simpletron:Simpletron, NAHCO will be a good buy, if you get First Bank around N14, it will be a good buy for short term too |
Deep Soul:thats a good buy even for long term. |
Are you looking at short term or long term investment? This is the time that the intelligent investors hit d market |
Tonline, I emailed you. Will expect your response. |
blacksta:Blacksta, you r welcome, anytime. I expected Foster to be more confident, he is surely not ready to step into Van der Saar's shoe. Nice finish Carvalho |
blacksta, you can download TVUPlayer and watch it on 21500-Soccer |
STConcept:STConcept, I would have preferred if you open a thread for your 500% ROI instead of changing the initial topic. |
egin:Egin, I will have to disagree with you on that, Countries that pegged their Currencies mostly against the USD has their reasons for doing so, though I am not a subject matter in this but i will say you are not right by saying Countries that do so are not reasonable. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahamas,Bahrain, Hong Kong Dollar, Qatariya dollar, Omani Riyal are all pegged. Most of this countries are doing well and they 've got their reasons. I'm not saying Naija should pegged her currency anyway. You might want to study more on pegged exchange rate here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed_exchange_rate and list of pegged currencies here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fixed_exchange_rate. cheers |
egin:Egin, good contribution there, though I work abroad but I'm not with the school of thought that the naira value should depreciate, reason being , when I send $$$ back home, the Naira equivalent will be used for either my business in naija or property development, the depreciation of the naira invariably means the cost of procuring building materials, household items etc will rise and when you do your analysis, the difference wont be that much, and Nigerians will be affected as a whole, The part of the world where I work now, the US dollar is pegged at almost 100% against the local currency, thus the economy is somewhat stable. The CBN seems to be on top of situation as reflected in this report http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=150709 |
@ndu_chucks , I agree with you that the official rate quoted in the report is not a true reflection of what is obtainable, however with the country losing around $1Billion, every month , it is said that CBN is tapping into the forex reserve at an alarming rate and might not be able to continue to do so, which invariably means the value will depreciate more, I could remember same reason was given a couple of month ago before Soludo left when $1USD was exchanged for N180 there about. The official rate has depreciated about N3 within a week but the black market value hasnt, I hope they can sustain for a while You might want to check this out. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=150621 . The explanation do make some sense, like i said in my previous post, time will tell. |
Sleekfun:The same link coinmill.com has it at 157 naira to a dollar today. Guess the sudden rise might be attributed to this Naira Slumps as CBN Protects Reserves The naira declined to its weakest level in at least 15 years yesterday as the Central Bank of Nigeria limited the supply of dollars at its weekly auctions to protect the nation’s foreign reserves. “The naira slipped to N156.85 to the dollar by 11 a.m. yesterday. That’s the weakest level since at least 1994, according to Bloomberg data,” Citigroup Inc said in a client note yesterday. The CBN manages the naira exchange rate by controlling the amount of dollars it supplies to banks at auctions held on Mondays and Wednesdays every week. CBN sold $183.7 million to commercial banks at its most recent auction on Wednesday, July 29, below the demand of $604.84 million. The decline in the naira sparked off “panic” sales of naira for dollars by Nigerian businesses “who feared the local currency could dip further and hurt their operations,” Citigroup noted. “The central bank simply isn’t meeting the demand for dollars in Nigeria at its bi-weekly auctions. We suspect it’s because they don’t want to run down their foreign reserves,” Leon Myburgh, a fixed-income and currency strategist for sub-Saharan Africa at Citigroup, said in an interview. Nigeria’s foreign reserves slumped 19 per cent to $43.2 billion by July 3, compared with $53 billion at the end of December, CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi said on July 7. The naira has lost almost a quarter of its value since the end of November last year when the global financial crisis first began, sparking a slump in the price of oil, which accounts for about 90 percent of Nigeria’s export revenue. Do i sense another rise in the exchange rate of dollars to naira, next few days will tell, http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=150327 |
