Yo I disagree with that and I can't speak for Nigerians, but the U.S. classifies middle class as people with somewhat societal influence, could be in the local community, city, state or even higher and more often at times, that class particularly is attributed to educated career professionals or otherwise anyone who fits per standards. Please don't tell me if you earning $75,000 a year along with medical benefits, bonus, perks etc that you are struggling. You not rich quite alright, (I did not say wealthy, I said rich), and you're not poor either. However, you're better of connected to the society than someone who's struggling to earn by the hour. There are so many factors that contribute to being a middle class, in fact the IRS, clearly distinguished it when filling for tax returns. You can afford a home, and if you file dual income returns that's $150,000 in my book, that isn't struggling at least for the most part. Struggling is when you have to wait at the bus stop for 45min in the cold winter, then jump the bus to go earn the peanuts. Struggling is when you take on more debt than you can pay for, struggling is when you have to work two jobs, or stress you backside out for overtime at the end of the day, uncle Sam take more of it compared to you regular wage.
Thank you very much for explaining to these buffoons concerning social classes in the United States.

My parents combined income is around $180,000 a year as a couple. So in essence, I am upper middle class aka petty bourgeoisie

But Donald Duke did good things as governor as well. They are targeting the wrong person. Why not go after the former heads of state who stole money, not a former governor like Donald Duke.
Politics › Re: Police Arrests Donald Duke- Must They Arrest Like This? by EzeUche(m): 7:14pm On May 29, 2010
Donald Duke is a good man! Targeting the wrong people.

I have met him personally, and many of my family members know his family. This is injustice in the highest order!  angry

kildran,

Save your passive aggressive responses for someone else. I am not going to tolerate such insubordination from a biased poster. Yes, you are a dunce. You should be happy I did not use such harsher words. The word lacks in its intensity compared to a cuss word, but for a somewhat intelligent poster, the point can be still made.

I do not compare myself to the so called Nigerian "gentry." I am a part of the petty bourgeois social class in both the United States and Nigeria.

However, you are not even discussing the topic, but making it a personal issue. Stick to the facts or move on.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Senators Are Paid Better Than US Presidents by EzeUche(m): 4:27pm On May 29, 2010
kildran,

Ok, let me reiterate this so this can get through your thick head, my response was directed at someone who insulted my intelligence you dunce. How hard is it for you to understand? Are you blind? Did you see the post that were directed to me? Did you have a problem with those responses? Or did your tribal lens zero in on my Igbo identity, so you had to attack me?

Stop the hypocrisy, if you are not going to state that the others I was arguing with were wrong, then you need to shut up, because you have nothing to add, because I will deal with you as well.

I hate posters who make asinine statements. I really do. Sometimes I play around, but when someone wishes to attack my intelligence, then I will show you the true errors of your ways.

@Ezeuche

You are quick to point at the speck in another's eye, whilst a log covers your. May I humbly point put it to you that people don't create sentences they make them.
What are you studying? What education do you have? Where have you worked? Mr. Eze please show decorum by keeping quiet. You will be stunned by what some of us on this forum have done.
You must be a Yoruba as well, because you skipped what was said to me and zero in on my comment which was a response to an attack on my intelligence. Hush up if you have nothing else to provide on this thread. I was simply responding to someones attack on me.

Politics › Re: Nigeria Is Not A Failing State by EzeUche(m): 3:40pm On May 29, 2010
Nigeria is already a failed state. Not in the sense of like a country like the DRC or Somalia but we lack basic infrastructure, the gov't cannot protect the lives of its citizens. This all qualifies as a failed state.

lol are you dumb like really all this revenue will be from different investments. and guess what theres an estimated 40billion barrels of crude between Lagos, Ondo, and Ogun. No be big deal. Oil is even nothing to us.
And you foolish if you think that Yorubas will be doing the investing. All your people do is spend money on big fancy parties. It is the Igbo who invest in other people's land unfortunately.

It will be still be the sweet crude light from the Niger Delta that will go to Lagos. Do not be a fool.

Sagamite,

he doesn't worth it. don't waste your time on him, he will never be able to come to your reasoning, I know him.

People like him only need rumors, conjectures and sensational headlines to make their 'brilliant' comments

It will be very difficult for him to understand your request for facts in other to make well informed comments, no matter how you explain it.
When you try to insult someone, please check your grammar. Or better yet, please have Microsoft Word check your grammar, because your grammar is atrocious. grin

It is funny how people like to use their supposed "superior intellect" even though people like you cannot even create a proper sentence in English. The hypocrisy is amazing.

He wants to see facts, I understand that but what more does he need in which the politicians are living a life of luxury while the average Nigerian is dirt poor. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that.
Politics › Re: Father's Land Vs Birth Land by EzeUche(m): 12:18am On May 29, 2010

Where are you getting the revenue for this?

It will still be based on OIL! undecided

You are  a slowpoke.

I deal with facts, not rumours, conjectures, sophisms and mirages. The fooolish education you have is what makes you base decisions on those four things mixed with inane worship of platitudes.
Look at you trying to sound like an intellectual by simply using vocabulary that is above your pay-grade. I have no time for people who make asinine statements and people who use the Thesaurus in order to make themselves sound smart. Let me clap for you since you believe you have a strong grasp for the English language.

My education surpasses your own, but you do not hear me bragging about such non-issues. Now run along and let grown men discuss a topic you know nothing about.

Like I said before, in a civilized society, the people would have done something to these thieving politicians like they did in the French Revolution and the Iranian Revolution. That is the problem with have an uneducated populace. And even some so called "educated" individuals like yourself do not see the writing on the wall. That is quite sad.

Dumbshit, what I am saying is that I want to know what the allowance is for before I make an informed judgement.

That is the quality of my education.
The quality of your education makes you a fool. If the writing is already on the wall, what proof do you need you EWU? Stop being a Doubting Thomas and understand that these thieving politicians are already stealing from the national coffers.

Nothing like a fool who thinks he is educated. A mind is terrible thing to waste.

is that so ? tell that to everyone in the world you goat. let yorubas do their own thing we are in our own region, you do yours how you want, we'll do ours how we like.
We Igbos built up Lagos! You all cannot claim it as long as Eastern oil was used to pay for that crappy city of yours.

Sagamite:
The reality is that I have seen these retarded journalists calculate all forms of allowance and present it to the public as legislator "salary". When some were one off payments that it traditional in parliamentary allowance in most countries or one off payments as part of the monetisation process done by OBJ (i.e. basically money is given instead of a certain physical asset that depreciates e.g. car, house etc).

Now, my suspicion is that these allowance might be the constituency allowance given to legislators for work in their constituency. This type of allowance is not suppose to go into their private pockets (it might be going). So whoever the half-baked, fooolish, cretinous journalist was, (s)he should have given more details of what the allowance is for (e.g. car, house, ashewo, juju allowance etc), not just say "allowance".
Are you actually in support of these thieving politicians?

There is already evidence that they steal from the public coffers. What proof do you need?

People like you should be executed as well. Enemies to progress.
