Well the story has so much loopholes and I'm gonna state with the following points 1. You gave this dude a space without knowing his full name, his address or some kind of bio data of the guy before giving out a space for him to display his wares? Who does that these days? what if the guy is a spy or a cover up criminal?2. How would this dude have access to your handbag? and I bet that she can't put her ATM Cards inside her bag probably must have been inside her wallet which was inside her bag (And how can this dude have a whole lot of time to scrutinise her bag and her wallet to get her ATM cards) 3. You can't withdraw money without knowing the owner's PIN, except the guy has been running an errand for her with the card or she's been announcing her ATM PIN when she walks past his spot ![]() 4. How come she has this guy's selfie with the same shirt on the Bank's CCTV? Abi ATM Don get selfie Camera? Probably the guy is one of her BBM contacts or Whatsapp who knows? ![]() Well we need to hear from the guy's side too ![]() |

EgunMogaji:why did OP lament about lack of technical hands-on instruction The course is handled by experienced seafarers and seasoned lecturers, I am baffled that the OP lamented on this issue, 85% of Nigerians working onboard ships in our coastal water were trained at Maritime Academy of Nigeria, and the industry is faring very well |
Emexix:From your post earlier.. You mentioned "Associates in Nautical Science" so my defence was based on your post bro.. My captain told me openly that I can't be in the chart room, or know how to use the sextant, or have an idea of the Gmdss Well, I think you didn't have a good relationship with your captain, Because a captain is willing to teach his crew on how to plot a chat, operate deck machinery, and other gadgets at the bridge. You need to have a good interpersonal relationship with your superior and also you must be eagar to learn. The ABs are allowed to operate almost all the equipment onboard, Even when I was working on an ASD Tug, The AB are responsible in manoeuvring the boat during their night duty alone without any supervision. There's nothing practical in Associates in Nautical Science because you've seen all the equipment onboard and know how it works, Or do you call tieing of knots is practical? If yes, I'm sorry you don't have any business doing Associates in Nautical Science if you cannot tie all the necessary knots applicable onboard a ship Moreover, I am not defending MAN, Oron because of its lack of infrastructure, I am only pointing out some stuffs to let the public know that the institution is not bad as painted by some of nairalanders here on this thread. Last two years, MAN Oron has installed it's Simulators but I don't know why it has not been put to use yet though some ex-cadets were employed as lab technologist to kick start it's usage for GMDSS and other simulator oriented programmes so do u also claim that engine components and parts should be drawn on the board since it's a pure theoretical course? I want to ask you if CoC class is also a practical class? If you can answer this question correctly, then i'll definitely accept defeat |
EgunMogaji:Associates in Nautical Science is a refresher course for deck ratings and not where you are taught practically, because the class is filled with people with more than 4 years experience onboard a ship. Even in UK, CoC refresher courses involves Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanism, Electrotechnology... and core requirements for admission is your sea experience of 12-36 months (For engine Cadets), hence no practical is taught whilst in school because it's assumed you have the experience and knowledge while serving onboard, and this is practised anywhere in all maritime institutions in the world. Except the OP is referring to Diploma in Nautical science, which I know that the school in recent years has really depreciated without a standard training vessel, Simulators and Comfortable accommodation for cadets, which I hope the present government will do something about it Associates in Nautical Science is not a course that involves practicals as the OP claims, it's purely a theoretical and classroom course Just like Certificate of Competency courses is for Masters, Chief Mate, OOW therefore Associates in nautical science is for deck ratings |
holmez:Well I'm not here to defend the Institution, but last time I checked the school has churned out thousands of big shots in oil & gas companies, maritime industry, competent captains and engineers, and has one of the highest number of students who has travelled far and wide... You really don't have to follow the multitude cos the oil and gas industry is lucrative, hence whilst Studying in MAN, Oron they loose their focus and purpose of their stay in the school. Though recent years the school has depreciated from its standard due to poor funding and mismanagement of funds, but I can authoritatively tell you that I've benefitted so much from the school, the school has made me who I am today, I have hands on experience on different types of diesel engines, and ancillaries.. The school is not a nonsense school and has never been, it's a disciplined institution where you can make it life if only you have a purpose in life. And please don't sound so pained like an ex cadet who was expelled for poor academic or behavioural reasons who finds any opportunity to blackmail the institution. During ma time as a cadet, we had comfortable cabins, Great experienced seafarers as lecturers, I don't know for now because the school has undergone a lot of power tussle between the indigenes for the post of rector in the school, which has really slowed down the rate of development. What we can do as Nigerians is to take up this issue to the federal ministry of transport and make them to see the institution as their core responsibility |
