POLICE ARREST MASTERMINDS OF ABUJA/KADUNA TRAIN ATTACK, PARADE 63 SUSPECTS FOR VIOLENT CRIMES ALONG ABUJA-KADUNA EXPRESSWAY, KADUNA STATE
The Nigeria Police Force, under the astute leadership of Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun Ph.D., NPM, continues to make significant strides in combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the country.

The recent sustained deployments along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway and kaduna state at large have led to massive successes in the fight against violent crimes in the state between January 2024 till date.
Notably, a strategic initiative implemented along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway is the deployment of a helicopter as an escort for trains traversing the route.
This measure, under the directive of the Inspector General of Police, serves as both a deterrent to criminal elements and a rapid response mechanism in the event of any untoward incidents, ultimately enhancing security along the corridor and in the state at large.
The relentless efforts of the Nigeria Police Force have yielded remarkable outcomes, including the arrest of 81-armed robbery suspects, 40 kidnap suspects, 73 murder/homicide suspects, 36 rape suspects, 22 suspects involved in cult-related crimes, and 28 suspects engaged in other criminal activities.

EFCC reportedly barricades Kogi ex-Gov. Yahaya Bello’s house in Abuja amid N84billion fraud case
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have reportedly barricaded the house of the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello in Wuse, Abuja.
It has been reported that the EFCC siege is coming days after the former governor held a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, at the State House.
On Wednesday, a top source shared the photograph showing how operatives of the EFCC barricaded the access road to the Bello’s house.

According to the source, “EFCC barricades Bello’ house in Abuja. No movement in the area as EFCC barricaded the house. They are yet to gain access.”
Although there was no immediate information available to the reason while the anti-graft agency stormed the former governor’s residence, it may be connected with the N84 billion fraud case against him which the EFCC is prosecuting.
The EFCC had charged the former governor with financial fraud to the tune of N84 billion.
The anti-graft commission in an amended charge, accused Bello of diverting N80 billion of state funds in September 2015, four months before he assumed office.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken action against three private jet operators for their involvement in commercial flights.
The suspension of their permits was announced in a notice posted on the NCAA’s website, signed by Acting Director General Captain Chris Najomo.
This move comes after warnings from Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, regarding unlicensed private jet operators conducting commercial services, which he stated were causing significant revenue loss to the Federal Government.
Despite previous warnings, these operators continued their commercial flight operations, leading to their suspension. Najomo emphasized the Authority’s commitment to enforcing regulations, stating that a re-evaluation of all permit holders would be conducted to ensure compliance. Additionally, he directed all holders of the Permit for Non-Commercial Flights (PNCF) to submit relevant documents within 72 hours.
The statement also addressed existing Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holders, urging compliance with regulations and emphasizing the importance of valid certification for charter operations.
The NCAA urged the public to avoid patronizing charter operators without valid certification and encouraged legitimate industry players to report any suspicious activities promptly.

The other 10 persons were men and were arrested across the city, especially close to markets where a lot of activities happen. President Tinubu Scraps EFCC, ICPC, NCDC, NCC,NTA, Several Others over Oronsaye report
President Tinubu has ordered the immediate scrapping of many agencies in full implementation of the Oronsaye report.
President Bola Tinubu on Monday, February 26, ordered the implementation of the Stephen Oronsaye panel’s report on the reform of the civil service, in this report, Goldmynetv recalls the recommendations of the committee as regards the abolition, reduction, merger, and revision of some MDAs.
A lot has been said about Steve Oronsaye’s report.
The civil service plays a vital role in the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation as well as the sustenance of governance objectives and goals.
Over the years, several committees have been set up by successive administrations towards reducing the number of federal government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) but to no avail.
A lot too, has been said about the report on the 2014 National Conference but not much has been said on the 1999 Ahmed Joda’s Report on Streamlining and Rationalisation of Poverty Alleviation Institutions and Agencies. Ahmed Joda’s Report is equally as important as Steve Oronsaye’s Report.
The Ahmed Joda’s Panel was set up in June 1999 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The Panel was charged with the responsibility of reviewing the factors responsible for the ineffective and inefficient performance of the existing establishments.
The 2014 National Conference was inaugurated by former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan

