all4naija: Providing original source links would do us all good. Neutrality you are bringing in should be the right source being the UN with link from their website. If I were you, I would zero my mind...digest the article. Then if I feel it is fallacious, I would post a link from another external International group to back my facts. I want to believe you are a scholar..if so, then act as one otherwise you cannot subdue truth for so long...Have you not heard that there is nothing hidden under the sun? |
Fellow Nairalanders - including lovers and haters of truth, in this 21st century I think it is better to sit down and analyse what outsiders think of us and the reasons behind the civil war. Since major ethnic groups in Nigeria are all involved, there are tendencies for people to biased in their judgement. I can also understand why people go against their conscience to support evil and try to distort history. Majority of Nigerians - especially the past Nigerian leadership are haters of truth. Now can we cool our tempo to digest what a fact finding group by the UN have to say about the cause of the civil war and now relate it with Prof Achebe's statement on this particular issue....Please enjoy the link below...cubbed from www.igbofriendsofisrael.com http://www./1968_Biafra%20_Report_By_American_Jewish_Congress.htm |
EzeCanada: FYI Nairalanders, 43% of NASA scientists are Iranians. I hope that leaves you guys some food for thought |

I weep for Nigerian Youths and in fact the Nigerian leadership. You can judge the level of their intelligence from the nonsense they spew out on Nairaland. Majority of Nigerian Youths are unable to differentiate between indigenous people in Nigeria and their culture not to talk of sovereign Nations outside Nigeria. In spite of the proliferation of the Internet. I wonder what has happened to RESEARCH. In this time and era, an average Nigerian would still refer an Igala from Kogi State or a Tiv from Benue State as an Hausa. They still confuse Ibillo people in Edo state as Benin or Igbo or whatever suits them. They still refer an Ibibio man as Igbo...etc Now they refer Persians as Arabs and compare Iran to Nigeria in terms of technological advancement. I posted a topic a year ago where I highlighted scientific and technological progress made so far by Iran and why I think the US is wary of them..and I still remember the level of contribution from Nigerian Youths until I started posting facts. See below link https://www.nairaland.com/821849/why-us-afraid-iran Now lets get this straight, I am not a supporter of Iran. In fact, I am pro Israel..but the fact remains that such information would be of huge benefit to everyone. |
chino11: For those of you questioned my pathernity, am an Anambran precisely frm Uga. Am not an agent of distabilization but a realist and an enemy of iniquity and man inhumanity to man. I'v taken it upon myslf to champion the of opening eyes of Anambrans on the ongoing cold war in our midst. For that singular we are not going do 'nwanne' wit our God's Given resourses as others didnt treat us wit the same kindnes. This and many has driven the policy of the Awka headquatered Orient Petroleum Refinery to absorb 100% Anambra people, the same goes for world giant Sabmiller plant in Onitsha excpt 4 the expatriate personel. I rest my caseUmure Nne m bu Uga...Biko kwusi zia edemede gi a o? |
dazey: chino or whatever you call yourself keep on creating many id i am very sure you are from Yoruba@dazey You are really on point, This guy is not onye Igbo...We need to fish all them Igbo haters out. So brilliant of you. |
deshclones: Daalu maka otu I siiri kowara m..gbaghara m....iwe m di oku dat time..am from anambra too njikoka precisely..nwanne m ka ibu..One love nwanne. Udo diri gi |
deshclones: Fccck u man..you and your fccking ezeship..you are very biased..why didn't u reprimand d grand efulefu orji dat started this onslaught against fellow igbos..plz don't lemme start wit u dis morning..just park one side.Nwannem Nwoke, two wrongs cannot make one right... Orji quite committed a taboo against his fellow kinsmen. Am not surprised by his actions as whoever the god wants to kill he first makes mad. His colleagues in the South East Governors Forum were all bitter and berated his action but did no reciprocate. I see this as a mature and brotherly thing to do. Moreover, this ideology and action of T. Orji is a personal one and has nothing to do with the good people of Abia state. So why reciprocate or fight nature’s battle... FYI I am from Aguata, how does that translate to being biased? |
chino11: You got it bro, you got me correctly.Igbo nile ekenem’ unu. No one is immune to mistakes because no one is perfect. Chino committed a severe blunder but from his last post above he seem to have realized his mistakes and kindda soft peddled. I guess he still needs to do some sort of "damage control" though. This can be done by openly tendering an apology to the entire Ndi-Igbo on this forum. Meanwhile, I am not entirely sure Chino is from Anambra. The name Chino is an abbreviation of Chinonso and Anambrarians normally would abbreviate the name to Nonso….but not that it matters. As for RUNS.TOEFL.GRE, Onye_okwu and Deshclones shame on you guys for openly trying to cause dis-unity and dis-integration amongst the Igbo race. What if Chino is an anonymous disguising as someone from Anambra state? Ndi Igbo are known worldwide for their uncommon wisdom and you guys have not displayed same here. That’s some food for thought for you guys. |
