Dear friends, if the aim of the attackers is to create a sense of insecurity and panic across the nation in order to advance their narrow interests, Nigerians will stand up to them and make it clear that they cannot be intimidated.Priceless. ![]() Goodluck Nigeria |
princekevo:That is what it is. If similar sentiments from Yakasai and Ciroma cause you to cringe, why proffer the same? If you feel GEJ is not credible, then you need to put your reasons together and forget about where he comes from or how people from his region think about him (doesnt matter a jot). |
We need to kill tribal politics. GEJ is the best among the lot, so lets leave it at that; I don't care where he comes from, except when known tribalists decide to harp on that. How can any thinking person even compare GEJ to the likes of IBB, Saraki, Atiku or Gusau? Such can only happen when we allow our vision be clouded by the primitivity of shallow tribal hatred. |
People get blinded by hatred and tribalism, so much that they get foolish. They set traps for others, yet snare themselves. Bombs go off, but they forget to commiserate with the victims and go after the man from the other ethnicity, region or section. But the blood was not in vain, it calls the perpetrators, the vampires, vultures and tribal lords. Nigeria will be cleansed, regardless of whose ox is gored. |
princekevo:Are you real? What all progressive minds are set on in these epochal times, is the end of all tribalistic and regional thought; the end of zoning and shuffling. You need to key into that. |
It is time for progressive Northerners and Middle Belters to scream out loud and pull out from that archaic and primitive pit led by the Ciroma's, Yakasai's, Kanti Bello's and other Neanderthal beasts of prey. They can ally with other progressive parts of the country so that we all move forward. Once the extremist core Northern politics has been defeated, a new Nigeria will be born, where every girl, boy, woman and man is equal; where the is no Boko Haram and no Jos style pogroms; where progress is the watchword and all religious views are respected. |
Escalante4:Not only SSS, but the Interpol, as well as US and UK intelligence sources have pinpointed the culprits (at least Dokpesi) and the flow of money between 4 Nigerian accounts, Dokpesi and Okah. Question, is Dokpesi in MEND? |
bisiaet:My understanding; SSS has basically told us that monies from politicians have been traced through 4 accounts to Dokpesi, who in turn (while under wicked surveillance ) was spotted with Okah in SA. In other words, Dokpesi's goose is cooked and waiting to be served. Some folk are stuck on the text messages. . . Not clever! Those text messages are obvious transliterations, in fact, when the raw ones are read out in court, Dokpesi will shout, ewo!!!! ![]() |
Nigeria, the North, And How It Will All End By Leonard Karshima Shilgba, PhD To the families of Nigerians that lost their lives in the dastardly bombing act on October 1, 2010, I can only express regrets that with unabashed abandon, elders such as Adamu Ciroma and his colleagues, under a nondescript organization called NORTHERN POLITICAL LEADERS FORUM, are exploiting their misfortune and that of the nation to make as much political capital as possible. I am a Tiv man from Benue State, who happens to be a Nigerian by the craftsmanship of the British. I am called a Northerner by geographical convenience. Accordingly, I shall open my heart and speak advisedly on some serious issues that have beset us as a nation most lately. I appeal to the reader to follow me carefully and thoughtfully as I make reference to some statements I have made in some previous articles for elucidation. I saw and wrote about what I saw in November 2009 in an article entitled: “On Yar’Adua’s Incapacitation, the Constitution, and a Dream” the following words: “It was Sunday night on November 22, 2009. I went to bed and had what you may call an open vision or a dream. Nigeria’s president at the time, Mr. Umar Yar’Adua had died. I saw that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the Vice-President assumed the position of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. There was uneasiness, particularly in the northern part of Nigeria. In this dream, Dr. Goodluck declined the request by the North not to contest the presidential elections in 2011. Then, the unease turned to something inexplicably dastardly.” The bomb blasts on October 1, 2010 and the near euphoric reaction by people like Adamu Ciroma, the “Northern Political Leaders Forum” and their supporters did not come to me as a surprise. But I know exactly how the drama shall play out. Nigerians, we must not forget so soon: 1.When Boko Haram struck in 2009, Ciroma and his “Northern Political Leaders Forum” did not ask the late president (Umar Yar’Adua) to resign. When the leader of Boko Haram was killed in the custody of Nigerian security agents in an extra-judicial manner, apparently to silence him in order to protect his sponsors, Ciroma and his collaborators did not ask Yar’Adua to resign. How dare Ciroma and his collaborators to insult the intelligence of Nigerians! 