“P-Square finally release the long awaited video to arguably the biggest song off their recent album, “Collabo”. Nothing short of an archetypical P-Square video, the flick which also features Don Jazzy, is a classy pictorial with a brief comic storyline about it. Shot in SA on different beautiful and crisp scenes, the Clarence Peters directed video is nothing but top notch.” http://www.forumspotz.net/video-p-square-ft-don-jazzy-collabo-download/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUvF7yj531A |

Di’Ja, who has lived in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, the United States and Canada, started singing in 2008 back in Canada when she released her first song, ‘Rock Steady’ which was nominated for Best Urban/R&B Single at the 2009 Canadian Radio Music Awards. The singer recently shared photos of her parents on Instagram, with her mum from from Kaduna State in Northern Nigeria while her dad is from Sierra Leone, a country that shares a lot with Nigeria in terms of heritage and history relating to the Slave Trade era. https://www.forumspotz.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/leaflet.jpg A helicopter hovered the skies of Adamawa on Thursday, dropping flyers residents say may have emanated from a breakaway faction of Boko Haram, The leaflets contain renunciation of the sect and apology messages to the people. It is the second time in two weeks the Boko Haram sect has distributed flyers. The first batch warned northerners not to go to the polls. The message showed spellings and pronunciations that appeared Nigerien or Chadian and not Nigerian Hausa. Below is translation of the message. “We started this jihad of Ahlis sunna lidda awati together as one. We sleep together, we eat and drink together. We studied the Holy Quran and prayed together in the early days of this Jihad. Those of us that are doing the work of God for the past 5yrs today. “We have to realize today that we are being used for selfish and corrupt reasons. We have reached a situation whereby our leaders are enjoying and we are suffering in the name of jihad. “The Holy Quran in 8;61 has told us that the religion of islam of peace. Again the Holy Quran has been very clear on the rules of jihad in 2;190. And again in 6;151 that no one should kill and that life is sacred and it belongs to God. “Though we started good (in honor) with preaching and teaching rules of Islam. We have woken up today to burn villages and kill those who have done nothing to us especially Christians without any just cause. “We have sent people away from their homes and villages. And we have killed Muslims even though the Quran has forbidden so in 4;-29-30. All the properties we found in those villages and towns were parked and sold on the streets of Ndjamena Chad, Bosso Niger, and Fotokol Cameroon. “And the proceed went to their pockets calling themselves our leaders. even though its supposed to be for our jihad. And calling for more in destroying our country for no reason”. http://www.forumspotz.net/apologetic-boko-haram-leaflets-dropped-from-helicopter-in-adamawa-state/ http://dailypost.ng/2015/02/21/helicopter-drops-apologetic-boko-haram-leaflets-adamawa-image/ |

Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, has criticised the two frontline candidates in the March 28 presidential election, President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party and Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) of the All Progressives Congress. Soyinka, in an interview with the BBC on Monday, insisted that the political parties should have come up with far better options than the two leading candidates. He described President Jonathan, who is running for a second term and the opposition leader, Buhari, as “problematic candidates.” “There is a huge albatross hanging [around] the necks of the two main candidates. I can understand the dilemma which many voters have,” Soyinka said. He added that “one contender is troubled by the present, the other by the past.” Soyinka also decried the lack of fair play in the election, saying the spirit of “let’s have a fair war” was not yet deep enough. He faulted Jonathan for the failure to rescue the more than 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok in April 2014. “What happened was a clear failure of leadership – a slow reaction, an inadequate reaction and response,” Soyinka told the BBC. He stressed that while responsibility for the Boko Haram crisis rested with President Jonathan, the government could not be held solely responsible for the entire jihadist problem as it began under previous governments. “Buhari and his partner, the late Gen. Tunde Idiagbon, after (former military head of state) Sani Abacha, I think they represented the most brutal face of military dictatorship. There is no question about that,” Soyinka said. “But the environment changes, circumstances change and… I look at the possibility of a genuine internal transformation in some individuals. I’ve been disappointed before and we must always be ready to be disappointed again,” he added. Soyinka, however, said Nigerians should be ready to “go back to the trenches stand up against misrule from whoever wins the election. “Nigerians should be prepared to deal with any new betrayal by any ruler with the same passion and commitment…. as they did with the late Sani Abacha because we cannot continue this cycle of repetitious evil and irresponsibility.” On what to do to counter the Boko Haram sect, whose activities was cited for the postponement of the election, Soyinka called for “an aerial bombardment with weapons of the mind” in