Contemporary football is a results business and trust me, Mo's results greatly overshadow Rafa's.

Sports › Re: Were The Super Falcons Really Picked Up From The Airport In A Trailer? by FBS: 9:16am On Nov 17, 2010
Nigeria’s Super Falcons who yesterday afternoon returned from South Africa with the African Women Championships trophy were shockingly given a treatment fit for losers who came back home early from the war. The girls who fought hard for their seventh win of the African title and the sixth in the series since the tournament became an official championship, found themselves being herded into an old MAN-Diesel truck that had been converted to load cargoes. The10-tonne bus took the heroines from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport to the local terminus.

If this arrangement looked bad, then the type of vehicle that even the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had originally arranged to transport the African female champions, had to be seen as anti-state behaviour. They had earlier arranged for a raggedly, flat-bed, Mack trailer (XS668 LSD) that had no hand railing to hold on to. However, federation officials at the airport to organize the reception for the ladies, sensing the danger the truck posed, had to quickly discard it for the Man-Diesel substitute, which was hardly a credible alternative.

The driver of the truck that eventually drove the team, who gave his name as ‘Baba Oyege’, admitted his truck was a ‘Goods Only’ at the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company, the cargo wing of the MMI. Responding to a question as to how he managed to corner the very edifying job of transporting the latest national heroines, the driver of the truck had got elated at the rare chance to boast, and paraphrased, he said: “My name? Ah, I’m known as Baba Oyege. This truck is for carrying goods at NAHCO. It belongs to my father.”

To portray how little the federation men think of the Falcons, ‘Baba Oyege’ even appeared for the job topless (he was not wearing a shirt on his trousers). “Any Work is work,” he said in response to whether he felt dignified having such illustrious Nigerians as ‘cargo’ as different to his normal load of baggage. “It doesn’t matter to me the nature of the cargo. Cargo is cargo, whether they are champion footballers or arrested drug pushers. Mine is to deliver the goods right on time from one place to the other.”
By now, the poor man was profusely sweating, having been stressed by the delay caused by the unnecessary protocol and the heat coming from the half exposed engine of the rickety he had to keep revving to keep it from stalling …and probably refusing to kick back to life if it stopped.

Akunyili Condemns Use of ‘Naija’ in Place of Nigeria

The Federal Government has condemned in strong terms the use of “Naija” in place of Nigeria, saying that such usage is “very uncharitable and unpatriotic”.

Minister of Information and Communication, Prof. Dora Akunyili, made the remarks while receiving the participants of Heir Apparent Reality Show in her office in Abuja yesterday.

Akunyili, who frowned on the continuous misrepresentation of the country's official name in place of a “corrupt” version, said: "It is very offensive to call Nigeria ‘Naija’. We are making plans to write companies to stop using the word Naija. I have heard that name Naija in adverts. I want them to go back and remove that word.

"If anybody says this is Naija, ask the person, 'Where is Naija?' We have to stop this word because it is catching up with the young. If we don't put a stop to its usage now, it will continue to project us wrongly.”

The minister's condemnation was prompted by a sentence in the presentation of the visiting group where “our world is Naija” was inserted.

Akunyili, who fervently spoke against the use of the word, ordered that the sentence be removed from the programme and changed to “our world is Nigeria”.

“Naija” is obviously a Nigerianised form of Niger, from where Nigeria derived its name.

The word is popularly used by musicians, artistes, advert managers and corporate companies and it could be positive or negative, although it is being used more positively in recent times.

It is believed to be trendier and is used by the younger generation.

Though no official condemnation of the word has been made, several reports have warned of the consequence of the usage of such words among the youths.

Folks have a right to react all they want. . . except it has to be within the boundaries of common sense. The true fans dig deep and look for the core reasons we are not performing. The find and analyse these reasons. . Self inflicted or unavoidable?

When they then come to a conclusion, they use the result as a yardstick for judging the outcome of other games. . So when we don't perform well, they don't go over board calling for the heads of all and sundry. That's the way it should be . . Not reacting for the sake of it.

The Chelsea thread is the only thread that never has enough people to say "We lost . . So bloody what"? . .

The next lines you see are . . This player is crap, that player is crap. The manager should be fired  blah blah.
It's a bloody game of football, and we deserve to lose many times. . . sometimes we will lose without the faintest of desires to win. . So damn what? We will bounce back and probably still win the title? So what's the fuss about?
We all agree that these things happen but then it is a reaction and believe me they are only letting steam off! There are simply no boundaries at these point in time. That's the way it is.

Find below Lotti's comment after the match.

'I was surprised because it was a strange result but the result is normal, we didn't play well,' he conceded. 'We didn't play a good game, Sunderland played a fantastic game with fighting spirit, more mentality and we didn't show this kind of mentality.'
The Italian also accepted it was the worst performance since he took over in the summer of 2009.

http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2220048,00.html

So what are you on about? Of course nobody in his right mind would say our players are crap (even know though ramirez guy is suspect  grin ) . Chelsea lost today. Bad. We hope for better days.
