IyaTola: No one is saying Nigeria lacks good goalkeepers locally. The issue isn’t availability, it’s exposure, consistency, and level of competition.
Yes, Vincent Enyeama is the perfect example—but that actually supports the argument the other way. Enyeama was already playing in France (FC Lorient) when he became Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper and later moved to Lille. His rise to global recognition came because he was tested weekly against high-level attackers, under intense tactical and psychological pressure. That environment sharpened him.
Local league goalkeepers like Ikechukwu Ezenwa absolutely had talent and charisma, and he even got opportunities with the Super Eagles. But when it came to major tournaments, inconsistencies showed. That’s not always about talent—it’s about:
Training infrastructure
Match tempo
Tactical discipline
Mental pressure at elite level
Giving chances to locally scouted goalkeepers is important, but those chances must be earned and sustained, not given as sentiment. The national team is not a development platform; it’s a performance stage.
So the fair position is:
Scout locally ✔️
Encourage local talents to move to stronger leagues ✔️
Select based on readiness for international football, not location ✔️
Enyeama didn’t become Enyeama because he was Nigerian-based. He became Enyeama because he proved himself at a higher competitive level.

IyaTola: That interpretation isn’t entirely accurate. Defenders attacking the ball in the air doesn’t automatically mean they don’t trust the goalkeeper. In many defensive systems, especially against teams that overload the box, defenders are instructed to be aggressive and attack first contact, regardless of who is in goal.
Nwabali’s role in those situations is often to hold his line and protect against second balls, not necessarily to come and claim every cross. That’s a tactical choice, not a lack of confidence. If the keeper steps out and misses, it’s a guaranteed big chance — coaches prefer controlled risk.
Also, aerial dominance isn’t just about claiming crosses. Positioning, timing, communication, and decision-making matter just as much. Nwabali has shown strong shot-stopping, composure under pressure, and consistency, which are critical qualities for a tournament goalkeeper.
As for Okoye, yes, he plays at a higher club level and has good attributes, but club football and international football demand different things. International football often prioritizes reliability and chemistry with the back line over flair or league pedigree.
So while Okoye may be more rounded in some areas, Nwabali’s selection can be justified tactically based on system fit, defensive structure, and the specific demands of the team — not simply trust or lack thereof. This one is busy using AI to reply comments all over the place . Tufiakwa! |

Nonsense talk! What is the difference between these civilian politicians and the military? They both rule the people with impunity and disregard to the rule of law. There is no rule of law in Nigeria. It's all about a show of power and force. Whether it's in winning election, getting justice, or even as basic as living your day to day life, it's about power and show of force. It's a fucking jungle. The only reason why this is making the news is because Wike met a higher power that he couldn't subdue as it's in his custom to do. Now he is squeaking like a jittery duck throwing up terms like "rule of law" that is alien to his nature. Wike and rule of law in the same sentence? Are you kidding me? This is not about any civilian or military nonsense. This is about a despot who met a higher despot! Yeah in a sane clime, which Nigeria is not, what you said will be true. But in Nigeria, in your own words-balderdash! Bluntemperor: Rubbish Talk! So Many Baldadash On Our Social Media, because we think 🤔 Blowing Grammar here is good, But Wike is just being human, For this nonsense, where Army wants To Imposed themselves on the Civilian Must STOP 🛑, For Many are already biased because of election loss or party affliations,so they think, this Same Army in Uniforms will not do so to them ( Civilians), which is abnormal in a Civilian Rule'. It is Karma and just expect same in years to come, again and again. For All Uniform Men and Women, are Subjects to Civilian Rule' under Civilian Dispensations. Learybrain1: Did Jesus criticize any apostle?huh abel Jesus reserved his harshest rebukes for the religious leaders of his time. Guess who he called names such as : “Whitewashed tombs, blind guides, hypocrites”? Go read Matthew 23 where he unleashed lots of woes to the religious leaders. He even rebuked Peter at one time saying : “Get behind me, Satan” So yes, if Jesus was to be living in today’s world, he would be declaring lots of woes to your so called religious leaders who have turned his father’s house to a den of thieves, making merchandise of the gospel. And he would definitely not spare the one threatening to arrest people all over the place. People should read their bible. |

Please, has anyone recently travelled to Egypt from the UK? I want to find out if visa on arrival is applicable to Nigeria passport holders with BRP or one has to process his/her visa via their consulate here in London before travelling?
Kindly assist if you have any information or experience on this. Thanks. |

OfeAchi: I don't get these guys arguments really. So would they be happy if EPL was stripped from City and handed over to them, without doing all the hard work required to win a league? (By hard work, I mean winning the games you are required to win) Unfortunately, yes, they will be happy. That’s the mentality of those who don’t have what it takes to contend with the best, then any means whatsoever to grab it becomes an option. |

quickly: Citys history is relegation and div 2 until UAE bought the club.
Man City is on the level of Burnley and Bournemouth if not for the Sheihk and thats why ppl dont regard them. They could not win title organically like Man United Liverpool Arsenal, EVerton , etc
They bought the foundation that they are benefitting of.
They and Chelsea are the same. Chelsea sef get level past them.
Chelesea was in top 4 race b4 Abramovich but City was a relegation team, they will go up and go down.
UEFA was going to ban them from Champions league for Financial Fraud
So also Premier League and the matter still dey court.
the verdict will be relegation for City I feel your pain. Quite deep. |

I would have to consider the option of paying for a lounge access too. I think it's just the visa thing that disqualifies us from the free accommodation. Thanks for sharing your thought. Lolli2pop: My dear read the terms and conditions properly of the free accommodation … i just booked Turkish airline as well. The accommodation access thingy is a very tricky one loool. I realised most Nigerians wouldn’t actually qualify for it because there are other options on Turkish airline with a shorter transit time.
I stand to be corrected if i am wrong anyways… but I personally planning to go with an alternative plans like paying for a lounge access. Its my first time flying turkish or even transit so my experience is really limited. |

Thanks for your response. I think I might be considering the lounge area option. I appreciate the tips. idee91: You need a VISA to go outside of the airport where the hotel would most likely be. You can as well decide to stay within the airport premises if you like. You can get food every 5 hours, just go to the Turkish airline customer care section to get meal vouchers for any of the restaurants they currently partner with. The last time I travelled I stayed in a lounge area with recliner sleeper chairs which were not too bad. Happy travels 🙂 |