addition to the military offensive. “All kinds of propaganda leaflets should have been raining in those areas because not all members of Boko Haram are convinced. They need to know there is an exit and the state will take care of them. Then the waverers’ minds have to be reinforced on the positive side – on the side of humanity. “The kind of propaganda being used now between the political parties, just a fraction of that should have gone into attacking Boko Haram,” he added. Asked whether he believed the nation could be dismembered in the next 10 years, he said, “I doubt it very much. The threats of dismemberment have been going on so long that one of these days there is going to be a wish fulfilled. “The idea of either dismembering at the cost of human lives, as the Boko Haram people are trying to do with their caliphate delusions or to force people to stay together as happened in the case of the [1967-1970] Biafra war, doesn’t make sense, it’s an abuse of intelligence. “Arrangements can be made in which people stick together under protocols of association which allow some kind of autonomy for certain issues and other cases centralised policies,” he said. Soyinka also noted that the huge amount being expended on campaigns would inevitably lead to broken electoral promises. “What does this make of the incoming government? This money came in from somewhere. It means such candidates are going to owe, they are obliged to interests which are not necessarily in the best interests of the nation. “So, a lot of the electorate will be disappointed at the failure – the reneging on electoral promises – because there may not be funds for the fulfilment of those promises,” he said. http://www.punchng.com/news/jonathan-buhari-are-problematic-candidates-says-soyinka/ http://www.forumspotz.net/jonathan-buhari-problematic-candidates-soyinka/ |

While there has been a lot of articles being published since the postponement of Nigeria’s general elections from Feb. 14th, here’s one that we think has a headline that’s not so proper. Al-Jazeera published an article yesterday 10th February that takes shot at the present Goodluck Jonathan led administration in their opinion section titled ‘Badluck Jonathan’. The article was written by Solomon Dersso and emphasizes on the Nigerian government using security to trump on democracy, you can read the full article http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2015/02/badluck-jonathan-150210053307570.html share your thoughts. On a bed at the female ward of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital lay a 15-year-old girl in an evidently bad state. Her face and head were bandaged, leaving slits through which only a bruised eye and swollen lips were visible. On her body were clearer signs of trauma, with burns running from her neck down to the lower parts of her body. Around her bed wafted a foul smell, which a nurse who came to attend to her attributed to a septic wound in the girl’s skull. A nurse who did not want to be named because she was not authorised to speak to the press told the icirnigeria.org that a group of people from the biggest internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Maiduguri dumped Lami (the surnames of all victims in this report are withheld to protect them) at the hospital. “We have many of them. They’d been either raped in the camp or sold by those that should be protecting them in the camps,” the nurse said. Approached by the reporter, Lami tried to speak, but her voice was muffled to a whisper as pains coursed through her body. She said her parents were killed by Boko Haram insurgents in her village and she managed to reach Maiduguri, capital of Borno State, in an open truck that dropped people off at a camp for displaced persons. In the course of moving from one camp to the other, she was separated from her younger brother. “I do not know where he is,” she said through muffled sobs. Lami said some government officials came to the camp and took many young girls away and later sold them as slaves. She ended up in the house of one Alhaji Aliyu, whose brother and wife abused her. While Aliyu’s brother repeatedly raped her, his wife weighed in with physical abuse. “One day, some people came to the camp and said that they were taking us to a better place. That was how I got to Alhaji Aliyu’s house and it was there, every day, his brother forcibly slept with me. “After that, he would beat me and one of Alhaji’s wifes too would always beat me. One day she attacked me with a knife. That was how I got the wound in my skull, In Gombe, 16-year-old Laraba told the icirnigeria.org that an official of the state emergency relief agency named Ibrahim took her from the camp where she was to his home on the pretext that she would be helping the wife with household chores. “I was happy leaving the camp, but when we got to his house, there was no wife. He raped me continuously for three nights, locked me inside his house for days and threatened me.” She continued: “I managed to escape and came back to the camp. I got pregnant. An old woman we call ‘Kaka’, gave me some leaves. I was bleeding for almost two weeks and smelling.” She said she is currently feeling better and has overcome the ordeal. But she had to suffer in silence, as she could not tell anyone because she thought nobody would believe her and for fear of being sent away from the camp. “I am not the only one this has happened to and I am sure Ibrahim, the health worker, is not the only one doing this type of thing,” she said. Thirty-two-year-old Binta caught our reporter’s attention as she muttered to herself, looking