You have to be careful. This is your destiny and nobody can advise you better than yourself.

Are you passionate about Biochemistry or you just want a discipline that can guarantee you a job?

Why did you study Biochemistry? What is your class of degree?

There are many opportunities for a Biochemistry graduate. However, nepotism in Nigeria MUST affect your chances:

If you graduated with at least a 2:1 and you are 25 years or below then you can easily secure a job in the following organizations if you are good enough to pass Aptitude test & interview:

i. Audit firms: KPMG, ERNST & YOUNG, DELLOITE, PWC
ii. Banks
iii. Food Industries: Nigerian Breweries (M.SC required), Nestle, International Breweries, Coca Cola, Guiness Nigeria
iv. Pharmaceutical Industries as Sales Rep

Alternatively, if you are connected and know a big man in government:
i. Research Institutes (We have more than 30 in Nigeria & Biochemists are well positioned. You start as Research Officer II and grow and become a director)
ii. Monotechnic/Polytechnics as lecturer
iii. Federal Universities as lecturer (M.SC, PhD required)
iv. Government Agencies: DPR (as environmentalist), NSE (Graduate Trainee), NARICT, NILEST, NABDA, NAFDAC etc as Research officers
v. Teacher (PGDE required)

In Nigeria today, no discipline guarantees you a job, Medicine inclusive.

A yoruba graduate may secure a better paying job than a doctor.

I am a passionate Biochemist (B.SC, M.SC). Secured a job 8 months after my M.SC and today, I earn more than a professor of Medicine. Even a Matron cannot come close.

If you are a fresh graduate, it is time to ponder and tell yourself the truth.

You need to be patient, prayerful, diligent, and determined to succeed.

No profession be it Engineering, Nursing, Medicine will guarantee you success.
Sir I'd love to have a word with you, can I drop my WhatsApp number?

Let her study Nursing.

I have a BSc in Applied Biochemistry from Unizik but when I got to South Africa , I enrolled to study Pharmacy though I couldn't/HAVEN'T finish/ed.

Nursing is very lucrative. And she will be do well. Whoever studied Biochemistry can overcome any educational huddle.
I really want to have more insight on your view against or for biochemistry's path

Why do see-through and white phone cases/condoms turn dirty-looking yellow-ish color over time.
It's as a result of oxidation

EducationRe: ASUU Vs Students Debate 2022 On Nairaland by exynos(m): 12:30pm On May 16, 2022
The demerits are quite much.

ASUU gets paid after all the struggle.

Considering the students now, how would the wasted accumulated years garnered by this incessant strike actions be paid for? Rather, age restrictions have been imposed on almost all reliable jobs, what about NYSC?

For 20 years, ASUU have been chanting solidarity songs with little or nothing to show for. In a sane clime, the so called academics should have found an alternative to this habitual perennial strike.

ASUU is fighting for an excellent course, but yet the monopolistic nature of ASUU as a union had long been diluted.

Any idea what they'd cut?
I think there wouldn't be any cutoff mark as clearly rolled-out by them, selections will be made based on some analyses embarked upon by the already supplied information in the course of the registration.

I consistently maintained an average 28/30 in the practice tests, something is definitely not right.

My guy, I guess you'd just have to take it that way...how they grade that thing, only God knows, lol. Something that does not have a Cut-off point, or is not even standardized, one cannot expect less.
Let's see how the list is going to be like. Until then, Que Sera Sera.

How was your exam OyinKris?

I also wrote and scored 40% this time grin grin

I've scored 93% before and shi-shi I nor see.

This is my 4th time writing.

There's one thing, there are no guaranteed Cut-off marks, so it's not an issue of you beating the Cut-off point or not.
It appears something is not adding up properly.

I was outrageous to see 57% after being so confident in the questions i encountered.

EducationRe: 200 Hundred Nigerian Billionaires To Donate 1 Billion Each To ASUU by exynos(m): 8:08am On May 11, 2022
sreamsense:
Will they continue to donate 1 billion each on regular basis because ASSU demand is continuous and not once. It is because federal government never enforced no work no pay policy and ensure it is not reversible by oncoming government; that is why ASSU is riding on government like that.

With little government is giving them, they never justify it. They are selfish and only hide under canopy of they are fighting for students while truely, they are only fighting for their own pockets. Many of them can not even teach students to understand, tangible research that will attract support from organizations, they can't do. Many of them have never worked in the industry for one day, no practical experience and they want to train students to go to industries they themselves have never worked before.

This is major reason they are producing and graduating unemployable and unskillful students whom some of them get frustrated after joblessness to become useful tools in the hand of kidnappers, arm robbery, ritualism and yahoo-yahoo to raise money illegally to give hope to their frustrated lifes. Many of the graduates who are shouting no job are not even capable when the job is ready for them.

Methods of recruiting lecturers must be reviewed with emphasis on industrial working experience s and not just PhD and numbers of local/international journals written, lecturers that can not teach dullest students to understand in the class should not be employed for teaching but should be tested if he/she can fit in research. No need to retain professor that can not transfer knowledge to younger generation via simple teaching irrespective of his knowledge. If he/she can not also fit in research, he/she should be laid off; such professor should approach other areas of life to explore jobs or areas he can fit in.

Government should stop wasting money on unproductive lecturers and professors without result to show off. If they are just after money, they should go to politics where they think money is. Many professors and lecturers are also in politics, they can't be holding government at random without anything to show for it. What is the advantage of professor or lecturers of computer science who can not write and run simple program to solve quadratic equation in class without turning it to assignment or carry notes? Is that the way to build future Bill-gate and other IT generals?

Real-life entrepreneurs should be invited to teach entrepreneurial courses in our tertiary institution instead of allowing ASSU lecturers who can not even manage ordinary kiosks or survive without salary. If lots of students that are graduating are skillful and employable, it will contribute its own quota to crime reduction among youths; many of them will no longer depend on yahoo-yahoo, ritualism and kidnapping to escape poverty. Nigeria will be great again!

And this so called minister could afford a hundred million naira for presidential primary form.

I think it’s time we should start owing the elective and appointed politicians theirs salaries and emoluments so that they too will feel the pains.

This guyman minister is promising to be a failure if elected as a president.
And what is the problem if he decides to buy the form, will it halt the strike in any way? Will he single-handedly carry money from his pocket and settle ASUU?

But he is not looking fit going by the picture above. People are really going through one form of terminal illness or the other and still trying to grind out a living in Nigeria.
He was very healthy sir.

He was not loved in the office.

I am saying this because I know him.

Please, I have an advice to everyone; Always stay hidden in plain sight.
