I am so scared for this our generation! I wonder where people get the guts to say that this is not a big deal! Abnormality has suddenly become a Norm to us. Yahoo Yahoo is no longer a big deal in our dictionary ,committing fraud is nothing to many youths,stealing is ok by many folks, We are always in the news for bad and evil things?Where are the cultural founding blocks that makes us as a people? With this our backward way of thinking I do not see hope for Nigeria . |
@Obowunmi: Am so sorry there is a big deal in this, This is a big disgrace to the repuation of our country that is already in the mud and it is a serious embarrasment to millions of honest Nigerians that work hard and still have moral values. Obowunmi: There is a big deal to this , by the time that idiot spends the rest of his life behind the cell he will understand what he has gotten himself into. Obowunmi: Once again I insist there is big deal in this, It is so sad that in a country whereby we are blessed with so much wealth we have lost our sense of cultural upbringing and today , Yahoo Yahoo! Boko Haram! Mend! Corruption! is the main thing , When people ask you where you are from and you can't proudly say you are from Nigeria, Obowunmi that is when you will realize that there is a big deal in Nigerians creating a bad reputation for themselves within the country and beyond. Very disgusting situation!! |
I used to have so much energy defending Nigeria in front of colleagues at work and friends.I remember saying Farouk Mutallab was just a bastard that never lived in Nigeria but with the likes of Boko Haram and this stupid Olajide Oluwaseun (Esuseun) that keeps disgracing us abroad,is it really worth defending a country like that? |

The Guardian FORMER Head of State, Gen Ibrahim Babangida on Saturday announced his final withdrawal from active politics, saying that it is time for the young generation to take over the leadership of the country. He, however, canvassed a five-party system as the best option for the country against the 63 registered political parties. Answering questions after casting his vote at the Up Hill polling station, Sabon Gari, Minna, Babangida said he believes there will be a realignment of political parties in the future, adding that he tried two political parties but hopes the number could be brought to a manageable size of five. Accompanied by his daughter, Halima and son, Mohammed, the former Head of State said that he is still a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and that as a founding father, would never leave PDP for another party. On the chances of the PDP winning the presidential election, Babangida said, “Going by what I have been reading in the newspapers, everybody has a chance. Politics is like a game; if you lose, try again and that is the essence of politics.” On the security situation in the country, reoccurring incidences of bomb blast and the call from some quarters for military intervention, Babangida said, “I have always said that the military is an aberration; we shouldn’t introduce them into our politics now, we have had it before and I don’t support that we introduce military to come and truncate our democratic process, not even to take part in our electoral process. “However, we should be vigilant and sensitive to issues around us especially on security, I think State Police would solve our security problem.” Babangida commended the large turn out of Nigerians for the exercise and praised Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for providing an enabling environment for a free and fair elections. Also speaking , Niger State Governor, Dr Babangida Aliyu said the large turn out of voters for the election is an indication that Nigerians are beginning to appreciate what democracy is all about. He observed that the 2011 general elections had laid the foundation for the entrenchment of democracy in the country. The governor noted that the State government had corrected the mistakes observed during the National Assembly election adding that following the two incidences of bomb blast, Suleja has been identified as a flash point areas while enough security personnel have been deployed to the area to prevent any form of security breach. He advocated for community policing. Also speaking, wife of former Head of State, Justice Fati Abubakar expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place by INEC to ensure a hitch-free exercise, describing it as a new dawn for the country. Does anyone care about this wicked man that has contributed to the backwardness in Nigeria?He has used Nigeria to play chess just like some people are doing right now, Go Rest Man and take that money to heaven /hell when you are following your wife.Greedy Bastards!! |
Obviously not logical . Listen to Einstein " INSANITY IS DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS " I cant wait to hear any fool complain in my ears 8 years from now. Thats what they call use your hand do yourself . Some people are up there making billions of Naira (Sending their kids to the best schools abroad,saving the national cake for 3 generations to come ) while millions are suffering under abject poverty (3 square meals is a miracle for some people, others are dying everyday on our roads) yet we cant still see the writting on the wall. I WEEP FOR THIS COUNTRY |