2.Repeatedly, Nigerians have been butchered and killed during “religious riots” in Northern Nigeria, the latest and most recurring being the Jos and Plateau State pogrom. Ciroma and his group were silent and did not ask President Yar’Adua, who was president during the peak of the crisis last year, to resign. 3.I am sure Ciroma was in Nigeria when the first act of bombing was carried out in Nigeria under the dictatorship of General Babangida, when Dele Giwa was killed. I don’t know if he called on the General to resign. 4.We have lived in numerous crises orchestrated by the generation of Adamu Ciroma; I am not aware that Adamu Ciroma has reacted passionately, calling on the president or Head of State during those crises to resign. 5.Just recently, when the late President Yar’Adua left the country without a leader, and so in crisis, it was people like Adamu Ciroma, who threatened that nobody should remove Yar’Adua. He has never shown any interest in the preservation of this country, Nigeria. We know exactly what the generation of Adamu Ciroma is trying to do. We know what exploiters of the nation’s recent misfortune are eager to accomplish. They seek to sow seeds of discord and split further the north and south. They seek to cut off whatever remaining emotional attachment between the north and south. To what use is our education if we fail to see through this? They want to sustain the politics of divide that has left our nation swooning. They delight in holding the back of the mirror before us and yet abusing us for our inability to see our faces. They use religion to separate us while by their acts and utterances they show they aren’t religious at all. But the end of the present drama shall depend on how President Jonathan handles issues. I shall provide some insight into what he can do and should do if Nigeria will survive this latest onslaught: 1.Avoid Distraction: The end has definitely come for those veterans of divide-and-rule politics. President Jonathan should desist from making further comments about the on-going investigation into the bombings of October 1, 2010 and allow his aides and relevant security officials to address us on the progress of the case. The reason is simple; whatever he says shall be misconstrued by professional politicians who want to mock the nation and distract from hunting down killers of our patriots who innocently lost their lives on October 1, 2010. Take, for instance, his recent statement that MEND did not bomb Abuja on October 1, 2010, but “terrorists” did. I listened to him. He went further to say that “terrorists” such as bombed Abuja and engaged in kidnapping recently in Nigeria committed such heinous acts, not for any altruistic reasons such as the liberation of the oppressed, but for personal selfish gain. An objective listener understood what the president was saying, “Don’t hide under a group such as MEND to commit criminal acts; you are a terrorist, pure and simple.” The question is, who is MEND that bombed Abuja? Let us see his face. If some criminals claiming to be MEND have refused to show their faces, but rather chosen to hide behind some four-one-nine-like emails, and others, who have been known to be MEND’s leaders have publicly disassociated themselves from the crime, then it is not difficult to say MEND did not commit the act but “terrorists” did. And once investigations unearth sufficient evidence, those individuals shall be charged to court in their names and not in the name of some faceless MEND. What the president said was deep, but people choose to hear what they may. 2.Avoid deceit: In an article, “Nigeria: Interpreting Times And Events”, I warned, based on what I saw at the time, that we were living in a period of great deception; that the mutually assured destruction of politicians, who shall betray each other leading up to the 2011 elections, shall lead to the liberation of the good people. I then warned that Jonathan was not clean. If President Jonathan will help himself and therefore, Nigeria, he must not use any information at his disposal, which should have been used to free Nigeria, to rather score for himself political points and blackmail his political opponents. He must not allow himself to be frightened from taking decisive steps simply because some people may impute wrong motives. If he does, he is done for. The law must strictly take its course, whosoever is affected. 3.Avoid destructions: Why will the president go beyond the INEC’s request for extension of time to seek further amendments to the electoral Act 2010, which shall allow his aides, ministers, Ambassadors, Chairmen of Boards of parastatals etc., to vote in party indirect primaries? This is exactly what I was wary about when I wrote the article “INEC Should Stop This Distraction and Confusion!” President Jonathan must not shred any existing laws for the immediacy of self-service. No zone or region of Nigeria presently has a stable and strong leadership to guarantee a convenient split-up of the nation. I therefore, believe that should Nigeria be forced to break up by the provocations of elders such as Adamu Ciroma, who have lost self-control, the consequences of further break-ups shall make every mile a country in the aftermath. The North (of which I am a member) has no right to