That was when moses was giving the law to the people and the reason behind that thundering noise is in verse 22-23 "And the LORD said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the people of Isreal: 'You have seen for yourselves that I have talked with you from heaven. 23 You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.""

According to the laws given to Moses the people of God are not allowed to make an image or an idol of God on the earth. Jesus Christ said it all when he said we are to worship God in spirit and in truth. John 4:23: “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him". So you can see here that because the God we serve is not man made we know that the Holy Spirit of God rests in us, therefore we worship in Spirit and truth by writing his laws in our heart that we may not sin against him.

By the way I also asked you to produce the picture of your spirit since you believe man is a spirit or have you changed your belief?

The angels of God are also described as spirits but they could take human forms to appear to us when God sends them to give us a message. No one can explicitly say what exactly Adam and Eve saw in the garden of Eden because we were not there, we could only suggest that God appeared in human form to comunicate with them.

The bible says that is only if we are righteous and holy that we can see God, even after Moses saw a little of God's glory the Isrealites could not look at his face because of their iniquity. I pray you become eligible to see God in his glory.

There is nothing like that on google, no christian has ever been pronounced dead for two days came back to life and said he saw anything, most just lie in order to either sell books or become famous. If you read their books many of which I have read you will know that they are all telling lies because they each describe heaven and the Jesus they saw very differently.

I explained previously that we see things differently and explain them differently, it doesn't mean we are lying. Of course some of them could be lying, it is a mistake to trust humans. We have the good, the bad and the ugly among us and religion doesn't make all of us different except we choose to.

Rather than reading books of heaven and hell why not read the words of Jesus to learn about him before learning about judgement. You cant start reading the last chapter of a book and expect to learn everything about it.

Name one christian that has been confirmed dead for two days , who woke up and told people stories of heaven. By the way, why are christians always giving different and conflicting stories about this heaven and tge after life of theirs? Some will tell you they died and God showed them people burning in fire, while others will tell you that they died and God showed them people that were separated from him living in a dark place, not a fiery place. The description of the so called heaven varies greatly , some claim people are allowed to marry their earthly spouses, others say its not allowed, some claim they even saw the bible there in heaven. The question is which bible did they see? Is it the Catholic bible with its 72 books , the protestant bible with its 66 books, the Greek orthodox bible or the Ethiopian bible with its 68 books. Which bible did they see in heaven out of the many types?

I don't want to derail this thread, you can always search on google. If we both saw an elephant for the first time our descriptions would be different because we are different human beings. I don't know the bible that is in heaven but I know the words of Jesus in my bible are the truth and life.

The bible in heaven would contain the words of Jesus which I live by and those are the words every one of us would be judged with.

There are a million and one Christian books that are inspired by the holy spirit look for some and read it with an inquisitive mind, I pray it leads you to the truth and the bible contains the word of God and it us the most inspired book in the world. Not at all, If you read about Jesus Christ his message is pure and uncut, He warns us against sin and love of money. Jesus Christ message brings us away from the laws of moses which is instant judgement but rather He preaches Love. There are a lot of online messages about christianity that can help us understand the message of the bible.

The bible is totally different from what most of these pastors are preaching, do you know that in the old testament when the christians brought their money to be shared among themselves so that no one would lack. The apostles did not touch the money but designated people to do it, rather focused on preaching the message of christ.

Everything about their churches is recorded, how they choose bishops and pastors, shared food and wine but there is nothing about how they collect tithe and offering. I am not saying you cant pay, if you wish to, but I do not think God would hold it against you particularly if you are giving the money to the poor.

You are very right it is a fictious story but you do not understand the story, the robots where created with inbuilt knowledge about their God, their forefathers before them had visions of their creators and gave them books to understand, their crime was simple they failed to believe it and rather invent a lie to hold unto.

The energy particle they were meant to create to help them sustain their world was not created so their creators could not help them and when they discovered by probably the creators finally showing themselves. It was too little to late for them. They therefore destroyed themselves.

