@ Ezeuche
Nigeria has EVERY right to protect her citizens (The Annaga*, Benins, Itsekiris, Uhrobos, Ijaws etc) who were FORCEFULLY included in Biafra.
Nigeria has a right to protect her teritory. Nigeria MUST not compromise her territory boundary,NO matter the consequences
Nigeria has a right to INVADE the East and call Ojukwu for Treason!
The North had EVERY right to react that way (even though to me, it was over-done. But they wore the shoe, hence, knew where it pinched)
The West had a right to DEFEND (Not attack like Banjo and Ojukwu did BUT defend) her territory. Same with the Mid-west!
NIGERIA INVADED BIAFRA

And that is why Nigeria is crap. Everyone complains when the nation could have been dissolved earlier.

You are an unserious person. Okay, its was okay to arrest Awo and Enahoro for treason and occupy the West but it is not okay to do the same to the East??
Not when thousands of civilians are killed in cold blood, because they are from the East.

How do you come up with this crap?

Comparing events that cannot have any comparison.

How can you compare the imprisonment of Awolowo and Enahoro with pogroms that cause Ojukwu to declare a sovereign nation?

Do you have a brain or has your education failed you?

I have been relatively quiet because I see no point discussing these issues over and over again but Ezeuche's comment is scary
@Ezeuche

Why do you make subjective statements?? Why can't you EVER (For once in your supremacist life) be OBJECTIVE?? undecided sad sad sad
How can you say the civil war was caused by "Nigeria" invading "Nigeria"huh Are you saying Nigeria should not protect her territory from a seceding group?? Or Nigeria should compromise her territory because Ojukwu was unsatisfied with Nigeria despite the fact that other Leaders were killed except Igbo leadershuh
Also, not everyone in the East was a Biafran, some were still Nigerians . . . and carried Nigerian passports. They were FORCEFULLY included in the Biafran territory YET you are saying "Nigeria caused the war??"
shocked shocked
Shocked is an understatement!!!

Your lack of objectivity is appalling to say the least . . .
Biafra was not Nigeria. Ojukwu declared an independent nation because ALL people of the East were being targeted around Nigeria for crimes they did not commit.

The only crime a person of the east committed was that they were from the East. There is no justification in Nigeria invading a sovereign nation.

Article 1 in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)

All peoples have the right of self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.

The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights article 15 states that everyone has the right to a nationality and that no one should be arbitrarily deprived of a nationality or denied the right to change nationality.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Nigeria declared war on a people who were fleeing a blood thirsty pogrom from backward Northerners who cannot even write their names. The same people who created Boko Haram that everyone is now complaining about it.

Let me repeat it for you since you do not understand.

If a nation cannot protect its citizens, then the people who are impacted can form a nation of their own.

so after the killing of the northern and western leaders happen (which i agree it was still peaceful) the igbo traders SHOULD NOT HAVE REJOICE AND GLOAT about them ruling nigeria
That reasoning is so juvenile. But that is expected of Northerners who showed the world how juvenile they can be in South Africa with Kaita's penalty.

So, because traders were laughing supposedly, that means you should kill them? What gives a man the right to kill another man for such juvenile offense? Tell me!  angry

Even when I read that reasoning over again, I can see why Nigeria has not progressed. It is because the Northern mind is just a like child. We can look at Sanusi's statements to see how juvenile a Northerner can be.

Why don't you provide a rebuttal to the facts and analyses that I presented instead of resorting to an unnecessary and emotional outburst. The facts are on this thread; what is your position?

If you are not satisfied, you can conclude that I am a Northern apologist.
Stop with your conjectural BS. Your knowledge of history is slanted Mr. Northern Apologist.

please who should be blamed for the civil war?

answer objectivly and do not insult
Of course Nigeria should be blamed for the Civil War, by invading the Eastern Region. That invasion was an act of war by any accounts. If a nation cannot protect its citizens, then the citizens have a right to declare their own nation.
Politics › Re: The Northern Counter-coup Of 1966: The Full Story Without Bias! by EzeUche(m): 3:26am On Jul 25, 2011
Katsumoto you always try to make the Igbo look like they are the bad guys in this situation. Even though the counter-coup was more brutal than the first coup which targeted people within leadership positions. You give a pass to those who committed heinous acts of brutality with RELIGIOUS undertones to it. Shame on you! Do you support the pogroms that occurred after the counter-coup by you giving a pass to the Northerners?

