Hahaha, funny enough that is my course of study. The same reason you gave as to why it cannot be studied, is actually why it should be studied, It all depends on perception and how you make the vo see it.
Senatorkolade:
We should be mindful of the barrage of dossiers we submit for our study permit application. The more documents you submit is the more you give tbe VOs Chance to further scrutinize your application. Just submit only the relevant documents needed to support your claim. Imagine an applicant claiming a strong home tie by submitting land and house documents also ignorantly submitted house rent receipts. If you truly own a house, why the house rent receipts?
Look, know matter the volume of docs you submit, the impression the visa officers have about Nigeria is that most of our docunents are fake. The onus is now on you to logically present your case to the VO to convince him/her that you are a bonafide student not an immigrant.

Also some people believe that going for Masters or PhD is automatic ticket for their study permit. No, we have seen a refusal on Masters on this forum even with funding. It is not enough for you to go for a Master or PhD degree, you have to convince the VO how your proposed Masters degree will enhance your career, intellectual and entrepreneurial development. Since the VOs are aware about the unemployment situation in Nigeria where first class, Masters and even PhD holders find it difficult to get job, you need to convince the VO how your proposed course will make you a job creator when you return if you don't get the job. Even if you claim that you will return to your present work that have you an introduction letter, you will still need to show the value of the huge money you spend in Canada on your work. For example, Let us look at somebody going for "Boreal Ecosystem and Agricultural Science" at the Memorial University. It will be difficult to sell this course to the VO. Boreal Ecosystem cannot be found in Africa. It is found in subarctic region of the Northern Hemisphere which covers North Atlantic Canada and Europe. So, why do you want to study an ecosystem that is not in your continent?

I wish all TRV hopefuls a successful application. Amen

Access Bank, it was raised in USD and it just took 2 days, but it can be done in a day.

cashhip:
Which bank raised the draft for you? Was it raised in CAD or USD? How long did they take to raise the draft?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by famous17: 11:40pm On Jun 25, 2017
Haha, you think I didn't do that, although GTB story is for another day. I have closed all my accounts with them already. I don't need the letter anymore from them
Yomalicious:
If you have a gtb account, go through your account officer. You would get the letter with the clause provided it's a current account
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by famous17: 11:34pm On Jun 25, 2017
Well, of course the bank doesn't usually have an issue stating that the money is on deposit, it is the second clause that is the problem.

Secondly, most people don't have the Dom account with that amount of dollars deposited, if not the request letter issue won't have been raised by CIC at all for the applicant to submit.

I replied the poster having just our normal daily bank account type in mind.
CanadianNurse:
lol @famous the letter clearly stated the two clauses they want to see

1) they money is on deposit
2)they money can be exported under CBN forex policy conditions

These are the two things the bank must boldly state in that letter.... Most banks might be scared to add the second clause but they can add a disclaimer like "this letter is given in strict confidence and not a responsibility of the bank or its staff blah blah blah"

Or you can easily get the letter using a domiciliary account!
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by famous17: 7:26pm On Jun 25, 2017
That the money (CAD) needed for living expenses can be exported from Nigeria when needed. The bank said that they cannot write that because policy changes, that CBN decide to stop form A or any other forex transaction at any day and if they cannot provide me the CAD, I can use the letter against them.
cashhip:
Hi, what clause exactly do they want to see?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by famous17: 6:39pm On Jun 25, 2017
Hmmm that no 3 option is not as easy as it seems,

I was sent this letter twice,

The first time I choose that 3rd option and got a letter from bank that stated i the money available, the current balance and that I intend to use it for my studies. I also attached the CBN circular in it. I did this because if you read what CIC requested they did not ask the bank to include the clause that the money can be requested rather they want the letter from CBN. I did this and thought it was over but lo and behold, CIC wrote sent me another request letter and insisted that the bank should include the clause, they didn't ask for the CBN letter anymore.

I also thought this was not a problem and went to my bank to request for this letter that will include this clause but was shocked when none agreed to give me (GTB, Ecobank and Access bank)

I had no choice than to get a bank draft and pay my full year tuition. @ Ayoola you are lucky your bank gave you the letter.

I am actually happy that God was on my side and made CIC give the opportunity to get a second chance. I am sure that if it was not Him I would have been refused on grounds of insufficient fund.

That was why my timeline got up to 5 months but am grateful it ended in praise.

So at poster, if you have the money please get a draft
If you don't get the letter from the bank and insist they include the clause.
Ayoola03:
I think the option that is more easier to tackle is the 3rd option. You dont need to worry about anything, coz cic will not contact your bank to verify except the document u submitted isnt genuine or they smell somtyn fishy. all you need to do is to make sure some "keywords" are well stated in the written assurance from your bank. Those important statements is wht they want to here my dear bro, they just want your bank to assure them the money will be made available when needed. The following statement should be clearly stated on ur bank reference letter;
" living expenses for the upcoming academic year are on deposit and can be rexported abroad thru CBN forex control policy when the need arises" .you can as well back it up with a reference letter from your sponsor. My question is: I hope the amount you stated in your SOA for living expenses is still intact till now.
I also received same mail from cic wen my trv was still in dia custody lol, and that was how I tackled mine.
Other gurus in the house can also shed more light and I can still remember @canadian_nurse had same experience

Use 282 to estimate in Canadian dollar if you are paying with form A or better still use USD @360 Form A. Access Bank used about N280 per CAD for me.

vanod:
Good evening house,

For those who have paid school fees,

How do i calculate this to get the Naira equivalent, my 1 yr tuition is CAD13,400 am i to calculate by Canadian dollar N240x13,400 =3,216,00 or USD @360 CBN Rate. if by CBN rate how much should be the $13.400 to Naira. please help me out to avoid had i know.