decide who should run for an elective office or not. Besides, no man or woman, elder or youth has the mandate to speak on behalf of the North in the same way no man presently (post-amnesty) can speak on behalf of MEND. Ciroma and his “Northern Elder Politicians Forum” do not speak for me and many other Northerners. I understand that Dr. Iorchiya Ayu, a fellow Tiv man, is a top official of that forum. He and all his colleagues in that forum do not speak for Dr. Leonard Shilgba and Northerners in general. And I believe that given my training and passion, I deserve to be heard and my views deserve to be examined too. Ciroma speaks for himself; and his group must not arrogate to itself the responsibility to speak on behalf of the North. I will surely speak at the polls just like any Northerner or Nigerian from whatever region can do if they so choose. When I reach out to cast my vote, at that moment I have the power to decide politically who shall govern me. Enough of this nonsense! These are people that have destroyed Nigeria, left our children dying before they reach the age of five; left the amajiris of the North uneducated while they send their children abroad and to expensive private schools in Nigeria; left the north far poorer than any region in this country; left the north with horrible roads just as in other regions of Nigeria; and left our country with poor social services. They cannot deceive northerners of my generation, not with our education at least, unless our degrees are as useless as their arguments have been. As I conclude, permit me to make some profound assertions: 1.There shall be no military take-over of government in Nigeria. 2.Many politicians will make a snare and fall inside. Some shall pay with their lives. Stray arrows shall get them. 3.The mystery woven shall be broken; the faces shall be revealed. That is the task of President Jonathan. If he deviates an inch from the true rule of law, betrays compassion, yields to pressure from “Traditional rulers” and “stakeholders”, he himself shall be consumed. Remember King Saul. If you spare King Agag, the throne shall be taken from you. I have spoken. He that has an ear let him hear. 4.I speak to King Agag. Although you say in your foolish haste, “Surely the bitterness of death is past,” you are deluded. For you shall be hewn down, even if not by the hands of a disobedient President Jonathan. “As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women.” You shall be blown up in pieces. These are no ordinary times. The beginning of the Nigerian revolution! Wednesday, 06 October 2010 01:00 Phillip Eyam-Ozung One of the highlights of the just-concluded Nigeria's fiftieth anniversary celebrations was the conferment of Golden jubilee Special Presidential Award on fifty distinguished Nigerians and friends of Nigeria. The awardees included six past Nigerian heads of state in the persons of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Generals Aguyi-Ironsi, Yakubu Gowon, Obasanjo, and Abdulsalami Abubakar as well as Alhaji Shehu Shagari. The list also included Nigeria's political pioneers such as Herbert Macaulay, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Mallam Aminu Kano and Obafemi Awolowo; Nigeria's literary icons as multiple award-winning Professor Chinua Achebe and Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka; Nigeria's legal icons such as Justice Udo-Udoma, Justice Adetokunbo Ademola, Professor Taslim Elias and the indefatigable FRA Williams; women's rights activists such Funmilayo Ransom-Kuti and Margaret Ekpo; athletes such as Olympic Gold medallists Chioma Ajunwa and Kanu Nwankwo and entrepreneurs such as Aliko Dangote and Mike Adenuga. The advertorial from the office of the secretary to the government of the Federation specifically indicated that these fifty distinguished Nigerians and friends of Nigeria were being honoured for 'their various roles and contributions to the development of the country.' I totally align myself with these awards and hereby send my congratulations to all the awardees! President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan also deserves commendation for both initiating this special award and his excellent handling of the actual conferment exercise during which he scored a hat-trick goal by explaining the reason for the exclusion of four former military heads of state who include Murtala Mohammed, Muhammadu Buhari, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Sani Abacha. Though Late General Murtala Mohammed is among the former military heads of state not honoured by President Jonathan, all references to former heads of state not honoured in this article should be understood as excluding Murtala Mohammed because despite the fact that he seized power through a military coup, he is still being acknowledged and celebrated as a true Nigerian national hero who added immense value by initiating both the war against corruption and the reform of the civil service as well as demonstrating visionary and disciplined leadership within the six months he was in office, the remaining three former heads of state more than deserve their exclusion from the golden jubilee honours list! As casual as President Goodluck