a man who had taken off his clothes to have a bath in the river. Another YouTube user said he thought the creature looked like Smeagol, or Gollum, a character in the Lord of the Rings.

A group of bikers in Indonesia were left stumped when they came acrossa mysterious figure running down a dirt track and into a bush. The human-like creature was spotted in Banda Aceh, on the northern tip of the island of Sumatra. The group were travelling down a track on motorbikes when the naked creature appeared out of a bank of trees and carried a large stick. When the man appears, one of the bikers falls onto the ground in surprise as the mystery figure runs away from the group. After looking around the rest of the group, the biker fitted with the camera continues down the track in pursuit of the creature. The motorcyclist turns a corner at a junction in the track and catches the humanoid figure jumping into the bushes out of sight. They stop at the spot where the creature disappeared and look into the bushes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4354130/Mystery-small-human-like-creature-spotted-Indonesia.html

magabounce:I think it's because of the cost, that's what we can afford. Some of the most advanced fighter jets are the F-15, F-16, F-18, and they cost about $27m - $30m per unit. Not to talk of new generation Fighters like F-22 raptor /F-35 that goes for like $100m - $150m per unit.
