omenka: Story for Sango and Amadioha!! Still trying so hard to validate and legitimise the SA fiasco, but Nigerians refuse to be foooooled!!Yes the SA fiasco sounds. fishy, but that still does not change the fact that the west is fuccking us in the as$ . I gave the govt the benefit of doubt. |
Its good that we are learning our lessons. I have always been annoyed by our unprofitable pro-western stance. Looks like bokoharam is helping us to shed that toga. We are finally aligning toward the east as we should have long ago. After the war is won,we must arm ourselves like hell. |
destante: ....while standards and poor says Nigeria risks a downgrade in their impending ratings. Take Lagos out of Nigeria and there isn't much left.Take newyork, london, paris, rome, jourhanesburg out of the US,UK ,france, italy and southafrica respectively and tell me what is left. |
BlackTechnology: We need to do this simultaneously with secret advance weapons development and mass production. So that if we are blockaded, we won't find ourselves strandedI agree. Unfortunately,we dont have the leadership with the political will to follow through with sincereity of purpose. You also need a very smart leader to negotiate and enforce tech transfer. |
BlackTechnology: OpYes we need to start manufacturing our own weapons along the line, which is why i expect Nigeria to enter tech transfer deals with china, russia and pakistan after every major weapons procurement. Right now,we need ready -made weapons to counter current threats and create deterrence. |
EmoBoy: Which war? I hope you're not calling the fight against the Boko Haram a war.A guerilla war is one of the most difficult wars a nation will ever encounter. |
Can anybody tell me why fashola is not yet swimming in the bigger waters of the FG.? Its an injustice and a disgrace that GEJ is president ,when we have fashola around who is probably younger. |
What are the so-called retailers doing there in the first place.? You have a far bigger market and a richer consumer base in Nigeria. It just dosen't make sense. |
As the war hopefully draws to an end,it's important for us as a people to wake from our slumber and learn certain key lessons. (1)We have no friends anywhere.: Events during this trying times have indeed proved that we are on our own. Countries like cameroon, southafrica, and the larger western bloc have preyed on Nigeria's current vulnerabilities to score cheap points, settle old scores, and prop themselves up,and further their sinister agenda at the expense of our national integrity. We must never forget to repay them in their own coin when we are out of the woods. (2)Corruption must die: The major and most importance reason why we are in a mess is because of corruption. Corruption is the greatest threat to our nationhood. The illiteracy and poverty in the north is due to corruption. The impotency of our military is due to corrupt generals embezzling and misappropriating our relatively small defence budget. All lovers and true patriots of Nigeria must be ruthless against corrupt office holders at the polls irregardless of tribal affiliations. (3)We need to recapitalize our military: Some people may not agree with me,but a $6billion defence budget is not going to cut it for Nigeria. We have too much assets, threats(external and internal) to protect and counter. A nation like france can decide to carry out a naval blockade in the gulf of guinea, and our economy is toast. We have no modern fighter jets, when smaller countries like uganda are buying up SU-30s. Egypt and algeria will obliterate us in a war,and there is nobody that can conveniently say we wont cross paths with those countries in the forseable future. Afterall,BH rose out of the blues to become a formidable enemy. We are the continent's largest ecomomy, its needs to reflect in our military. There is nothing stopping us from becoming the greatest military force in the continent and one of the greatest in the world. We need to have atleast a $10b defence budget with 70% going into strategic 21st century armournization of all tiers of the military, especially the airforce and the navy. That way we would be prepared to counter and snuff out any future local or foreign threat. The airforce should have atleast a 100 SU-30S to act as a detterent. The navy should have atleast 3 world class chinese or german submarines and stealth warships with medium range missiles. That way no nation ,first or 3rd world, would attack us without thinking twice. (4) Our intelligence agencies need to be revamped: As it currently stands, our intelligence agencies are a joke. The SSS should get out of politics and focus on its duties. The fact that paul biya is still alive is an indictment on the proactiveness and effectiveness on the DMI in detecting potential threats and snuffing them out. We need to learn to plan ahead for any conceivable threat and prepare against it. That is how it is done in serious countries. |
soulglo: I did not say or even imply that we should forget about decent health care. I said specifically on the Nigerian cases it was not adequate health care that saved them. In fact they were practically left on their own to fight their disease. It was her sheer determination that made her fetch water and flush the toilet, clean herself up, administer her own medication while actually in a hospital sick enough to die. You either did not read the article I was referring to or maybe you just wanted to post something. By the way what does CDC stand for. Find out why the CDC cares not just about disease control but also prevention. That is being proactive. Nigeria was not and that left us vulnerable. That's what I said and the CDC and the WHO would agreeI dont think so. The successful management of ebola is the same anywhere in the world. Without proper health care, chance of survival and containment is slim. And from what i read from a nigerian survivor, the health care delivery improved drastically after the initial bottlenecks were resolved. |