In that case what answer do you have for delegates (Southern and Northern)who elected GEJ as against Atiku. The political landscape has changed |
afam4eva: It's not as if southern leaders are incompetent or afraid of their northern counterpart, it's just that history has put the northern leader at an edge, so politicians from the south have to be very carefull.Does not seem so because the political equation has changed - in fact since 1999 leadership has been in the hands of the Southerners |

I am at loss as to why Northern leaders past and present- Governors, Senators, parliamentarians, ex-service men, ACF etc are always on point with their agenda (mostly selfish, inhumane and ill-conceived) whereas their Southern counterpart are always intimidated, or perhaps feel threatened or dementia-ted. Let's simply put it, Southern leaders are cowards or incompetent or both. My Point is .... When S'East attempted to secede from the Federation, it was the North and their leadership that lead the opposition The entire South have always agitated for a Confab, The Northern leaders have historically sabotaged it. When S'South Speakers were seeking for 50 per cent of derivation funds, it was the Northern leadership again who opposed and killed the bill When Southern leaders where agitating for resource control. Their Northern counterpart stood against it and in fact called for reduction in derivation funds with a threat break -up When the mantle of leadership fell on a S’Southerner (Goodluck Jonathan), it was the Northern leadership who swore to dismantle governance, hence the re-emergence of Boko Haram. In February, when Boko Haram commanded the Igbo’s to leave the North, The Northern leadership boldly and openly backed it. Fulani herdsmen have this pattern of killing and sexually harassing their Middle-belt and Southern host and habitually destroying their farmland – the most recent being the villages in Plateau state. Guess what the Northern leaders did? ….Simply back them. Today, the same Northern leaders have raised and supported a bill to back grazing land for their northern Fulani herdsmen in spite of all the killings and farmland destroyed. They did not blink neither did they tender any apology or plan to do so in the future. Yet its Southern counterpart's have no well thought response or solution to this. This is painfully appealing and disturbing. I don’t know if am the only person observing all these. |
If this does not get front page we are going to enforce a boycott. Period |
^^^^^You mean to have them deported?? that kinda make sense. |
I trust Britain. I am sure they wont disappoint. They will surely lead by example by remitting the accumulated mandatory 5% PFS tax since inception to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). I dey laugh like OBJ....Colonial master don chop their subject Mugu...lol...wonders shall never end |
It was the Britons who institutionalized the taxing system world over. You dare not evade tax in Britain. In countries such as the US and Canada it’s considered a crime against the State carrying the full weight of the law. Let’s see how the British Government who always comes to their rescue handles this one. This action by British Airways is the highest height of double standard, hypocrisy and injustice...lets watch and see how things unfold. |
British Airways has admitted to tax evasion in Nigeria, marking a turning point in a face-off between Nigeria and the foreign airline which began weeks ago over discriminatory fare charges on the lucrative London-Lagos route. Appearing before the Senate Committee on Aviation that organised an investigative public hearing on the violation of aviation laws by foreign airlines, BA Country Manager Kola Olayinka said: “It is not only BA. No airline, as we speak, is remitting the five per cent charged on airfares to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).” The airline admitted it had failed to remit the five per cent Passenger Fuel Surcharge (PFS) on tickets to NCAA as required by global aviation practices. Although the British carrier tried to assure the committee of its preparedness to begin paying the tax, provided the legal requirements were clearly spelt out, the committee threatened to recommend BA for prosecution. The general manager of Air France-KLM Nigeria, Mr Christian Herpi, had told the same committee that payment of PFS had been a practice by airlines worldwide and was not peculiar to airlines flying from Nigeria. Mr Uzodinma said: “Refusal to remit taxes is not a civil matter, it is a criminal offence which should be investigated by the appropriate department and we may have to do so.” “That others are not paying doesn’t make it right. The problem is that the NCAA continues to treat this matter as civil.” The tax evasion charge is the latest in air commerce war between Nigeria and Britain. Last month Nigeria’s Aviation Minister Stella Oduah issued a 30-day ultimatum to BA and Virgin Atlantic to review downwards their air fares on Lagos-London route or face a ban http://www.africareview.com/News/British+Airways+admits+tax+evasion+in+Nigeria/-/979180/1391290/-/3itcrgz/-/index.html |