God is asking you to just believe in Jesus Christ to save you from your sins and that is all, yet you consider that too dificult for you to do. Everyday you eat, take your bathe, etc. to take care of your body and to live for another day so how come believing in God and having eternal life is so difficult for you to do. It is not God that sends unbelievers to hell but it is unbelievers themselves, you have the truth with you but you refuse to believe it as you would rather believe a lie. Firstly, this post has nothing to do with atheism as the title of your post goes.

Science is advancing and you are serious beneficiary of such advancement. How can you possibly attempt to sell an invisible commodity by cooking up all sort of defenses so that it will look believable. Scientific advancement in robotics, genetics, Synthetic genomics have nothing in common with bronze age substitution.

Do you know that great scientists like Pascal, Faraday, Eistein all believed in God. My post never attacked science, I have nothing against science, I actually love science cause it helps me to appreciate the power and might of God himself.

Wow thats great, how would I have known that it was biology that brought you to life. I thought the difference between men and animals is that we ask questions while animals just accept the truth. In your previous response you said we are inherently inquisitive in nature which means that is the reason why we are intelligent. We ask questions about how we came to be, who created the world etc. Governments spend millions of quid every now and then to discover the origin of mankind. If that was not needed then there would be no need to spend such amounts, You intend to build a great family legacy and run a buisness empire, your story sounds like the parable of the rich fool in the bible.

The rich fool made a lot of money and was planning to improve on his empire when his world came crashing and he died. That was the end of everything he created in life. The book of proverbs says that what is the essence of gathering wealth when you do not know who is going to inherit it whether it is going to be a wise man or a foolish man and all your wealth would be lost. By the way when you die would you be buried with your wealth, everything you worked for is gone you would leave it here.

Then how would it be when you die and find out that the bible is the truth and everything written in it is true how sad would that be at the end of the day. First of all I don't serve a picture, I am not a catholic, according to the scriptures "Thou shall not make any graven image of anything in heaven or on earth" Exo 20:4. That is the reason why you would never see any image of Moses among the Jews.

Since the beginning of time men have been trying to understand what happens when they die and that is actually the strongest point of christianity to other religions. Jesus Christ would have either been the true son of God or a failure to have said he was going to die and rise up on the third day. If he didnt rise up his disciples would have scattered as many others who have been saying they would die and rise, you can check the net for more details. The only way christianity would have been able to maintain his position and drive forward is for Him to have risen which the disciples witnessed and were able to share the truth with other people and today the truth is been shared with you.

Our conscience is the spirit of God in us and it helps us to learn about the things that are right and what God wants us to do. We have the freewill to choose to accept it or not. Why would God be involved with legalizing gay marriage when he created us male and female, if everyone was gay before the advancement of science then humanity would not exist. I do not like to talk about other religions, because to me christianity is more than just a religion it is a way of life. Think deep for a second. You believe in your god and that brings you peace. That is nice. The muslim believes in allah and that brings them peace. Other theists have strong faith in their beliefs and they also feel peace. I don't believe in any of them and I also have peace of mind.

Happiness is a choice and NOT a belief. Your belief only fuels your conviction to be happy or moral and that is why I believe that religion is necessary because a lot of people without a personal belief system would just go haywire.

Considering the fact that this Jesus character isn't even real then it is only obvious that the men who decided to come up with the story only needed a way to excuse god's incompetence. If god cannot ease my suffering or pain, what exactly do I need him for? The everlasting pain and suffering story is only threat used to put people who are gullible and don't have independent basis of morality stay in check. If god couldn't successfully heal common malaria that N100 Amalar can cure, what exactly can he do?