@Topic, I still can't understand why is it when the Election is close that we have this so called our leaders conducting the right tasks? Definitely after they have been elected for another regime ,they would forget they need to continue/fulfil what they have promised us /Their responsibilities . . . . . .God Save the country. @Desolah you have just spoken my mind. People are easily deceived. Nigerians are like infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming Eph 4:14 I WILL KEEP SAYING THIS, I PRAY THAT GOD WILL PUNISH ANYBODY THAT COMPLAINS THAT ELECTRICITY HAS NOT BEEN FIXED OR THERE ARE NO JOBS 2 years FROM NOW IF YOU VOTE FOR GEJ. It is so hard for Nigerians to learn from history , Bloody Magas, They will now be complaining that Nigeria is not moving forward. GEJ is just a PDP boy, a variable that will be manipulated anyhow in Nigeria's Programing world May God open our eyes someday !! We have the pen to rewrite history in our hands, Abeg vote wisely jare |
@efisher This is the link http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/19709-protection-of-votes-police-disagree-with-inec |
@ efisher please can you verify what the difference is between not using phones and staying 300m away. Nairalanders please help me, is 300m not what I think it is in a country where the system is filled with corrupt minded individuals that can kill just to stay in power ![]() |
Before what the Inspector General of Police said was you cant use your phone at the polling centre NOW it is STAY 300m AWAY FROM THE POLLING BOOTH. Is there hope for this country with these corrupt and heartless leaders that want to continue to ruin the future of Nigeria ,Youths and that of our generations to come? , The police have disagreed with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the latter’s policy on the protection of votes by voters in April’s general election. While INEC had said that voters should remain at the polling centres after casting their votes until the time the votes are counted, the police said INEC’s policy was against the law. The police said the law guiding elections in the country made it mandatory for voters to stay 300 metres away from polling or collation centres after election. But political parties in Niger State have said that they would abide by INEC’s policy as the rule by the police was fraught with danger. Addressing senior police officers and representatives of political parties in Minna on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s election, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of zone 7, Mr Felix Ogabaidu, who reminded the political parties of the law said if people were allowed to mill around polling stations “there will be chaos”. Ogabidu added that the INEC policy if implemented, would “heighten tension and lead to great insecurity.” The police boss also reeled out a 17-point code of ethics for the political parties and their supporters and urged them to respect the laws for the nation to have credible polls. Ogbaidu further told policemen that would be assigned to election duties “to be absolutely impartial” adding that “our job is to provide level playing field for all. “Don’t side anybody. Let people freely cast their votes” he said before warning policemen against falsehood. Virtually all the representatives of the political parties in attendance at the meeting held at the police officers mess opposed the AIG saying “we will not ask our people to leave the polling centres.” They also asked the police to stop indiscriminate arrest of members of the opposition if truly they wanted to achieve free and fair elections in the country. |
@Pornohome and gohome please lets bury all these name calling. Lets rather focus on making Mr Dbanj realize that a good name is better than bags of gold. D Banj was once walking the streets like millions of people today.If he has a conscience he wont stand in the progress of helpless Nigerians who are tired of everything happening in Nigeria I see his career taking a downward toll untill he repents on this evil that he has done. Can someone tell me if D Banj will not finish spending the money someday?(Ask Shina Peters what he went through). HE HAS RUINED HIS NAME AND REPUTATION AND IT WILL FOREVER REMAIN IN THE BOOKS OF HISTORY. At a time when millions of people are suffering and cannot put 3 square meal on their table; At a time when Nigeria is moving backwards because of greed on the part of our leaders (when countries like Malaysia are moving towards achieving a" Developed Country's" status , At a time when youths are trying to make a change that will affect their generation and generations to come DBANJJJ (ESAU)YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO TRADE YOUR BIRTHRIGHT FOR A MESS OF POTTAGE BY JOINING FORCES WITH PEOPLE STEALING THE NATIONAL CAKE MEANT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS BELOVED COUNTRY FOR SELLING THE YOUTHS FOR 2 Billion, 5 Billion or whatever you may have been paid to old folks who keep manipulating the future of youths IT IS THE BEGINNING OF YOUR MISSTEP Eldee I salute you for your courage in the face of corruption that has destroyed Nigeria.100 years from now people will not forget your actions. Nigeria deserves more than this , we shouldnt be suffering with the amount of resources God has blessed us with NOOOOOOOOOO ITS PAINFUL |