Sure, the UK Schools nor elsewhere in Europe will never write such on the certificate, I doubt if that is obtainable in naija either |
BAC, you are funny, guess if you are more creative you can think of better ways of disposing the bottles in the long run not necessarily shipping them to Naija, you might create an environmental friendly business out of it |
Just wondering, does the certificate reads the study was on part time ![]() |
This can only happen in naija |
Pervert9, That wasnt funny |
Sexybabes, most at times i prefer to go with this school of thought, though debatable its said that in most relationship the spouse probably has 80% of what the other person expects from him/her and should be able to make do with the 20% lacking or discuss how to make the 80, 90% thereabout over time, while the partner might complain and walk out from the relationship cos of the "20%" he/she will soon realize the new found love might not get a good score not to talk of an average. If you are sure your former guy is still in love with you and since you mentioned you've been through a lot together, i'll suggest you give him a try again while you watch your back, the 80% might be in there Wish you good luck |
How happy will i be if there could be a readily available substitute for Palm Oil. I lived somewhere on the other side of the Atlantic for 6 months and palm oil was not available, here i am again 18 months after living in the "desert" and missing palm oil badly. Any one got a tested replacement ?? |
Hmmm, how time flies. Wetin man no sell, while In Primary School, I would willingly want to follow grandma apprentices to hawk stuffs ranging from garri, rice, beans using the then OYO state kobiowu for measuring food stuff stuff in those day. Kuli Kuli, Dodonfua, Tomatoes, Tantase surely made the list While on Holidays will follow Grandma to the market and hawk nylon bag within the market environ, ice water (nothing like pure water then) Our house is situated on the main road that leads to the eid praying ground, trust i always look forward to the eid period as that was always an avenue to bring out the entrepreneurial skills in me hawking ice water, boiled egg, "fan ice" (ice water mixed with some coloring) While helping Sweet Mother to get bread from the bakery to sell in the shop or hawk around. All this didnt stop me from completing daily homework from school and was lucky to stay within 1st to third position through the primary school days Till date, I never felt i was abused as a child just felt i needed to do those stuff as a thank you to Grandma and Sweet Mother who would stop at nothing to see us succeed. Still hawk while in the Junior Secondary School and was never ashamed when some girls in my class saw me hawking with a bowl of garri or beans on my head as the next time we discuss could be while trying to explain Pythagoras' Theorem to her in the class. What a nice experience it was, i believe the experience is what has always make "unhappy" anytime i'm not making any cash outside the normal paycheck, though was on a paycheck of tax free of more than 100,000USD at 27. I still feel limited and constrained to shoot for the moon, which explain why some colleagues still call me PP (Private Practice) as i always embrace cool idea to make some bucks outside the regular paychek @ woomie, sky is your limit we have re-written that phrase my sister, there shouldn't be a limit really, let sky be the beginning |
Will be glad if anyone could update us one the progress of the rail Project, I believe we should have people that work with LAMATA , the Rail Transit itself or Contractors working on the project, any update of any kind will be appreciated. |
Sent some dollars down to naija. Called my Malam contacts in lagos and Ibadan, the best rate was in Lagos to buy at 158 but the dollar was to be cashed in Ibadan after so much consultation from one Malam to another had to settle to sell the dollar at N154 in Ibadan, guess the black market rate will be parallel to the official rate soon. |
Jumie, I cant but reply to your post. You've got to believe in yourself and follow your dream, be creative and like you've been advised leverage on the internet to showcase your product, if you are of the entrepreneurial mind know that even if you make 1million naira per month from the white collar job, you wont still be fulfilled until you pursue your dream. Start posting your work and might pick some for my wife |
I dont think the dollar falling against other currency affect the rate to Naija Naira. The dollar has been on the decline for quite some time now but the reverse is the case against the Naira. Mixed feeling though |
@efosanice, whats your bank interest rate like for 30days Fixed deposit for 1M and above |
I pray God give Gov Raji Fashola the grace to see this project come to pass, A couple of Nigerians home and abroad dread going to lagos due to the only available road traffic jam. Anyone with update on the project implementation? Pictures or links will be highly appreciated |
