I remember back then when I come home with my report card taking the first position in class, she will rush me with a hug, throw me up and kiss my forehead saying this word; "Dede, you have made me proud" and then say a word of prayer for me.

She will show my father the result and collect some money from him the next day to make my favorite Coconut Rice and Pork meat, then a bottle of chilled Gold Spot.


Even on my matriculation day, it was as if I was getting married, she brought her friends with two hot cooler of Coconut Rice and Jollof Rice to celebrate with me.

I had to tell her to hold her peace on the day of my graduation knowing that the school environment was not that safe during graduation period.
