Yeah PayPal loves to charge high, and even if you cancel or refund, they would still keep their processing fees (which depending on the amount you are sending could be higher than $5).

Other payment platforms would take $2 maximum (usually $1 and a few cents).
The sad thing is when they screw merchant (not regular people's personal account, but business account). I am ashamed to say last year August, I shad tears for the first time in more than 4 years. Mid way in the conversation with their call agent (international phone call that usually last 20 minutes minimum), I realized the agent knew it was legitimate money but was pretending to care while looking for way to frustrate me to give up reopening my account. It was the equivalent of one year of my salary at my shitty job, and they expect me to forgive and forget.

I went on their 'Support' twitter account and saw Nigerians, Ghanaians and even Americans begging them for their own hard earn money.
