The 150 days apply to study permit holders, which is issued based on the Letter of Acceptance (must be the same school and program submitted with the application, but start dates can change) you present on arrival. Then, a study permit is issued on the condition that you must be enrolled full-time during the study permit – you have not received your study permit. Now, the counterfoil (study visa) is just a travel document that allows you to travel to Canada to obtain the authorization to study (study permit), and the 150-day rule applies after you receive your study
permit with the deferred letter.
Your application was approved, study visa issued, but you have not received your study permit.

No, I have someone who got his visa last year, deferred one, and had to apply to the same school and program since Uni Calgary only allow for 1 deferment, the said person just entered Canada last week. His visa will expire next year dec, and was issued 2 years SP at POE.

Just bear in my mind that any deferral beyond one academic semester (150 Days) requires a new visa application irrespective of the school, so starting new year September is unlikely to work with your current visa

It will not affect you if you resume next year and attend the same school. Ensure your visa is valid at the time of your intended entry.
You cannot change your program.

Hello everybody, I’m in a bit of dilemma, I applied since the 26th of June, till date I’ve not had a single update on my application, program start date is 3rd of September, my school doesn’t allow deferral, if I don’t resume by the 3rd of September my admission will be cancelled and I’d need to reapply, I’d like to know if this won’t affect my application and yes I’ve raised web forms 3 times now and yet no update

Hence,it takes a typical of 1 month to get update.

No, you don't need to cancel to get an earlier date. Infact it is advisable that you never cancel.
I once had a similar experience. I'll see an early date on the cancel page, but by the time I get to the reschedule page, I'll get a different date.

Just exercise patience. Continue to check the cancel page. When you find a favourable date, get to the reschedule page ASAP, and you'll see the date right there steering at

I saw a July 5th 2023 date yesterday morning. So it is possible.

There is a daily limit on the number of times you can visit the reschedule page. Too many attempts will lead to your account being frozen for 72 hours. Mine was.
The solution: Visit the 'Cancel Appointment' page. You will find something like the 'earliest available date'. If it is within what you want, simply go back to the reschedule page and then reschedule your appointment. Please don't cancel your appointment on the 'cancel page'!

Simply return to the reschedule page and then reschedule.

tried this now, on the cancel appointment page , it said “ the earliest appointment date is July 20 which is within my time frame” but when I went back to the reschedule page, it was November 2023 I saw, please how can I get past this? ]

For me o , I will say don’t lie , he’s your brother , it won’t make sense if you lie and it comes out later that you lied . Your brother is in the u.s , just say it , at the end of the day these embassy stuff is Just Grace . They approve a lot who have relatives in the USA, they also refuse . So don’t lie , it’s not worth it
