And yes rigs have become more sophisticated, reaching previously untapped zones with directional drilling, chemicals have become more expensive and also have to be eco-friendly putting environment into perspective, then you have waste management, steel, security, refining processes that have to meet green energy standards so you see getting a liter of petrol without subsidy at the old price is unrealistic.
Also don't forget more countries are also now tapping into thier resources making available rigs scarcer