Jonathan's explanation for the exclusion of four former military heads of state from the list of golden jubilee awardees seemed, it was the strongest presidential message ever sent by a sitting Nigerian President to his predecessors who seized power through military coups! The first message that the president sent the former military heads of state who were not honoured is that though they successfully stole power through the barrel of the gun, no gun is lethal enough to win them national honours. The second message the president sent the former military heads of state who were not honoured is that each of them took upon himself the reproach of a thief of state power who deserves to be appropriately punished rather than honoured! The third message the president sent the former military heads of state who were not honoured is that regardless of whatever titles they gave themselves and their governments, they remain just who they are-presidential-level power thieves! The fourth message the president sent the former military heads of state who were not honoured is that based on their ignoble role as military adventurists who seized power through military coups, they lack democratic/political legitimacy and so will only be attempting to eat their cake and have it by dabbling into politics without first taking responsibility for their treasonable sins as self-appointed enemies of democracy! The fifth message the president sent the former military heads of state who were not honoured is that in the fiftieth year of our nationhood, the foundation for the enthronement of accountable public leadership has been laid! Who says it's a light thing for a former military head of state to be pointedly told that he's not worth being conferred with an 18-carat gold medal by his distant civilian successor? The sixth message the president sent the former military heads of state who were not honoured is that just as all former heads of state are no longer the same, all GCFR medals conferred on them are no longer the same-a revaluation has occurred as part of the new Nigeria that is emerging! I can bet that the criteria which disqualified these former military heads of state from the golden jubilee special presidential awards have achieved the unintended objective of cutting atleast one of them who has spent all the long years since being forced out of office trying to cultivate a larger-than-life image to size! The 'strongman' who once had the power to annul Nigeria's all-time best presidential election lacked the power to annul the golden jubilee special presidential award which excluded him -such is life! Yours truly, if the former military heads of state who were excluded from the golden jubilee special presidential awards got the gist of the president's explanation of their exclusion, the honourable thing they should do is either head to Court to defend their role and legacy as developers of Nigeria who are deserving of the honour just 'denied' them or in the alternative resign their membership of the council of state on which they sit as former heads of state! To take neither of these steps is to accept the stigma of being only remembered as soldiers who stole state power, messed up the country and left no noble legacy for which present and future generations of Nigerians will remember them! As the Nigerian revolution inadvertently begins, my prayer is God Bless the new Nigeria and the new generation of Nigerian leaders that is about to emerge! http://www.businessdayonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14130:the-beginning-of-the-nigerian-revolution&catid=96:columnists&Itemid=350 |
But the source added that the South African Government released Okah whose house was searched and “did not consider the seriousness of the security report which was obtained from the United Kingdom intelligence.”http://www.pointblanknews.com/News/os3981.html |
It is also certain from the words of the govt sources, that IBB time is up. Dokpesi is very likely to confess sharp sharp! I can imagine that his every move is watched and the footsteps of the law are answering the blood call of his innocent victims. |
Ibime:No, my brother, Henry Okah is Ijaw from Ammasoma in Bayelsa. Also, GEJ doesn't have a bad record, except I'm not aware; so please can you share? |
Quite clearly, there is no way out for Dokpesi. All thats left for him to do now is sing like a birdie. ![]() |

Terrorists plan to bomb NASS -Dep Clerk •Bomb scare at NNPC •Policemen, SSS officials deployed •No cause for alarm -NNPC •Senate to debate explosions today Written by Gbola Subair, Paschal Okeke, Abuja, with Agency Reports Wednesday, 06 October 2010 AUTHORITIES of the National Assembly in Abuja, on Tuesday, said that terrorists had listed the institution as a possible target for bomb attack. The Deputy Clerk, National Assembly, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejokun, who made the disclosure, told newsmen that “we have received text messages and security reports that have indicated that the National Assembly is a possible target.” He said that based on this report, “we have also come to the conclusion and are making arrangements to restrict visitors who come to see senators