Politics / Re: Why Do Most Nigerians Shout When They Speak? by Ezekiel04: 9:57am On May 30, 2011
We are always quick to condemn ourselves as Nigerians. Each nationalities has a trait to distinguish them from the other. No doubt, people from the west are known not to talk loud when they speak. Sometimes, you need to listen with rapt attention to hear whatever they have to tell you. That cannot be said about Nigerians except those who have travelled to the western world and have imbibed the habbit of speaking in low voice. Even when you talk about those western countries, someone should come out and tell me Americans don't shout when they speak. If you ask me, they make the most noise. I work and live with them and i know what i'm talking about. An average Nigerian don't talk in low voice except when we get to where we have to adjust to what is acceptable. Aggresiveness and loud talking is not peculiar to only Nigerians but all Africans. I need someone to tell me prove me wrong please.
Romance / Re: Caught My Fiance Cheating: Kai, What Should I Do? by Ezekiel04: 10:19am On May 08, 2011
The simple fact is that the next guy you'll date will not by any means different from this guy. There is no saint here on earth. Many of those who have asked you here to call off the relationship may even be worst than your guy in their own respective relationships. 90% of men are the same all over the world and i need someone to prove me wrong. While not justifying infidelty, it has however become part of men time immemorial. If you know you have not invested so much into the relationship and could afford to take a walk out of the relationship, i wish you all the very best. But i can assure you, that brother in your church or mosques that's behaving like he's second Jesus or Mohammed is not different from your cheating guy.
Politics / Re: Alaafin Of Oyo To Ooni Of Ife: Mind Your Own Business by Ezekiel04: 5:52pm On May 07, 2011
As a prince, i respect both traditional rulers but i think it is wrong for Ooni to have said what he was said to have said. I think he needs to mind his business. For the period of war between Ife and Modakeke, Alafin never intrude or pokenose into the issue. Let Ooni respect himself and mind his business.
Romance / Re: Can You Date A Nigerian Policeman/woman? by Ezekiel04: 1:44pm On Apr 24, 2011
@textmypage or whatever you call yourself. That is very rude of you. Why don't you express your opinion and allow others to express their's. Must you resort to hate and rudeness? I will not join issues with you. By their fruit, we shall know them. Thanks for the insult all the same.
Romance / Re: Can You Date A Nigerian Policeman/woman? by Ezekiel04: 10:20am On Apr 24, 2011
Why not? Let forget all the jargon people say about the police. Police is a job and it doesn't have anything to do with those personalities doing the job. In every organization, there are both good and bad people (police inclusive). If i happen to be in love with a female police officer, I'll go for her. I have actually dated one and come to think of it, she is everything you'll want in a woman. I had the opportunity to relate with her friends and colleagues and it actually changed my perception about the police. Outside the job, they're the most friendly and straight forward people you can ever find. What we fail to realize is the fact that whatever bad people might attach to the police is really no fault of theirs. Yes, they take bribe, blame it on the govt that pays a police officer =N=25,000 as take home in Nigeria of today. Yes, few of them misuse their guns, blame the kind of training they give to them. They're not perceive to be friendly;do the government make them happy for them to be happy with those they're to protect too? Whether you can date them or not is really a matter of choice. I will marry one as long as she satisfy who i want as a wife irrespective of her job. End of discussion!
Travel / Re: My Biggest Challenge As A Nigerian Living Abroad by Ezekiel04: 9:27am On Apr 24, 2011
What a very nice topic here. To the author of this topic, let me assure you that you're not the only one experiencing this. 99.9% of those of us abroad experience this on a daily basis. It is so bad that even when i don't have a car of my own in Nigeria, a friend ask me to support him with =N=300,000 to buy a tokunbo car. Another one demanded for a laptop while there are countless of those who requested for money of different sum. The fact is this, many of this dudes asking us for money are even better of at home than we are. For you to know this, you have to go home on vacation and you'll be surprise that while you're still struggling to make ends meet, most of these guys are nearly completing their building project. The belief is that you pick money on street abroad and they're justified to make demands on you. I tell most of them that care to listen that they should do away with the misconception that those abroad are living a life of affluent and consequently they should live their lives like father Xmas. What i do is to do the little i can do when the request seems to be a genuine one and to ignore request when i perceive it to be frivolous. To make things worst, those who are even your family members don't belief you when you tell them the real situation. All they let you realize is how chubby your cheeks are, different from how it was before you left Nigeria. To those who doesn't know how to say no to those friends and relatives, don't be surprise that those same people will make jest of you when you return home with nothing to show for your years abroad. Get wise and plan for your life. Let them abuse and call you names today. They will be the same people who will praise you when you complete that building project of yours.
