Religion / Re: As A Christian, What Are Those Troubling Questions Affecting Your Faith?? by Fari9482: 4:22am On Apr 12, 2015 |
The question I would ask is why did Christians enslave Africans, forcing them to reject their religion and faith to accept this one presented to us. |
Religion / Re: Why Kjv Is The Real Bible And Niv, Esv, Nlt And Rest Are Corrupted by Fari9482: 4:06am On Apr 12, 2015 |
elantraceey: I agree, why is the KJV held up above all others? Was the KJV the very first bible on the planet? If it was not the first bible then why is there a position that the KJV is the only bible, and the only so called "inspired bible." Who decided that the books we have today is the bible? We do know there are other books that are not included in the so called Cannon right? So what about those books? We can only say the Bible is the word of God based on the Bible, correct? Are there other books written that are equally held as being inspired that endorse that belief? Please I have a hard time with circular reasoning, so those who want to quote bible verses to me to show why it is the Word of God, is just circular reasoning. We really should not use circular reasoning, that is using the book to validate the same book. I know that is what is done however it does not really help in my view. What were people doing before this KJV? Is it the position that before the KJV there was no word of God? My poor ancestors that never read, and never read English are doomed I suppose. They did not have a bible. |
Religion / Re: Where Is The Tree Of Life Or The Tree Of Good And Evil by Fari9482: 3:59am On Apr 12, 2015 |
melvin2010: Interesting. You stated that Adam and Eve were supposed to cultivate it. What would that mean? Would cultivate it not also mean that you would need to touch the tree? So when Even supposedly said to the serpent that "we should not even touch it," what did she mean then? The same concept was taught in Egypt too. The tried died? Do you have any verse of sources for that? |

Scholar8200: That quote from Jeremiah is fascinating to me because many people that quote it for some reason never tell you who or what particular people that New Covenant would be made with. So who did that Prophet Jeremiah say that New Covenant would be made with? |
Religion / Re: Great Bible Contradictions by Fari9482: 9:22pm On Apr 10, 2015 |
OpraMenu: You answered my question I asked one question in my statement which was this ."Are there any sources outside the bible validating it? I doubt it." You did not say "yes there are sources outside the bible and then site the sources, neither did you say "no there are no sources outside the bible. That for me is answering a question. Making a statement saying that I should not be worldly was not addressing the question at all. |

TheBlue5: It is quite amazing to me that when we look out into space that "we" believe that in the vast universe we are the only inhabitants? Is that because the bible does not allow for that? Is that because any other being other than a human has to be a demon or an angel? Hmmmm 1 Like |
Religion / Re: Great Bible Contradictions by Fari9482: 2:01am On Apr 10, 2015 |
OpraMenu: Again I am new here and I must be confused by how people read and comprehend what is stated. I quoted the bible in my rebuttal. Do you have a rebuttal to what the bible stated or is this just a typical response here? That is to not address what someone says, but to make a general sweeping statement. For those of us that who are still on the planet and not in some "heavenly realm," but still using a computer, what was worldly about what I said? Please be specific citing what I said and after defining what "worldly" means, explain what was inaccurate about it? This is where the religious mindset gets odd to me. Heavenly. Define the term heavenly and how does that refute what I stated the Bible said? Please be specific and not use generalized statements. It is not edifying. Thanks |

There were commandments like that in Egypt. The 42 confessions. Not sure that they were new at all. |
Religion / Re: What Does The Bible Say About Jewelries (earrings, necklace, Ring Etc.) by Fari9482: 3:22am On Apr 09, 2015 |
I am no scholar but I hope I can add something worth looking at. The Old Testament is full of men and women wearing jewelry. The Tabernacle and it's furnishings were made and over laid with gold. The High Priest wore gold. So why is that religions, Christianity for one, think that wearing jewelry is a sin? I was raised in this kind of mindset. People could wear a wedding ring though. So people went overboard with that one. Huge diamonds as long as it was just on that one finger. Don't you dare put a ring on any other finger right, because that is a sin. You could wear a watch, so no objection in getting Rolex right. However don't you dare put an earring in your ear, or wear a bracelet right because that was a sin. It is all legalism. This is just like that Rabbis, they put "fences up." This means that the practice in itself is not a sin, but "it could lead to sin" so we are going to make it a law, (implied) that is it a sin. People will use all kinds of bible verses particularly in the New Testament to show how sinful it is to wear jewelry. They will quote Paul who talked about modesty, and stretch it to the point where you cannot wear jewelry. I remember asking a minster, about "braided hair." Well he got himself in a tail spin, because his understanding was you cannot braid your hair. Many cultures braid their hair. So that verse is going to exclude that cultural practice. Maybe it was right that they separate, because they did not have the same mindset, and that kind of disagreement could lead to problems. The point in all this is this. In my view we should teach the big picture. One can look modest and dare I say Godly wearing jewelry. We can be proud and haughty even if we go the extremes like some sects do, like the Amish who will not wear a button because it is "proud." Man made rules and religion. None of this has anything to do with being Spiritual. There is a big difference between being Religious and being Spiritual in my view |

Hi I wanted to respond to the statement where we were told that when God speaks to someone, only the person he speaks to hears. In the New Testament, when Jesus was transfigured. Were not his disciples there and heard the voice from heaven saying "this is my beloved son?" If one says that God spoke to them, then one can either accept that or reject it. It is a futile exercise in my view trying to disprove to that person that it did not occur. With regards to the alleged contradictions in the Bible. I would have to say there are many things in the book are problematic at least to me. I think there is a fear to admit that because if one admits that, then one is saying that it is not the inspired word. So again, I think it is a futile endeavor trying to get a person who believes it is the inspired word to admit to that. You then have to use circular reasoning, and say "the bible says it is inspired." You will then get people quoting bible verses that say the book is inspired. Are there any sources outside the bible validating it? I doubt it. |
