Can u give step by step root process please.

I cant cos you need to download su super root and twrp recovery for M5 and you also need to learn how to use SP flash tool and how to install VCOM usb drivers. Its complicated bro and if i start posting links to those files, i might get a warning from Nairaland Mods.

Automatically it'll backup to phone memory for you and you can later move it to SD card if you like, you can even restore it from otg if it's on it.

What's the main difference between the Indian ROM and the Abuja ROM

Network option in the Indian ROM is am issue as you can't put it on 3G only mode. And you can change your fonts in the Indian ROM without rooting. You can't upload stored picture in your phone when browsing with chrome or opera mini in the India version. It takes you straight to camera to snap but UC browser can do that. Those are just my observations for now. Screen shot of the Indian ROM version below. Check if yours is the same thing.

Yeah. I'm no longer using the Stock ROM that came with my phone due to a minor accident that happened. I downloaded India Stock ROM and it seems like its a higher version than ours but that 3G issue is just the downside but I'm on 3G only mode right now thanks to one code that I used.

You can do both, but I'll advise you to just boot into recovery directly and backup, by doing so it wont come back to the stock recovery again.

it happened to me too after I've successfully flashed the custom recovery I booted into it and say it after a reboot it came back to stock recovery, I had to do it again and backed up my ROM.

So it's not big deal just do it again

I really appreciate your reply. Do I need to back up to phone memory or I will need to insert a formatted memory card into The phone and if its into memory card, will 4GB mcard be enough for the backup?

Yes oh. That's the one I'm using. Its cool but stick to your abuja version. I'm having issues with it. My sim 2 keeps popping "send message" from below myscreen. Still don't know what it means and you won't have option to switch to 3G only which is a big problem in naija here cos your phone will keep switching back to 2g. I had to use *#*#4636#*#* to force it on 3G only mode.

OK. I want to ask you one question, after flashing the custom recovery, should I boot into recovery immediately or I should on the phone first normally ?

After pressing volume up plus power button, it took me to fast boot, recovery and normal then I entered normal and this was what I saw. Northing like Install there or the white page that I was suppose to see

Boss, how you take scan? Can't find anything of such on my 'Display' option.

After Display, click on font switch then you'll see More option at the button of the phone. Click on More then scan.

Mine has Font switch so I was able to change it. Though I bricked my device before so I'm now using an Indian Stock ROM.

Without rooting. I downloaded the font from Hifont then I went to my phone settings - Display - fonts - more then scan and your newly downloaded fonts will be added to the phone. All you have to do is select it as default.

Can't really help with that cos I just started using the phone and mine is displaying. I didn't do any settings. Someone here should be able to help.

Change your IMEI number with MTK engineering Mode. You don't need to root your phone to do that.

It's cool though. The only con is that you can't select only 3g network. All options are combined with 2g and no matter which network you choose, it will end up in Edge. Had to do a little research and i was able to use one dialing code to fix it on 3g antomatically.

But if you can successfully install the VCOM which has nothing to do with you phone, then you're good to go. VERY EASY

I did that and bricked my device. I'm using a different stock ROM now and was able to flash TWRP into the device but the problem now is getting it to boot in recovery. Can you follow me on Nairaland here. Need to ask you some qurstion.s.

Was trying to root mine this morning. After using sp tool to flash the phone recovery. It was successful but the phone ended up bricked. See as I begin sweat for this cool harmattan. Thank God for my vast knowledge in crashing and restoring my BB 10 OS via autoloader. I was able to get a stock ROM. India version. Lol. That's what I'm using now.
