Akata go dey there face oyibo with their madness. Huh? Akata is a word, sometimes used pejoratively for African Americans. Both words are used to refer to the same people. |

Tokotaya: It's scary the kind of selfish, rude, loud and opinionated people the world is raising these days. Anyone who corrects them is narcissistic. They can insult anyone, but don't want anyone to talk to them. You couldn’t see that the daughter kept politely pleading and asking so she could leave? She kept nicely asking and explaining that she needed to leave this abusive situation. And the mother kept forcibly blocking the door, not allowing her to pass. The daughter is 25 for goodness sake, she’s not a child. She was just trying to leave a very abusive situation, and get her and her baby out of that trauma. The mother was being aggressive blocking her not allowing her to leave. |

khiaa: 1. Dear heart please don't listen to that clown Tariq Nasheed, that's not even his real name. He is one of the biggest hypocrites on black YouTube.
He is always pretending to be pro black and anti white but his mother inlaw is white and she lives with him and he provides for her. He is a hustler and an ex-pimpp. He will say anything to get views. He goes with the status quo, whatever is trending with black people he will jump on the bandwagon and agree for cash
The one good thing that I can say about him is he produces some very educational documentaries about African American history. If you get the chance please check them out.
2. I would love to discuss the Transatlantic Slave Trade with you in the near future because I have so much to say about that and the African Americans experience in this God forsaken country. Man, I really miss khia, khiaw. Khiaa please come back to Nairaland if you see this. We would love to have you back. |

Smile4mee01: I have been abroad for a while now and i am curious to know why some of our ladies decline dating or marrying fellow Nigerians in the diaspora. I have tried to date a few any they are often quick to assume i am after them for their papers while i just prefer my own, someone who understands my culture and where i have come from. Even when i try to date the ones that don't have paper, regular work visa holders like me. They seem to want to be with the guys that have papers.
Also, when i am old, i would like to return to Nigeria. Marrying outside would make that transition very difficult.
I study other races, Immigrant groups from India and Asia. they work together well, and don't have these difficulty.
Should i give up on being with a Nigerian or keep trying ?
Regards. Which country are you in? |

Everyone accepts and embraces her as a Nigerian. No knock on the girl at all, I like her a lot, but she didn’t even identify or realize anything about Nigeria until a few years ago during the pandemic.
You have 1st generational Nigerian Americans that have a genuine love and strong affinity for Nigeria since their youth, and yet some Nigerians reject and snub them and tell them not to call themselves Nigerian. You’ll see here on Nairaland posts when you have a Nigerian American.
Some Oyinbos and whites(not this girl) will be determined to misunderstand and reject and be racist towards Nigerians, yet Nigerians warmly jump accept and embrace them always. Yet people that love you for who you are, you snub them. People that love you for who you are, you don’t have to act American for us, we love you who you are, yet you treat Nigerian Americans that way….smh |

Upright2020: 2000s of course, Nigerians were innocent Soul that time, we just get relief from the horrible persecution of military regime & needed a democracy that people fight and die for. this evil man was brought forward by same military men.
He has opportunity to laid a very good foundation, we were all innocent Soul then and know nothing, only for OBJ to behave like slowpoke, most of what's happening in the country by our politicians, he started and introduce them.
Even by now every region would have be governed by their fovourate party, he brought rigging of election using federal power to make sure the ruling party control all the state in the country, did same to southwest and when Lagos State slip from his hand, he withhold the allocation of the state, so many evil things that now politicians now built upon Yea true your right you have a point, although I always thought most of our problems to our foundation started or started to spoil real badly during the Babangida regime in the 1980’s and early 90’s |

Though he was not people's choice, and he bastardized lots of things and laid a foundation of corruption, impunity and authoritarian, man is the founder of rotten country we have today Sir, when you say Obasanjo is the inventor of Nigeria’s problem and that he didn’t lay a good foundation. Are you referring to when he was Head of State in the 1970’s or when he was president in the 2000’s? |

This thread is misleading. The southeast and the South in general is much more densely population than the north. So there are more people per square mile in the south especially southeast than there are in the north. So in turn there are more poor people per square mile since there’s more people in general per square mile. The southeast is the most densely populated region in the country. |

SeriouslySense: When you say Unity, what brings unity, if not common goals, or genuine interest in building up each other and understanding each other.
Without the basics, unity remains elusive.
I always observe this hurried quest for unity, in face of danger or maybe certain challenges, although the people dont even understand themselves, how can iron cling with clay. Anyway regardless of some of the issues, Black Americans are still our brothers and sisters. We’re still and always will be one family. One love |

1Sharon: Both groups are guilty of looking down on each other
I'm not talking about other kinds of slavery, I'm talking about chatell slavery that is relevant to AAs.
If you want to give excuses, will you allow white people to give theirs too? What we need is unity. When Oyinbo and other races poo on Nigerians, often times some Nigerians will be defending the other race. The disrespect and injustice from Black Americans is so glaring for all to see. How can you be defending them against your own comrades even when they’re clearly in the wrong? Other races even when their comrades are clearly wrong, will still defend them. Us even when we are right, our own won’t defend us. It’s why Chinese and Indians mistreat us in Nigeria, because they can get away with it and our people don’t care about our own justice |

SeriouslySense: For instance, some may be having a bad time, and are just looking for where to express this depression, and if you chat with them on social media, on such topics, they already have their preconception, just like us, they are not there to listen, but to make a point. If you have time, then you can argue and they just get emotional and then perhaps block you, this helps in empowering them temporarily, but you may have a genuine concern, and all you used your time for, was increasing your blood pressure.
Its like a viscous cycle.
If you were not there to make a point, but to understand their motivation and where they are coming from, you will see that they want reparations, they want a country of their own in Africa, or a land to call own, so it means they want to have a place in Africa also, perhaps in the east or North.
I think reparation is realistic and is very reasonable to some extent to recognize the inhumanity they endured, if i were in their shoes, i would want the same, i do not concern myself with whether they are hardworking or lazy. Just from historic perspective they deserve apology from US also.
For the other demand about a land in Africa to call their own, i don't know if that is possible, i think they has a chance with Liberia, and I think the country seems to be okay now, because my impression about a Liberian, is that they are humble and have humanity in them, and very smart also. But where else can they get land in Africa, i don't know everywhere is occupied Ok true true. But still doesn’t give them the right to be pooing on us and dragging us in the mud in the their quest for reperations and land in Africa. If we had sensible leaders and a unified populace, nobody would dare disrespect us like this. But you have been bringing up some great points. |

We just have to learn to forgive and treat everyone well. That’s some real good wisdom. Can you go into a bit more detail on avoiding them, and reacting increases the flames. |

1Sharon: Oh you mean the usual beef between both groups? The beef goes both ways abeg Both groups are guilty.
Remember that Africans are the reason AAs exist. Both groups are guilty, but one side(their side) is much worse. Africans are not the first group to trade slaves. Slavery and the trading of slaves has been going on since the beginning of human history. Africans didn’t know how brutal slavery was like in America, as it was like no other type of slavery. Plus slave trade doesn’t give an excuse to persecute another group 500 years later. Because they always give excuses and lies why the persecute Nigerians. Their favorite one is “it’s the white man.” It’s always the white man’s fault. |

Yea true, jealousy is really fueling their hate against us. Nigerians in America are successful and seen as a threat. Well, sometimes we’re victims of our own success sha. |