Your history of events is filled with revisionism. That it places the blame solely on the Ndigbo. With your generalized statements that is nothing but pure BS.

Actually it is relevant. Balewa, Bello, and Awo didn't want Nigeria. Zik was the person that wanted Nigeria at all cost; even voting against including a secession clause being inserted in the constitution in 1957. Zik had strong motive for supporting an Igbo coup on the basis that he lost out in the contraption that he helped to create and foister on others. He lost out in the power play with Balewa. Secondly, after assisting Akintola to oust Awo in the West, Akintola allied with Bello instead of with Zik.
LIES!

Zik had nothing to gain from the first coup. Why must you continue to lie?

@ezeUche stop this nonsense of saying everything started in the west. okay there was crisis in the west and emergency was declared. why the coup? is coup the only way of solving a crisis? those guys did what they did whether to save nigeria or make igbo coup, i dont care. just don't go around with lies that they struck becos of the crisis in the west. nobody's buying it.
All problems could be traced to the crisis in the West. The North's use of Akintola to frustrate Awolowo created a crisis that struck the First Republic in a way that crippled the nation. That is not a lie. As much as you wish to deny that fact, the crisis in the West  began to spread to other regions. There is a reason why the term Wild Wild West came to be known for the former Western region.

Pls shut it. I'll not be judged by a hypocrite. For the record I justified nothing other than point out that an Igbo coup (deny it all you like) was bound to trigger a COUNTER COUP esp when our own political leaders where left unharmed and we as a people wld have responded if same had been done to us. Of course u and your band of supremacists are skilled in the use of sophistry to obscure the truth so naturally that equates to justifying the death of hundreds of thousands in your water filled skulls.
What is wrong with you? It was not an Igbo Coup. And the Igbo people do not massacre others. If we did, we would have no Northerner who lived in our region during the Counter-coup to leave the East alive. You are not in touch with reality. And I doubt you are an Igbo man. No Igbo man would utter such words. You be efulefu.

Most of the countries affected are not land locked. They have access to the sea and therefore have access to water.

So why do they not have irrigation systems in place?

The problem is these 'perpetual' wars they have been fighting. It leaves them with no time to plan and collectively come together to ensure there are no food shortages.

I speculate the wars are linked to the 'arab' presence in those regions.

South Sudan is in the process of escaping this trend and may in the long run become the benchmark country in that region.

Further more whenever they show those starving on TV you always see guns everywhere - they dont have food but they got plenty of AK47's.

These people need to rise up and solve their own problems. Its not beyond them.
Weapons are plentiful in Somalia, but there is no food. I do not understand that. Wouldn't it be cheaper to have food than weapons?

Anambra Plans Export-Free Trade Zone

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra says the state government will soon establish  export free trade zone in Ogbaru Council area, near the River Niger.

Obi disclosed this yesterday in Onitsha at a stakeholders’ meeting on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from Anambra North Senatorial District.

The councils under the district include Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Ogbaru, Oyi, Anambra East, Anambra West and Ayemelum.

“The pursuit of the zone will be achieved to raise the level of commerce in Onitsha,’’ he said.

Obi said that government had given two boats to the naval formation at Ogbaru area and land to build their camp to fortify security in the area.

He said that five new industries were springing up at the industrial harbour in Atani, Ogbaru, while a new road was being built to ease the heavy vehicular traffic.

According to the governor, one of the new industries is the 100 million dollar (N15 billion) brewery project by SAB-Miller South-African Breweries.

Chief Godwin Okeke, Patron of Onitsha Market Traders, assured the government of their co-operation on payment of taxes.

“The government should sensitise the various markets’ unions and associations on their civic duty.We also call on the government to ensure that the money paid will never go into private pockets,’’ he said.

Asaba airport is largely uncompleted and a major financial drain pipe for uduaghas and Iboris. Enugu airport is to the best of my knowledge nothing more than colonial airstrip. Its an insult to the psyche of Ndigbo to call that an international airport, that is if you have visited the airport. I, for one cannot make the typographical error of calling that an international airport
I normally arrive in the East either through Port Harcourt, or go to Lagos and fly to Owerri.