Politics / Re: Jonathan, Buhari Woo Tinubu ! by Ezekiel04: 11:51am On Apr 13, 2011
Wow!!!!!!
What a good time for the southwest!
So, it pays to be rascals?
I thought Jonathan said the governance of SW should not be left in the hands of rascals?
Why is he now courting SW?
I trust Tinubu to be an intelligent man too. We have leanrt a lesson from what ebora owu did to us then which destroyed Alliance for Democracy. Tinubu warned them but they did not listen. History is about repeating itself again and i hope we won't allow it this time around. Jonathan is nothing but a stooge in the hands of Obasanjo who does not in anyway mean well for the Yoruba race in particualr and Nigeria in general. A man who could not construct the road leading to his homeland.
Please people should vote out PDP and not allow another 4 years of clueless leadership. Buhari and Bakare is far more desirable than Jonathan/Sambo. SouthWest should wise up now or never.
Travel / Re: How Nigerians Are Deceived With Fake Job Offers In Qatar (from Babaearly) by Ezekiel04: 11:37am On Mar 24, 2011
Also, your passport would have been confisticated from you and there is possibility that you'll not set eyes on it for the next two or three years which is the mandatory period you're expected to be on the job they brought you to do before you can dream of quitting your present job for another one. That is if you're lucky to secure another one. Also, if you secure another one, you're not to shout halleluyah or halihamudulilai yet, you'll still be expected to pay for your freedom. This is between a range of an equivalent of =N=100,000.00 and =N=200,000.000 depending on your employer and his relationship with God. Some are heartless and would rather work for your deportation than allow you go without paying such unholy fee. You should note that for that three years, you practically cannot have any savings in your bank account most especially if you're a responsible one who care about the immediate family you left at home. You will realize that whatever amount of salary you were told before you left the shore of Nigeria is nothing with the economic realities in the Arab countries. So many nights you'll cry silently and wonder what pushed you out of Nigeria in the first place. You will reralize that Nigeria is a better country if not for the useless and irresponsible looters we have had to contend with all these years. All you enjoy here is constant power supply and good road network. Many would ask why someone like me haven't return home. That's a brilliant question. Many of us found favour from God while many won't be able to cope with the shame that comes with returning home without achieving anything. My advice to anyone with the hope of working abroad is for him/her to shine his/her eyes. The grass is not greener on the other side like we always believe while in Nigeria. Nigeria is so blessed but cursed with bad leadership who makes it look as if we have a bad country.
Thank you!

I am sending this reply as an insider who could authoritatively give an insight into how it is to be in any of these Arab countries as an expatriate (Foreign worker). Though i do not reside in Qatar but in Kuwait, but the situation is the same in all the GCC countries and other Arabian countries. I came to Kuwait few years ago with the same promises of better deals when one get here. Though, i was truly fed up of the job i had in Nigeria, i got here and realize i was better off with that job. If you're coming to any of these countries, you'll be promised a decent accomodation, free transportation and in some cases, free meal three times daily. There some other bad side to the bargain that they will never ever let you know even months after you arrive here. You will only get to know about thse facts if you're smart enough to move closer to those that have been here before you and ask questions. Note that whoever your agent is will try as much as possible to isolate you from those you meet around where ever he/she brought you. I was smart enough to free myself and move closer to those i met. It was through them i got to know that there is indeed a hidden visa fee that will be deducted from the peanut of a salary they'll be paying you monthly. This may be deducted for a period of one or one and half years depending on how much it is that they'll pre-determined to charge you. You won't know this until after three months when you're due to receive your three month salary in arrears. At that point, you may have been absent from your duty post in Nigeria for close to 90 days and your employment terminated. Realizing that, you may have no choice than to continue with the situation you finds yourself. Note also that as soon as you arrive here, you'll trully be accomodated in a room where six or more people will occupy. This will never be disclosed to you before hand. Continue below,