Jesus raised people from the dead, he healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, he healed lepers etc. there was no disease Jesus Christ did not heal when he was on the earth. By the way you are not a scientist so you might not know this but it is not the amala that cures your malaria, if i may add but it is our body system, our white blood cells that do the curing the amala just gives the white blood cells inspiration to do the curing. The story of Lazarus and the rich man in the bible explains this. The rich man when he was alive was wicked to Lazarus, then they both died and while Lazarus went to heaven the rich man went to hell. In Hell the rich man begged father Abraham who is in heaven to send Lazarus to preach to his brothers on earth so they would go to heven. Father Abraham reply was simple they have the prophets and if they did not listen to them then they would not listen even if one comes from the grave.

According to my story the scientists did not feel the need to reveal themselves to the robots but gave them books about humans for them to understand. Actually what the scientists did was to create the knowledge of humans in their source code and as the robots continue to inquire in their mind about their creator, they are able to tap into the knowledge about their creator and get more information through dreams and robotic visions.

God has revealed enough of His nature for us to be able to trust Him. He has shown through the events of history, in the workings of nature, and through the life of Jesus Christ that He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise, all-loving, all-holy, unchanging, and eternal. And in that revelation, He has shown that He is worthy to be trusted. But, as with the Israelites in the wilderness, the choice is ours whether or not we will trust Him. Let me ask you a question can a goat go to the sea and swim or can a whale come to land and be walking? Both of them would surely die. Why?

The answer is simple if you ignore the law by which you are created under you would face the wrath of your creator which is death. The same law is with Humans, God created us in his image and we are supposed to abide by his laws and do according to what he intended us to do. When we fail to do these then God would in his wrath deliver judgement to us.

As for the thread this is my response, the questions you asked are because you do not understand the bible, I would explain it in three points to you.

1. Personal Admonitions Versus National Interests - First Understand the Context
Before we get too far into examining whether the Bible portrays God inconsistently, we need to first understand the context in which the individual passages are given. This is an important point to remember in trying to understand any difficult portion of Scripture. We must always interpret the verse in light of the context in which it was written since that can drastically color the meaning the passage takes on.
When we look at Old Testament passages such as Joshua 6:17 or Judges 20:43-48, one point we note is that the commands of God are addressed on a national level. Here God is instructing Israel as a forming nation. Christ's command to turn the other cheek and pray for those who persecute you are directed to individuals on how they should deal with other individuals who offend them.
So we must note that trying to draw a comparison between these passages is strained from the outset. They are addressed to two totally different audience types (a political government versus individuals) and two different sets of circumstances (establishing a new nation versus dealing with a personal wrong).
Another point we note is that the commands given to Joshua and the people of Israel were for a single circumstance where God was instructing them. They were to destroy all of the inhabitants of Jericho, but that command did not extend beyond them, and it was to only happen during that timeframe. This command of God did not give the Israelites license to just wipe out anyone who they deemed as in their way.
The instructions of Jesus, however, are general admonitions for life. They are guidelines for how we can be more loving to our fellow human beings and they help instill a spirit of selflessness in our individual characters. Also, they are not to be taken as hard and fast rules. When Jesus Himself was struck on the cheek by an officer of the Sanhedrin, He did not turn to offer His other cheek, but challenged the officer who had struck Him (ref. John 18:22-23).
In all, we can see that comparing these kind of passages and claiming they are contradictory is flawed right from the outset. However, this doesn't quite get us out of the woods yet. Your question also focuses on the nature of God. If God is all-loving, then how can He command the wholesale destruction of an entire population?

2. Guidelines for Protecting an Infant Nation
As I pointed out above, many of the Old Testament passages brought up in this are limited to a specific period in Israel's history - one in which Israel was just starting to establish itself as a new nation. And we must remember God had a very specific plan for the nation Israel - it would be the nation that would give the world God's word (ref. Rom. 3:2), and even more importantly, it would be the nation out of which the Messiah would come (Matthew 2:4-6).
Because Israel was to provide the very elements from which all the people of the world would be saved, the survival and protection of the nation was paramount. Therefore, God gave the infant nation a special measure of protection when establishing it in the land of Canaan. This is entirely consistent with God's character.
Take for instance when you were in primary school you were told how to count you could solve 5 - 2 easily but when it comes to 2 - 5 you would be taught that it is impossible. But when you get to primary 4 you would be thought that 2 - 5 is -3. Is this being inconsistent. No, it's merely recognizing that certain protections are necessary and those rules will change when that maturity level of the individual increases.
Similarly, Israel, as an immature nation with a very new religious system needed to be sheltered from the idolatry of the Canaanite nations, who would have corrupted Israel's worship of the true God and garbled its message to the rest of the world.

