The wedding, and the honeymoon My wedding was on three different days! Court, Traditional and the White wedding. The Court was on January 2nd 2003, and it was done in Lagos. There were only 5 people present. My hubby & I and our 2 witnesses (my sister and brother-in-law) and a friend of my sister. The Traditional ceremony was in my Village, Abonnema, an Island in Rivers State. It was on the 9th of Jan, 2003. That is basically an occassion for the old folks, so I just went along with the whole show for my grannies' sakes! The White wedding was in port harcourt, on the 11th of Jan 2003. I had so much fun and I really felt happy on that day. I was so relaxed, I didn't feel apprehensive as I thought I would be cos technically, I was already married! On the evening of my white wedding, there was a Bibife Ceremony, which is a custom of the kalabaris'. Bibife means- Buying of Mouth. The two families (brides' and grooms') drop money in a dish to 'buy' the other families' mouth. The money can be anything from N10-N200, depending on what you feel like giving. It symbolizes that anymember of the other family can eat from the other familys' house, your mouth has been 'bought' and you are free to est there. The money is given to the bride and groom as the reason for the ocassion. After that, by Esan tradition (my hubbys' tribe) I was escorted to my hubbys' place. (A family friend of my hubbys' house in my case as none of his immediate family live in PH) The honey moon? It was in lagos, in my new home, but i'm still livin' it! Do you think you made a mistake choosing your partner? No, I don't. Hope I feel this way forever and ever, Amen! How often you're tempted to be unfaithful and how often you fall Have never been tempted, so nice try. How long you think the marriage will last. Until death do us Part in Jesus' name. Amen! |
Na wah! Can't we all just have intellectual arguments and refrain from hitting below the belt?? |