and honourable members. “We are going to take measures that will restrict the movement of shuttle buses into the National Assembly, as well as to thoroughly screen all those who come into the complex,” he added. Adejokun said that measures would also be taken to introduce tags that would permit people to the different quarters of the complex. He urged members of the National Assembly press corps to endeavour to comply with the directives to avoid embarrassment from members of the security department. “We have concluded arrangement to install surveillance cameras in places before the end of the year,” he said and added that “we are not going to take this issue lying down.” Meanwhile, the Senate will today commence a debate on the remote and immediate cause of the bomb blasts. The explosions, it was reported, left no fewer than 14 people dead and several others sustaining varying degrees of injury. The debate is sequel to a “point of order” on matters of urgent national importance raised by Senator Anthony Manzo. Manzo said that the explosions, which were believed to have been carried out by terrorists, embarrassed invited dignitaries from across the world. The Senate President, Mr David Mark, in his response, threw the issue open with a larger number of senators, through vote, agreeing with Manzo that the issue be debated today. Mark directed that the motion be discussed today and all interested members should either support or co-sponsor, saying that “as for now, we don’t actually know what really happened.” Meanwhile, areas where the bombs exploded a few metres from the Eagle Square have been cordoned off while investigations are ongoing. In another development, regular policemen and officers of the State Security Service (SSS), were on Tuesday deployed in the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to forestall attacks, following a rumour that there were plans to bomb the two organisations. The Nigerian Tribune saw security officials and four vehicles at the entrance of the NNPC. The vehicles were two Toyota Hilux vans with registration number NPF 2133C marked ACCOS 48 and another one with registration number NPF 400. The third vehicle was a 505 saloon car, belonging to the anti-crime control unit with registration number NPF 952C and a pick-up van with registration number NPF 2880 SPY. The presence of the security officers did not create any scene, as traders who usually hawk their wares at the entrance of the corporation went about their normal business while the policemen merely sat in the vehicles with others standing by the vehicles without harassing anybody. Apart from the presence of the policemen, a first-time visitor to the corporation would not know that there was any threat to the NNPC building as the internal security officers of the NNPC allowed visitors free access to the main building after performing all formalities. Though the rumoured of bomb attack also affected the apex bank, the threat eventually turned out to be false, as everything was going on normally at the CBN corporate headquarters when the Nigerian Tribune visited the place on Tuesday. Officers of the in-house security outfit employed by the CBN were seen going about their normal duties while vehicles went in and came out unhindered. However, the management of the NNPC, on Tuesday, assured Nigerians and the international community that all was well at the corporation’s four-tower complex in Abuja, dispelling a rumoured plan to bomb it. In a swift reaction in Abuja, Dr Levi Ajuonuma, the General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of NNPC said, “there is no cause for alarm or panic.” “What we are doing is a routine safety and security check on vehicles and persons entering the towers. It is a safety drill,” he told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Ajuonuma said there was no need for any one to be scared of bomb attack at the towers. He said the security measures were in consonance with the health and safety core values of the oil and gas industry worldwide. The spokesman said: “The management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), as usual, conducted a security drill at its corporate headquarters and all its strategic business units in the country to ward off any possible security breach. “The top management of the corporation directed the security department to carry out a security drill, which is aimed at heightening security consciousness among the staff and all visitors to NNPC installations. “There is no cause for alarm. The drill is a regular exercise that the corporation carries out from time to time. “This is to assure our staff and all our visitors that we are on top of our security situation and to heighten our security alertness. “The NNPC Towers is well secured and there is no threat of bomb scare anywhere,” Ajuonuma added. He assured Nigerians of the corporation’s readiness to continue to sustain steady supply of petroleum products across the country. The group general manager said that the NNPC would continue to touch the lives of Nigerians in many positive ways. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/11764-terrorists-plan-to-bomb-nass-dep-clerk-bomb-scare-at-nnpc-policemen-sss-officials-deployed-no-cause-for-alarm-nnpc-senate-to-debate-explosions-today |
