No, it doesn't apply to Ontario. My spouse and I still have our Nig licences.

Newmum0615:
I guess this will not apply to Ontario. Abi?
Travel / Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Favoredme: 2:34am On Aug 11, 2018
No, they will not. I renewed mine but it wasn't ready before I left Nigeria. When I went for my knowledge test, the temporary licence was not accepted even with my FRSC authenticity letter, so I had to wait until my renewed one was collected on my behalf and sent down to me.

Ifywhyteman:
Another question please, my drivers licence expires this month, will the Canadian agency responsible for over seeing driving and licencing over there accept the computer printout of renewal and the expired licence pending when the new one will be sent over to one when it is ready? Thanks

Our Landing Story...

We (myself, hubby and 3 energetic kids) booked our flight with Ethiopian Airlines based on the positive reviews gotten from this page and we left Nigeria on Wednesday last week. I'm glad we did because the flight was smooth, the food was plenty but bland and the in-flight entertainment was enough to distract the kids during the over 21 hrs flight.

Our bags were not searched in Nigeria; we checked in all bags including foodstuff and had only few hand luggage. We split our funds between both of us, so we didn't have to declare excess at MMA.

We arrived Toronto on a Thursday so we were able to get our SIN at the airport. The Immigration guy just stamped our COPR, and declaration card without asking questions. Our POF was not requested for, even though we indicated we had excess over 10,000CAD. Maybe the jumping around of our kids made them release us early.

After Immigration and Service Canada where we got our SIN, we headed to the baggage claim to pick out bags, changed a few USD to CAD at the BDC nearby(the rate there is poor, so we just changed about 100 for taxi).

We walked out (no one stopped us for a search), got a van to take us to our Airbnb, dropped off our bags as we got in before check-in time of 3pm, then went to a friend's place for a hot lunch. We got back in the evening, checked in and went to bed.

House hunting started the next day, the ones we booked for viewing from Nigeria were all taken by the time we landed so we started afresh. For now, we're still house hunting as landlords are asking for credit score or pay stubs etc. We're ready to pay for 6 months rent so as just to get a place. No luck yet.

Our plan is to get a house, get the kids in school and then start full job search. Nairalanders in Brampton and Mississauga, please any assistance in this regard will be well appreciated.

Hello all, please what is public school education like when compared to the Catholic school system? In terms of quality of education, moral system etc. Is there any much difference? Thank you.

I'm so happy for your family.
It will indeed end in praise for us all!

hifyty:
Folks,

I have a testimony, we have passed our medicals, even though the CIC doc told us clearly, you would most likely be asked for further tests for your daughter. we give glory to God that is not happening. I dont know how God did it but he did it anyway. The good glitch that happened also moved our application into the IP2 gang.

Let me borrow the most popular phrase in here; It will end in praise!

Cheers

1. Birth certificate is only for children.
2. You're very much in line. There's only one placeholder for educational docs.

hayor2014:
Good day Fam,

1, Is there any place where am to upload birth certificate for me and my Wife, i can only see for my baby.

2. For education, i uploaded, Masters certificate, Bsc certificate, Ielts result and ECA evaluation.( is this okay) as i did not see any place to put ielts and Eca

1. Yes, IRCC requirement is a reference letter from your financial institution.
2b. You do not need to submit her statement of account.

You can write an LOE and do a table of your total POF as the 1st page in your POF PDF file for easy understanding by the VO (that was exactly what I did).

I did not submit my salary account statement. I submitted only a joint account statement of account and FD certificate with the bank's reference letter.

clock89:
Hello All,

Please I have a question about POF, Mutual Funds and Gift of deeds. From my research on this thread I’ve picked up a few things, please highlight any inconsistencies.
1. Most of my savings is in Mutual funds, my salary account is mostly empty save for monthly living costs. I believe I can submit just a reference letter from my Fund managers (ARM) as POF, they can also provide a Statement of Account (without submitting my salary account SOA?)

2. My savings would make up for about 50% of POF, I plan to use a gift of deed letter from my blood sister to complete the rest. I will get the deed notarized and also submit a bank statement/email alert showing the inflow.

Will that be sufficient or will I need to show that she is capable of gifting me said funds, maybe by attaching her statement of Account.?

Many thanks for your responses

Yes at the emboldened statement. The deed, family receipt and a sale agreement with the buyer's name reflected in the transfer to your account is sufficient.

hayor2014:
Hello guys...issue on POF, I intend to use the sale of a landed property purchased about 5 years back, the only papers I got was the deed of assignment and family receipt, are these 2 documents enough to evidence a legitimate purchase ?, and I intend to use the proceed from sale of same property (now with a structure on it) as source of funds...I hope I won't have any issues with this, the funds will be used for treasury bills

My advice is to use the name on your passport. Your WES ECA will come with a statement that one or two name differs. When uploading your educational docs, add an evidence of name change like an affidavit to reflect that it's same person.

That's what I did in my case.

firmphem:
Hello House, I urgenty need an advise on this:

My master's degree carries my surname because i hadnt done change of name then
Now that I have done it, which of the names should I put in for WES evaluation?
Thank you in advance

I wanted the SOA to show the inflow of funds as the FD was just some days old (didn't want to keep idle funds and no time to start TB). I also had some extra funds in the account.

DadR:
Thanks for the feedback. I want to assume that you submitted an SOA and Bank's reference cos you had funds in them to show and not because you wanted to use them to support the fixed deposit certificate.

Just wana be sure that an SOA and BR aren't compulsory if one is submitting POF using fixed deposit or mutual fund.

Cheers

Congratulations to you and yours and I tap massively into your swift timeline.

Could you please share what POF did you submit?

It's PPR people!!!

My timeline is:

ITA.....  Jan 10
AOR.... Jan 17
MEP..... Feb 02
IP1 ...... Feb 02
NA2..... Feb 06
IP2 ...... Feb 20
PPR .....Feb 20

When this part 3 was opened, I made a silent declaration that my PPR story will be told here and here it is!

I want to give God the praise because myself and spouse wrote IELTS in August 2017 once using only ieltsbuddy.com and the road to IELTS from BC. Then ASUU or was it NASU strike held back our WES until Nov/Dec 2017. Family size of 5.

We started this process using the CIC website only until I stumbled on this thread (part 2) through Google.
I will encourage newbies to read the CIC website and thoroughly because every needed info is there and seek further guidance or Naija experience from this thread and parts 1 and 2.