Our dear Mr Goodluck has given the reason he couldn't attend the debate.He will probably debate with Dele Momodu and Chris OkotiePresident Goodluck Jonathan yesterday adduced reason he did not participate in the presidential debate organised by the NN24, a channel on DSTV. The debate held, in Abuja yesterday. In a statement by the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation, signed by Mr. Ide Eguabor, director of media/publicity, the president said that he opted out of the debate because he had accepted to attend the one organized by the Nigerian Election Debate Group (NEDG), an amalgamation of the Nigeria’s mass media, the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), the Nigeria Bar Association, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), market women and other civil society groups, which has been organising the presidential debate series since 1999. The campaign organization said that with what the NEDG has done, over the years, in organizing presidential debate, it “does not believe that this relevant and credible body, made up of Nigerians and who will moderate a presidential debate watched by Nigerians on all television and radio stations nationwide should be jettisoned for any other one on the eve of crucial national elections.” While expressing regrets that he could not attend the NN24 presidential debate, the group said that Jonathan, “who has a carefully drawn out schedule leading up to the elections will not be able to cancel any of his appointments now to attend to a debate that is only the result of a fresh application.” The statement said: “The Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation has watched with utter consternation, efforts by some individuals and groups to feed the Nigerian public with inaccurate and distorted information to suit their selfish ends. “A presidential debate to be organised by the management of NN24, a subscriber to Multichoice’s DSTV cable, is deliberately being heated up by those who now see what the president will do or will not do as an opportunity for political capital. “The truth of the matter is that several applications from various groups, including that of NN24, have reached the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation seeking to organise the presidential debate, preparatory to the April general elections. “The campaign organization sent its officials to sit as observers at some of the meetings called to deliberate on modalities. However, after a thorough examination of the reports of its observers to these meetings, a collective decision was taken to retain the body that had organized presidential debates since 1999 and has performed creditably well and so, saw no need to discard the platform and template for another. “The fact is that, the Nigerian Election Debate Group (NEDG), organisers of the presidential debate series, is an amalgamation of the Nigeria’s mass media, print and electronic, the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN), the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), the Nigeria Bar Association, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), market women and other civil society groups. “The Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation does not believe that this relevant and credible body, made up of Nigerians and who will moderate a presidential debate watched by Nigerians on all television and radio stations nationwide should be jettisoned for any other on the eve of crucial national elections. “Furthermore, President Goodluck Jonathan who has a carefully drawn out schedule leading up to the elections will not be able to cancel any of his appointments now to attend to a debate that is only the result of a fresh application. “Having only just concluded his tour of the 36 states of Nigeria, President Jonathan has a hectic schedule ahead before the grand finale of the state campaigns at Abuja on March 26, 2011. “The Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation regrets that President Goodluck Jonathan will unavoidably be unable to attend the debate organised by NN24. |

It is no longer a story that our government officials have consistently been getting away with the National Cake while Unemployment Rate keeps rising,the common man cannot feed three times a day, Recent events in Tunisia and Egypt is a lesson for the wicked and heartless people that are ruling Nigeria .Pushing people to the wall will someday lead to a revolt when people cannot take it any longer. Eventhough there is little hope in the coming elections again as usual I will not but say "Everyday for the thief but one day for the owner" http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/01/29/egypt.protest.sat.gallery/index.html |
Why are we so negative folks? Whats wrong in a dream?Joseph had a dream while every situation around him looked bleak but his dream came to pass. If thats too hard to phantom, I watched a black man that everybody said has little experience win the Democratic Primaries;FYI today Barack Obama is the preseident of the United States of America.(They believe in themselves) I think at this level that Nigeria is right now we should be clamouring for CHANGEEEEEEEE or else we will always return to Status Quo and we will be doing business as usual when PDP takes over office again. Opportunity comes but once. After this election trust me 4 years from now its still going to be the same story. Are we not tired of this corruption? Are we not tired of a few people packing all the money thats meant for the masses? Are we not tired of thousands of people graduating from college and having nothing to show for their 6-9 years (After Strikes) in college? Are we not tired of thousands of people perishing on the Lagos Ife road every year when we come from a country flowing with milk and honey? We need a new beginning folks.Revolution comes in little forums like this where we get together to discuss the future of our unborn kids. |