EgunMogaji:The Op applied for an associates in nautical science, This course is not solely carried out by the academic management of the school, it is run in collaboration with NIMASA, it's a short course for ratings who wants to reach the rank of an officership onboard a ship. So definitely i'll strongly disagree with the "bolded" point of yours, cos before applying for an associates in nautical science it means you must have acquired more than 36 months of sea experience as a rating onboard a ship, and a proof of your experience is recorded in your discharge booklet (looks like a passport) which is endorsed by the shipping master in NIMASA. |
Emexix:Nigerian CoC is very much accepted and preferred by shipping companies in Nigeria, Those with foreign tickets are probably people who were trained by Nlng from Maritime academy or indigenes of the oil rich Niger delta region (Just like the Nimasa scholarship where Nigerians where sent abroad to study) If you are still working onboard till now and ur vessels do come to jetty to berth like the Onne port terminal, You'll definitely know NIMASA officials are doing their best to checkmate crew with foreign coc, and most of Nigerian with foreign cocs are fake like the Belize, Panama, Vanatau coc which Nimasa doesn't recognise or endorse Moreover, why some companies do not accept Nigerian cocs in some of their vessels might be the vessel is on bareboat charter, And this means the vessel will be flying a foreign flag, and If your country does not have an article agreement with the flag of the vessel, definitely you can't work onboard such ship and some Nigerians seafarers have NCV (Near coastal voyage) certificate which automatically disqualify them from working on a vessel in Nigeria flying a foreign flag except you have CoC unlimited which must be endorsed by the flag state before working... hence the need for employing expatriates. And fortunately, the company I'm presently working is a fully indigenous company and all the crew onboard are Nigerians with Nigerian coc from the Master to the Third Engineer..and our boat happens to be the best boat presently at Total for 6 years straight Zero downtime (What a feat!!!) You might be asking which vessel? The name is MV Osayame and also the another best vessel in ExxonMobil Water is MV Osarague (Varada Queen) all Nigerian crew (No white man) |
Emexix:Well I'll proudly disagree on the bolded part.... I think you should look closely today in Nigeria coastal waters that Nigerians are handling almost all the vessels offshore except for Multinational companies like Seatruck which an average Nigerian man would cling to a post of a chief officer and second engineer) Nigerians are competent to handle AHTS, tug, Security Patrol boat (Likes of SVS boats) Mind you... Due to strict regulations on local content when bidding for contract, The locals are considered first before the expatriates... But some companies are still bypassing to hire expatriates to carry on some jobs which I know a lot of Nigerians can handle perfectly. |
Keneking:1. CCTV camera? U think those Camera works in government parastatal like NBC? When they are also complaining of fuel to power on their generating set? Abi na solar CCTV 2. Dispatch in tray/ Out Tray... You think letter of such "weight" and authority goes through that process? It's a confidential letter from "Oga" at top 3. Visitor's Register? This is laughable lol... A personnel (probably the PA) from the ministry of Information with a letter from Lai Mohammed should sign the visitors register? No Bro cos at the moment he/she delivered the letter he/she was seen as demi-god at the NBC's vicinity 4. Check Secretary 1 & 2? Who gives such confidential letter to front desk officers or secretary? The letter goes straight to the recipient (Cos Lai Mohammed would have buzzed the NBC oga that a letter is on its way to his/her desk) 5. PA inherited from Labaran Maku? Lol... All PDP and past government stooges were all flushed out, Only Loyalist to the minister and the present government are presently in the system. 6. Forensic detectives on top small letter? na letter bomb? If at all they are contracted for the forensic job, trust me the cost of the service will be more than the total cost of loan Lai Mohammed requested from NBC (Is it worth it?)7. Sack the messenger? How do you prove he/she leaked the letter? Is he/she not happy about his/her job? (Not forgetting over 10 million Nigerians are unemployed) 8. What if na the shadow of a transgender being like Ms Sahara? ![]() 9. Spiritual warfare? On top leaked letter? Who the letter Don kill? ![]() 10. Who the letter Don epp? ![]() Listening to Ycee - Su mi - An amazing song without a postage Stamp ![]() |

Dear Nairalanders.... don't take this news seriously cos right now I'm in Idaho Field, the leakage has nothing to do with the NDA, the current oil leakage was caused by a drilling rig at the field... Our vessel was pulled out from BOP field to complement other vessels (For FiFi watch) in the field to help contain the oil spillage...as at now extensive work is going on now. Moreover, even though the Oil field is an open field, there are two to three security boats patrolling the field, it's a tough task for NDA to damage any of the lines in the field (These lines are buried deep down the sea bed) ExxonMobil has not shut down any operations... Crude oil lifting is ongoing in other ExxonMobil fields like Yoho, BOP, Ekpe, USAN etc But Naija media can report things sha ![]() |