like a traumatised person. The tale she told was shocking and distressing. Sadly, no one believes her or is willing to do anything about it. “After the attack in Mubi, I fled with my one-year-old child. From the first camp we were, a secondary school, I was told a family in Yola was coming to take us. They came to pick me and my baby. When I saw them I was suspicious, but what could I do, without anyone to help? I put my baby in the car, and they sped away,” she said resignedly. Binta is realistic to know that she might never see her baby again but her problem is what to tell her husband from whom she was separated in the aftermath of the attack on Mubi. “I have lost all hope of ever seeing my baby again. I do not know whether my husband is alive or not. A family member says he was among those who ran to Cameroun. “If he finds me tomorrow, what do I tell him about our baby?” she wondered. Kingsley Ogar, a member of staff of an international donor agency, who did not want his organisation named, confirmed that child trafficking is rife in the IDP camps. “We had a case in Gombe where a group of persons came from the South, Lagos or Ibadan, we can’t be so sure, paid some people and took away children from the camp. “We went to deliver relief items in this particular IDP camp and took a census so that we could come back the following day, which we did, only to realise that over a dozen of them were missing. They were mostly young children between the ages of 5 and 15. “Upon investigation, we discovered that some ‘lords’ in the camp were colluding with the Lagos people to sell the kids. “We reported to the police (Gombe State command), but we do not know whether they have done anything,” he said. Our reporter visited the camp posing as an official of a church that takes care of children and made startling discoveries. An official in the camp named Raila, who wore the reflective vest of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), told the reporter to wait while she went into a makeshift office. There, she spoke with a male colleague, whom she said was an official of NEMA.She returned to announce: “You will pay N50,000 for each child and you can only go with three if you want them today, Without any attempt at verifying the reporter’s identity and in less than 30 minutes, three children were ready to be sold, possibly never to return to their roots. http://www.forumspotz.net/shocking-victims-boko-haram-raped-sold-slaves-displaced-persons-camps/ http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/grim-tales-of-rape-child-trafficking-in-displaced-persons-camps-revealed/201560/ |

Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Sunday, expressed disappointment at the rescheduling of the general elections from Feb. 14 to March 28 and April 11, 2015 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He told journalists after collecting his Permanent Voter Card (PVC) at his ward in Surulere Local Government Area, that the change in date for the elections lacked merit. Fashola said the claim by the security agencies that they could not guarantee security for the elections as initially scheduled, illustrated the lack of preparedness for the polls on the part of the election management body. While describing the rescheduling as “a low point in governance,” the governor said the shift was capable of undermining the nation’s democracy and investment. “I think Nigerians must be disappointed by the postponement of the polls from February to March because it seems as if INEC was ambushed to take that decision. The shift will have consequences for us as a nation; the credibility of our governance is regrettably diminished. I do not know of any serious democracy that has set election dates then change them. I think when a country sets a process in motion like this,it ought to know that there would be political and economic consequences. Investors watch what is going on. It is really disappointing and when you hear the Federal Government saying they cannot guarantee security, it is more disappointing. Security is the primary responsibility of the government and whether the nation holds election or not it is the duty of government to provide security. If countries like Afghanistan and Syria where there is war and internal conflicts still had elections, I do not see why we can’t. Again, we had elections in 2011 and some of these terror acts had started in 2010.So where was the ability to guarantee security then ? ” he said. Fashola, however, appealed to Nigerians to remain calm over the development, stressing the need for them to shun anything that could breach the peace. He noted that the postponement of the polls from Febuary to March is only a matter of time, saying that eligible voters will eventually exercise their franchise. The governor however said that he was glad to collect his PVC at last and enjoined residents who had not collected theirs to do so. He appealed to INEC to extend the PVC collection deadline to enable more Nigerians pick up their voter cards. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor had earlier addressed a crowd of Arewa APC supporters at the Tafawa Balewa Square, where he urged them to eschew violence. He said no matter how much they were provoked by supporters of the other political parties, they should stay out of trouble. Fashola urged members to step up campaigns to ensure victory for the party. NAN reports that the state’s APC governorship aspirant, Akinwunmi Ambode, and the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Shade Tinubu-Ojo were among the dignitaries that attended the rally.