Lagos State Government set to penalise Landlords renting out their apartments at exorbitant fees
The Lagos State Government on Thursday said it would penalise homeowners found guilty of renting out their apartments at exorbitant fees.
Commissioner for Housing Moruf Akinderu-Fatai in a statement, said the government would wield a big stick on allottees who engaged in sharp practices.
According to him, residents of various state housing schemes have filed complaints about the high rent being charged by homeowners.
He added that the state government will withdraw allocation from culpable homeowners. He said: “The essence of asking allottees to make a five per cent down payment and spread the remaining amount for ten years was to make life bearable for Lagosians.
“This is what Mr Governor wants to achieve, but some people seem to be taking Mr Governor’s magnanimity for granted. They are renting those apartments out to make money. The question is why do people try to inconvenience others when the government intended to make life bearable for citizens?”
Akinderu-Fatai called on the facility managers and association members in the estates to report culpable allottees to the ministry, adding that those homeowners would forfeit their apartments with their payment refunded.
The commissioner assured that the State Government will continue to cater to the needs of first-time buyers who are in dire need of such accommodation facilities through outright purchase and rent-to-own platforms. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing, Abdulhafis Toriola, an engineer, said a lot of complaints have been received from some of the estates that some homeowners harbor people of questionable character hence posing a thr£at to residents.
He noted that the ministry as a matter of urgency shall investigate and take the right step towards safeguarding the lives and prosperity of residents in the affected estates. The Permanent Secretary also urged allottees

FG can’t continue to subsidize electricity — Minister of Power
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, says Nigeria cannot continue to subsidise electricity, adding that the nation must begin to move towards a cost-effective tariff model, as the country is currently indebted to the tune of 1.3 trillion naira to generating companies (GenCos) and 1.3 billion dollars owed gas companies
Adelabu, addressed a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, said only 450 billion naira was budgeted for subsidy this year but the ministry needs over 2 trillion naira for subsidy.

He said state governments will now be allowed to generate power independently to supply power to their states. On the grid that has collapsed for about six times between December 2023 and now, he said this was caused by shortage of gas, ageing machines in the grid value chain, low capacity to evacuate generated power, and destruction of power stations in some parts of the North-East geopolitical zone of the country.
He said the Transmission Company of Nigeria has over 100 abandoned projects due to variations on contract figures as a result of the fluctuations of the forex, hence the company will not award any new contracts till all such projects are completed. The minister also said over 50 billion naira has been earmarked in the 2024 budget to build mini grids to supply power to remote areas.
He said electricity distribution companies (DisCos) should sit up otherwise anyone found wanting will have his licence withdrawn.
The minister also said he has reached out to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu to help

$6.2m Fra¥d: FG asks Interpol to place three Nigerians on watchlist for allegedly conspiring with Emefiele to ‘forge Buhari’s signature’
The Nigerian government has requested the assistance of the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) to hunt and arrest three defendants in the alleged withdrawal of $6.2 million from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) last year through a forged document.
The office of the Special Investigator of the CBN, Jim Obazee, made the request
on Monday after obtaining an order of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The office, through a letter by its head of operations, Eloho Okpoziakpo, named the defendants as Adamu Abubakar, Imam Abubakar and Odoh Eric Ochene.
The federal government had filed extradition charges against the trio for allegedly forging the signature of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and documents purportedly written by Boss Mustapha, the former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), to induce the payment of $6,230,000 from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).The fund was purportedly meant for foreign election observers.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had earlier charged Mr Ochene, who is at large, alongside former CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, before the Federal High Court in Abuja with stealing the said sum under the presence that it was requested by the presidency to pay international election observers.
The anti-graft agency alleged that on 8 February 2023, Mr Emefiele connived with Mr Ocheme to obtain $6.2 million from the CBN, claiming that the money was requested by the then Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha

Hardship: We Plan To Establish A National Commodity Board To Crash Food Prices - VP Shettima
The federal government has announced the plan to set up a Commodity Board to regulate the soaring prices of food in the country.
Vice President, Kashim Shettima, disclosed this on Tuesday during a two-day high-level strategic meeting on climate change, food systems and resource mobilization held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Shettima, the board’s mandate includes assessing and regulating food prices, as well as overseeing a strategic food reserve to stabilize prices of critical grains and other essential food items.
“Our solution to the potential food crisis has become immediate, medium, and long-term strategies. The short-term strategy entails revitalizing the food supply through specific interventions like the distribution of fertilizers and grains to farmers and households to counteract the effects of subsidy removal; fostering collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Water Resources for efficient farmland irrigation, ensuring year-round food production, and addressing price volatility by establishing a National Commodity Board.
“This board will continually assess and regulate food prices, maintaining a strategic food reserve for stabilizing prices of crucial grains and other food items,” Shettima said.
On how the government is handling the security challenges that have prevented farmers from working on their farms, he said:
“I wish to assure you that we will engage our security architecture to protect the farms and the farmers so that farmers can return to the farmlands without fear of attacks.
“We won’t only make it safe for farmers to return to their farms, but we will also ensure the activation of land banks. There are currently 500,000 hectares