3. Different Aspects of God's Character are not Contradictory.
Beyond the protection God provides to Israel, another reason God would command such action is simply to apply His justice to a wicked nation. In Genesis 15:16, Abram first asks about possessing the land, God tells him that the time is not yet right "for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full." In other words, God was going to give the nations of Canaan additional time to repent ant turn from their wicked ways. When they didn't, God chose to se Israel to bring His judgment upon them. Similarly, God used Assyria and Babylon to judge Israel later in its history.
Although the punishments of God may appear to some as out of character with His mercifulness and love, it is not true that these are contradictory attributes. Justice is necessary to show love to the victims of evil. If God did not punish those who perpetrate evil, we would not only consider Him unrighteous but uncaring as well. When reading some of these isolated instances in the scripture, we are not privy to the extent of their actions and why God feels they should be judged, so we tend to think of the judgment as unfair. But God is God; He is in the position to judge His creation and because of that He doesn't need to justify His actions to us with an explanation why a nation deserves judgment.
Throughout the Bible, God is portrayed as not only loving and long-suffering, but also a righteous judge who will come to punish the unrepentant and the wicked. This is as true in the New Testament as in the Old. The Book of Revelation specifically speaks about God's judgment on the nations and His wholesale destruction of nations. Similarly, the Old Testament highlights instances where god reached out to sinning nations and gave them unusual grace. The Ninevites were extended a chance to repent in the book of Jonah, even though their deeds were wicked. So the character of God remains consistent throughout the Bible.
I hope this discussion has helped reconcile some of the divergent perceptions that one can draw from different aspects of God's character. God acts in a loving way when He protects an infant nation in order to bring salvation to the world. He acts lovingly when He metes out judgment to a wicked nation. Those who may clam these are contradictory in nature can't support their position with instances such as these. It would be unloving for God to act in any other way.

In 3069 scientists and engineers have been able to perfect the creation of robots in the world in such a way that the robots can repair themselves and improve on themselves, they the robots can do anything they wish to do to themselves. They create new robots as they wish without the assistance of man, after some time around 100-120 years their bodies deteriorate but because they do not have access to their source code they cannot live forever so they die and new robots are created from their bodies.

These scientists decided to place these robots in a world of their own to study their behaviors and learn from them. They live alone without the influence of mankind, they can do as they wish and men do not interfere, just watch them from afar and see how they behave. They are been imprinted with a source code that they cannot tamper with, but there is the concept of Machine Learning. This explores the study and construction of algorithms that the robots can improve on and learn new things similar to the way humans learn new things.

These robots originally have the concept of Humans as their creators in their original source code but as the years went by, they began to doubt the existence of humans. Every year they are supposed to pay a tribute to their creators by sending an energy source which they work all their lives to build to their creators, the humans which they never see. The energy source is sent through a particular black hole in space to their creators. This particular energy source is used to feed their planet and give energy to their world so that it keeps self sustaining.

Some of these robots began to doubt the existence of God and their scientists began to suggest that they were developed from a toaster that toasters began to learn things more than its original creation such as it started to do more than just toasting bread but frying the bread itself and from there it developed into what is known as robots, but they could not really trace the reason behind the Humans they worship, there are books on those humans and their world. These scientists believe they are just mere fiction and nothing more than that, the scientists influence the robots to stop making these energy source particle and all the robots believed them.

They therefore started having fun rather than working, drinking, parting and enjoying their lives to the fullest. As expected their world began to have cracks and later they understood the truth and began to double up their work but it was too little to late so that was our they destroyed their world.