ABUJA BLASTS LATEST: SSS, EFCC trace $20m to politician’s account •How Dokpesi’s messages were traced -Source •Why IBB’s campaign organisation DG was released Written by Taiwo Adisa, Abuja Wednesday, 06 October 2010 DETAILS emerging from the Special Investigation Panel coordinating the investigations into the October 1 bomb blasts that rocked Abuja indicated, on Tuesday, that the government has traced the sum of $20 million to the account of a particular politician who is undergoing surveillance. Reports at the disposal of the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja indicated inputs from two major institutions of government, including the State Security Service (SSS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had confirmed the lodgment of the sum of $20 million in the account of a prominent politician, who is already being investigated in connection with the bomb blasts. It was gathered that the said sum was moved from different accounts in the last one month and that it finally landed in one of the company accounts of the politician in focus. Sources confirmed that the Financial Intelligence Unit of the EFCC had been on the trail of the said politician, who was said to have visited South Africa, two weeks ago. “The Financial Intelligence Unit has sufficient capacity to detect movement of funds. The said money moved to some states in the North in four different accounts and the same later landed in the company account of one suspected source of the bombs. It appears that the said funds are being deployed in the execution of the dastardly acts,” sources said on Tuesday. It was gathered that the SSS, which interrogated the Director-General of Ibrahim Babangida Campaign Organisation, Dr Raymond Dokpesi, on Monday, over the Abuja blasts had placed the media owner under close watch immediately he raised the alarm over his life. Dokpesi, three weeks ago, raised the alarm that his life was in danger and that some political figures were planning to kidnap him. Former military ruler, General Ibrahim Babangida, was to corroborate the claim a day later when he said that the threat to Dokpesi’s life was real. Sources, however, confirmed that the check on Dokpesi had been thorough and that the security operatives initially were looking for clues on those who allegedly wanted to kidnap him. Government sources told the Nigerian Tribune that the security agencies deployed SIM Card analysts to X-ray Dokpesi’s phones immediately he was linked to the nine persons arrested in respect of the bomb blasts. Said a source knowledgeable about the ongoing investigations: “There have been checks on him (Dokpesi) since he raised the alarm that he was being targeted for kidnap. There were reports that he was sighted overseas. There are equally some details about certain funds movement which had to do with him. But I can tell you the reports coming from the security outfits about him and other persons are solid. There is no politics to the investigations.” The source, however, said that the SSS decided to release Dokpesi and to allow him to appear for interrogation from his home so as not to give those who plan to politicise the ongoing investigations the opportunity to do so. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/11765-abuja-blasts-latest-sss-efcc-trace-20m-to-politicians-account-how-dokpesis-messages-were-traced-source-why-ibbs-campaign-organisation-dg-was-released |
tensor777:You couldn't be more wrong. I see Udezues words as a cry from deep within that is better listened to. It is the sort of cry that Nigeria ignores at her own peril; Udezue's generation (and they are millions) was born after the civil war, they have no first hand experience of the war. . . Yet the war is seared deep in their conciousness. That alone tells me that there is something terribly wrong with the Nigerian enterprise. a. What is wrong with having equity in our country? b. What is wrong with having a civil war memorial? c. What is wrong with including the unbiased accounts of the civil war in our primary and secondary school curriculums in ways that remind of the errors that led to the war, so that they are never repeated? d. What is wrong with having true federalism and ditching our unequal unitary system? In the past, it was mostly the Igbo's that cried about being marginalised. Today, it has extended to the Niger Delta and the Middle Belt. Even in areas where there are fewer cries of marginalisation, such as Yoruba land, the cries for true federalism are getting bolder and stronger. Something is fundamentally wrong and the whole Nigerian structure is creaking at the seams; lets put away our usual fixes of puny plasters and weak bandages, it is time to haul out the heavy machinery and fix the structure of the country. A stitch in time saves nine. |

Do you think it was for your far fetched reason that OBJ is involved, or do you think it is because they have always seen themselves as Nigerians who want nothing to do with Cameroon? Simple question. Pseudo-intellectualism always hurts the person wielding it and his enemies don't need to lift a finger to keep him down. |
