Trouble Looms In N’ Delta Over NNPC’s Lopsided Employment There is looming breakdown of law and order in the Niger Delta region following alleged cocked-eyed employment by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), undermining the region which produces the oil. The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), in a press statement signed and made available to newsmen by the IYC president, Pereotubo Oweilaemi, Esq., said the agency has already seeded candidates for its ongoing employment. “We have been reliably informed by competent sources within the NNPC that the Parastatal has shortlisted candidates for its ongoing employment exercise. However, to our chagrin, not more than ten persons from Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States put together are featured in the list, while states in the Northern and Western parts of the Country got more than twenty slots each”. According to him, the Ijaw Youth Council rejects the unfair employment, which only gave the Ijaw nation mere five slots, “IYC rejects the discriminatory and nepotistic employment. The Ijaw nation is feeding this Country with the mineral deposits found in her lands barely has five slots in the whole list. Meanwhile, only one state alone in the North has been shortlisted with not less than twenty persons. Is this the one Nigeria they're preaching? He challenged NNPC to come public by publishing the shortlisted names on national dailies, “For the avoidance of doubt, NNPC should immediately publish the list of shortlisted candidates in the dailies for the world to see the truth. We have it on good authority that the Agency refuses to publish the list because of the disparities associated in the process. “To perfect its divisive and apartheid employment process, the NNPC has resolved to surreptitiously call the shortlisted candidates for interview in order to cover up its fraudulent and nepotistic agenda just like what other agencies have been doing under this Buhari's regime. Meanwhile, Barr Oweilaemi, has called on Nigerians to hold Dr Maikanti Baru, answerable for any breakdown of law and order in the region. “It's either the Agency publishes the list of shortlisted candidates for the world to see its sincerity or we enjoin Nigerians to hold Dr. Maikanti Baru and the cabals in the presidency responsible for any crisis in the oil sector. The goose that lays the golden egg can no longer be an onlooker in the sharing of the dividends from the black gold which has been taken from our lands at the detriment of the people's lives. “Enough is enough. If there is any disparity in the process then we call on the GMD to immediately correct it before it publishes the list. Doing that will in no doubt guarantee peace in the oil sector. The oil producing states cannot take less. Rather, special consideration should be given to these environmentally devastated and economically pauperized oil bearing states. That is the only panacea to address this injustice”, Oweilae This country sef... everybody want to chop from the oil. E be like say dey go dey give people some crude Petroleum oil may dem dey drink sef |

The House of Representatives has approved 45 years and below as the age benchmark for prospective job seekers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies. This is as the House unanimously passed “a bill for an act to prohibit discrimination against job seekers in federal government agencies (eradication) and allied matters act” sponsored by Sergius Ogun (PDP, Edo) When the bill is signed into law, Nigerians aged 45 and below would be eligible for employment into any government establishment including the military, police and other paramilitary organisations. This is just as most organisations especially military and security agencies always fix a maximum of 30 years for applicants seeking employment into their services. Section 3 (1) and (2) of the bill provide that “no citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall be deprived of employment into any of the agencies of the federal government, on grounds that he /she is above thirty (30) years of age. “That any citizen of Nigeria that is thirty (30) years and above but not above forty-five (45) years, shall be entitled to gainful employment within any of the agencies of the federal government of Nigeria. Section 3 (3) provides “that the provisions of the above subsections shall be subject to the provisions of the laws establishing security agencies, including the Armed forces and other paramilitary agencies with regards to age for enlistment in the relevant security agencies” It also provides in section 3 (4) that “where a person to be employed into any of the federal government’s agencies is found to be qualified but of an age that is above the age limit specified for such employment, the abilities and/or qualification of such person shall have recourse to and his age shall not operate as a disqualification” At the committee of the whole presided over by Deputy speaker Lasun Yussuff on Wednesday, the legislators explained that the act seeks to eradicate the age barriers on employment into federal government agencies and ensure that no citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is deprived of employment into federal government agencies on the basis of age. |
kingbee90:They are going to check ur height and chest size at the camp to ensure that you meet the required height stipulated in the form that is part of the physical assessment or medicals if you may call it. If you don't reach that you will be kicked out at that stage so as to curb down on number of successful candidates still |
What's happening to our youth these days. Is it the new trend now to take one's life by oneself. God please help our youth, we can't continue to hear such news again. Pls suicide never solve anything infact God will even ask you why you have to take your life you never created yourself and you never knew how you came to be. So why take your life that you've NOT created. Even devil go vex for u as well when u wan blame am on that. Pls always talk to someone when u feel downcasted and depressed and lean on God's word in the scriptures that's the best solace and refuge you can trust |
Adebowale1616:When on the webpage...it should be at down side but in the printable format it should reorient at the side of your application details. Maybe the cybercafes attendant printed it on-screen without going through the printable format which should make it be at the right side I guess though, but that shouldn't be a headache as long as his details show clearly and the passport is there and clear. The most important thing is to pray he got shortlisted.... there's no abcradabra by the cybercafes attendant... to that... that's how it was meant to be |

This is a country where the credibility of some so-called 2-1 cert are even doubtful. Sometimes many things goes under the carpet in our uni. Some 2-2 may even be good or would have achieved 2-1but due to some constraints in their academics such loss of a breadwinner, lack of fund, being self independent in training yourself in school and all the hussle. So there are many factors that can make a first class to come down to 2-1 or even 2-2. Our challenges are not all same and equal & our individual ability to withstand stress differs...But pple seem to take it on face-value without checking the nitty-gritty of the case |
But how they go burn person, the rope tied on his legs no get burnt and even the tire sef.... are u seeing what I saw.... ![]() |

EngrKem:Mr age reducer...keep on reducing your age on every application but make u no forget ur real age o? ![]() |
Burchester:You know whether na people wey sure say they must be shortlisted or wey get Abraham as father for custom dey ask of past questions... ![]() |
Instead of you pple to use all these effort you use to throw insults to think over your lives and pray for divine favor for yourselves. Quite pathetic that it can come down to this extent in this thread. Am highly disappointed in some people here behaving immaturely |
Why all these insults nah!!!...Haba...make una be una brothers keeper & sisters keepers ni?? |
Let me tell u people the real fact all these age, chest size, head size, leg size requirements blah blah are just formalities. Is just ur connection. That you are below 30 or that u reduce age or still put above 30 doesn't guarantee ur selection o. Don't be surprised that people above 30yrs, 0.5in chest size, and 1.5m height may even get the job more than those below 30 or even 25yrs 1.7m tall guyz, 0.97in chest size(macho chest . This is Nigeria where criteria or ur physical attributes even though stipulated doesn't work. Believe it or not!! |