soulglo: I'm happy that people are coming out of it alive. No one happier than me but as the Dr who survived proved they were almost totally on their own. She was even fetching the water to flush the toilet herself while fighting Ebola. She did thus until she was not strong enough to manage on her own. Honestly no system or agency in Nigeria should take too much credit for it. It seems it is simply the sheer determination and knowledge of the patients that has saved them so far. It was not the superb health care they gotLol. This is nonsense. According to WHO and the CDC,the first and most important step to defeating ebola is decent health care with adequate technical expertise. Sheer determination can not save you from ebola. It only helps when other more important conditions have been satisfied. |
Jega is playing with a civil war. |
I remember when my ex-girlfriend told me she was pregnant the day after i got the commonwealth scholarship for my post-graduate programme in the UK. I developed serious headache instantly and began to sweat profusely, before she now said it was a joke. I will never forget that day. |
TonySpike: Nonsense, South Africa and Nigeria don't even use the same driving standards. So, how is it even possible to have chosen Nigeria over South Africa when Nigeria uses left-hand driving rule and South Africa doesn't?They could still have chosen to manufacture the left-handed vehicles in southafrica and export everything to Nigeria as was the practise. Read to understand. Something has changed. |
awhydot: Fashola and his team should be commended. Chukwu stays in Abuja and only makes press statements.Yes,just like fashola was responsible for stopping a potential outbreak in rivers. |
Talibanis: A country that doesn't give a damn about her citizens should expect utmost disrespect in its highest form on her citizens from foreign countries alike. Nigeria pls wake up!There is only so much the govt can do. Not when you have Nigerians perpetrating criminality enmass in foreign countries even as we speak. Until unscrupulous Nigerians in diaspora change, govt cant do much. |
Nigerians blaming govt for their rotten image. Grandiose delusion. |
So many mediocre teams in the EPL. Even manure fans have turned to historians just like liverpool and arsenal fans. Only chelsea and city are worth any grain of salt in that league. |
lacasa: When someone isn’t smart enough to express their frustration, they use dirty words. Those are words that describe a lack of intelligence. Smart people don’t use those kind of dirty words, because they find it an insult to their intelligence. You are calling yourself intelllgent? That is a very glaring mistruth. I am not surprised that you have tactically ran away That is what happens when you face someone of superior intelligence. |
lacasa: Does kano have 13% derivation? NDDC? Et alYou are an idiott. Are you the one to tell the owners of the resources what should be their share? Where are the SMEs and who are the beneficiaries? Why is kano state the highest receipents of federal almajiri schools.? You must be very good at playing ostrich. Btw,who are these "flatees" you keep talking about? I am from delta state you dumb fucck, and we own the oil money your megalomanic governor is wasting. |
MuhdG: When I say ure ignorant and stupid I have a reason. You are a nincompoop. Dont quote me again, you malnourished terrorist. |
lacasa: See this one. What useless internal revenue? Why is your state still one of the highest receipents of federal allocations? Why is the FG still having to intervene in kano in the provision of simple and basic primary education? What are you guys doing with your "IGR"? |
MuhdG: When the owners of the wealth leaveBloody illiterate. The funds for your education has been misappropriated. |
lacasa: After all the North's wealth gave u access to that stinking oil u rant so ignorantly about.Kano state is not singapore or malaysia. Kano state is a parasitic state cursed with a governor dumb enough to build schools in a foreign coumtry, when the state has the highest illiteracy and poverty rate in the country. |
MuhdG: Atleast he is using the money on fly overs and not pocketing it like ur useless governors do it.My useless governor? You must be very stupidd. Moronn calling worthless flyovers a judicious use of money for a state like kano. I dont blame you. When Nigeria divide and the owners of the wealth leave, we will see how many flyovers the idiott will build. |
auwal87: Gov. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso looking at the prototype of the over N10 billion (2km) Sabon Gari flyover at the government house. Construction work has already reached an advanced stage.Yes keep building flyovers, while the future of your children are lost to illiteracy, abysmal governance and terrorism. Simpleton. |
Absolute nonsense. All these APC synchophants should be rounded up and shot. For a state with the highest out of school children in Nigeria and probably the world ,building schools in Niger-republic and constructing worthless and highly inflated flyovers is the height of madness and deserves a long jail term. Mad nation. |
I spit on this thread . Never again will i waste my time debating national issues on nairaland. I hope Nigeria divides and quickly. Let those from niger republic go their own way. |
Btw, i won't be surprised if that zainab has a boyfriend. I feel sad for any broke guy pursuing women at the expense of money. The woman you are wasting your time for will leave you for a richer man. |
lol. What has the average Nigerian woman got to offer mikel? Absolutely nothing. Olga is most likely related to abramovich and must be heavily loaded with russian oil money. She definitely has a lot to offer mikel. |
I expect Nigerians to pay a visit to these dockyards and enjoy the intricacies of the indigenous ship building industry. God bless china for the much needed technology transfer. |
Nigerian navy is the most promising branch of the military. They are very proactive and in tune with the 21st century unlike the army and the airforce. |