Please, how long did it take them to approve your TRV after you responded to their additional request.

Edilanco:
The letter isn't just real, it's true.
I got one too from them I had to pay the estimated sum in my school account to avoid stories that touch and I got my approval letter may 16

Hello @ Markab

Can you please send me a PM please, I couldn't send you from my account as my limit has been exhausted for now, please. It is very urgent I get to you.

Markab:
Well, I can feel your pain. The one my wife used was issued at the big elephant bank. Though they admit funds can be exported under the cbn forex policies and the letter is issued based on trust and no staff of the bank or the bank itself should be held responsible for blah blah blah... A disclaimer as they call it. So try your luck

Thanks for responding, I really appreciate
MUN M.SC
I did upfront medicals and my undergraduate course was related
I had two sponsors, my Half sister and Mentor ( I had a balance of about 1.8m in my own personal account
I work presently and have my personal N.G.O too that works in areas related to my course of study
Although I have no travel history
Folaroyal:
Ohhhh... So sorry to hear that!.. We still have to thank God in all situations. At least you even got a response so quickly.. and you can equally begin to plan a refire!!
What if you got this same decision after waiting for 3 or 4 monthshuh... So thank God!
Meanwhile... you will only be able to get the reasons after you pick up your package.
Just start by relaying your credentials for scrutiny;
You applied Nov 7..paper app.
What sch and program/level?
What's your UG course?
Who is the sponsor?
Did you do or were you called for medicals?
Do you work at the moment?
What's your travel history?
Regards.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by famous17: 8:23pm On Dec 07, 2016
I am in a similar situation with you,
M.SC application, 25 years old
I have two sponsors (first sponsor who is my half sister with 7m balance, second sponsor my mentor who is based in the US plus I have 1.8m balance)
Am currently working and have an NGO
I don't know what the issue is
Pls I just PM you, so maybe we can work together to solve this.

Please house, how long will I wait to know the real reason for my refusal before I use GCMS service, at least let me see the first reason.

OK.

Reasons? I don't know yet. I only saw that my application was refused today on the cic website. No email or sms yet. I want to quickly use the GCMS service to get as much info as possible to aid a possible re-application.
Prog.: PhD
School: Queen's
Sponsor: Govt Agency. Scholarship amount covers fees and 15k upkeep for 3 years (now you know who)
Age: Very early 30s, single
Date: Nov 1, 2016.

Due to pressure from my supervisor, and unwillingness to renew my rent, I was in too much of a hurry to make it by January 31, 2017, so my application was a bit watery. I just put in the scholarship letter without adding my personal SOA or personal assets (or possibly a co-sponsor). I work in a govt agency (so pay not huge), added my pay slips and employment and regularisation letters and thought that would suffice for the ties to home country. No letter of intro to show that I would be granted study leave with pay with a bond (takes too long to get cos of bureaucracy).

I wager that the reasons will include finance, and purpose of visit. Hopefully nothing more 'serious' than those.
After going through here, I have come to see that it was not a very convincing application. I had too much confidence in my sponsorship and took then for granted a bit. My LOE was also a bit sketchy.

Please which GCMS service is cheap and reliable? (gcmsnow?)[/quote]

Good evening all,

I write with a heavy heart, am completely devastated!!!
I just got a mail to check my account I linked online to find that my application has been refused.

I applied Nov.7, my problem now is I don't know the reason for refusal yet. I only saw my application has been refused when I opened my CIC account because I did paper application.

Please how will I check the reason for my refusal, because the vfs has not even sent me an SMS for my passport maybe if the reason will be in the letter attached to the passport.

Pls I need your response ASAP, so that at least I know what to do next, please.

Good day all,

I linked my paper application online through the method I saw here, but it showed that I have not submitted any application or profile! So could not see any update on my application.
Please has anyone experienced this after linking your paper application online?

Can I cancel the linkage or will i be able to receive emails from CIC directly even if I linked my application!

I am really worried, please I need your response.

Thanks for your response, i actually thought about it but didn't want to shoot myself in the foot since am doing a research based course which qualifies for funding plus have 87% average from my GPA which is over 75% required to get funding offer from the Department even if he doesn't offer me his.
Mizbaby:
You could have told him you don't need funding. Sometimes availability of funding makes them prefer students who don't require funding. When you enter, by your second year it could change if you impress him enough.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by famous17: 12:05pm On Apr 19, 2016
Thanks for ur response, i didn't really bug him at all because he asked me to wait and will give me his decision April when i emailed him in October last year.
Since we are already in mid April, i just emailed him to have heads-up and was still told to wait again.

Thanks for ur advice, i will wait till he decides, its just that i don't want to wait in vain when i should be strategizing if i should be applyin to another school or contacting another supervisor.
Onyeoma3:
The way you sound seems to me like you're already bugging him with mails. Avoid that please to avoid marring your chances of getting his approval to work with him. Don't make yourself appear to be desperate before him. Portray yourself as having something special to bring to his table. Don't let emotion play a role here. This is business, not personal. Always have in mind that these guys want the best return on their investments.

And lastly, be patient... Nothing good comes easy.

Goodluck in your search bro...
