herrlekan: If your insurance cover is a third party only insurance,it only covers the repairs of the car ran into. Mind you if the cost of repairs is more than the maximum claim you are entitled to, you will have to bear the rest. That means you will pay the balance of repairs cost.
The insurance company of the car than ran into a comprehensively insured car will still bear the loss. This is because the car that ran into the other car is at fault. Hmm... Very good. In that note, apropos the issue that brought up the lectures of insurance, Richard ought to have collected a copy of the insurance document of the driver that he had the accident with and his contact details while they head straight to resolving it with the issurance company instead of accepting the N15k contribution he was given because obviously he wasnt at fault else he wouldnt have been given the money In the first place. Just a logical reasoning. According to his boss dru23 he was asked to fix the bumper of another guy's car but richard claims it was a multiple accident, reason why the word "contribution" came in. Anyways, all is gone now. Just for sake of next time people should know how to go about things like this. All the same, thanks for the enlightenment. |

oluwaseunla: If the car with third party is at fault, and his insurance has to pick up the bills, the owner of the car will fix his car himself. Third party does not cover damage to the insured's vehicle.
Since the other car has a comprehensive insurance, his car can be fixed by his own insurance and they will collect their money from the insurance of the car with third party.
The key question is, who is liable? Which vehicle is at fault? That will determine how everything plays out. But remember, most third party insurance have a limit. Most are just around 1 million. Thanks for the educative info. You're blessed |

herrlekan: Your car third party insurance covers the following:
The insured’s (policy holder) legal liabilities for death and bodily injuries to third parties.
And third party property damage.
The answer to your question concerning breaking of fence is yes,the insurance company will take care of the claim.
While remedies for bodily injuries and death are unlimited since we cannot put value on life (never mind that some people attach no value to life in Nigeria) the limit for third party property damage is N1million or N2million depending on the insurer. How about I the car that got damaged hitting the fence or running into another car? Or the insurance covers for just the car that was ran into? In a situation, the car that was ran into has a comprehensive insurance and the car that ran into it just a third party. How Will things play out? |

sofdoc1: Dru23, I had to quote you when you addressed all Nigerian insurance companies as scams. I felt offended by that comment as I work in Leadway and this is the first reaction I get from most people. The truth is that most of the time, these people have had no direct dealings with these companies but are merely repeating what A told them happened to B they never met. It is a recurring issue that upsets me a lot as I like dealing with facts and figures, not stories they told me.
Now, someone with that mindset that comes across your post believes he or she has more confirmation to a story they have heard all too often.
I am sincerely sorry about what happened to your vehicle, it is really difficult to keep up with this thread buh I saw somewhere where you appeared to be making peace with the said driver in question. That is mature of you - as I would expect. I hope this situation has taught you a lesson and you take future precautions by insuring your vehicle next time. Best of luck. An educated and matured way to criticize and correct a notion. |

radautoworks: And what are the women they married doing
See that's the problem. You guys still think that all falls on your shoulders and don't see your wives as viable resources. My dad does not hesitate to ask my mom for help and my husband doesn't hesitate to ask me for help. And yes, they both sometimes need help. As a matter of fact, I copied my parent's model and it hasn't let me down. Both husband and wife contribute equal portions of their income to the household and the rest is theirs to do as they please. I'm not down with the whole "sit back let the man make money for me to spend". Even housewives can contribute something to the household in the internet age. Its no fault of the men but a reflex from our women. Most women have the notion that the man should be responsible for everything relating to the home even as little as sanitary pads and tissues. Our women have this notion "my man should shoulder everything after all he's the man and the children bares his name". Mind you not all women are privilege to sustain a job after marriage and during child birth but the few that are privilege I can tell you most of them are a pain in the neck to their hubbies especially at the down time of a man's life or when the man is incapacitated to carry major expenses in the home and at this time you begin to hear how important or "a 4minutes man" he is. How many of our women inform their husbands each time they get paid even when the man is responsible for her tp to and fro. We can argue this for ever without striking a balance but the facts remain, When a man is responsible for the home nobody hears but the moment the woman takes responsibility for a few days the whole world will hear it. After all na baba say "a woman's placr is in the kitchen". |

Only a few of us have other line of income which is even nothing compare to what we derive from the uber income. May God help us shal! |

Ogataxi: Personally, I think an Uber driver who has been active in the business for at least one year and doesn't hv savings has a personal problem.
Just my opinion tho You're right shal... But think about this. Boys grow up to become men and then husbands and fathers. How many responsibilities have added up? 2 right? Mind you his only job has been driving on uber with the same income or even worse lesser income because he can't keep late like he used to do when he was still single. So don't be quick to judge my brother the country is hard. |

peeps4u: If this COVID-19 originated from Africa, I'm sure all these western countries would have taken proactive measures to prevent or curtail its spread into their countries.
Nigeria, like many African countries, had chance and time to contain the spead of this virus before it escalated. Now, everyone is on lockdown now; paying the price of govt's failure to heed to our earlier cry to close borders.
This 14-day lock down is going to be tough, not forgetting many have started their lockdown last week. Honestly it's gonna be tough. Like I mentioned here last week most Nigerians survive from their daily income. Most uber/taxify drivers don't have savings. Most market women too don't have a saving apart from what they save to restock their shops/stands. Most mechanics dont have savings. Even our civil servant and most private sector workers run out of cash even before their next pay day. Some of them even use large percentage of their salary to service debt while some start counting down to the next pay day from 15th of every month. So this lockdown will be tougher than we anticipated. To make it worst the president in his speech last night didnt mention anything on how his citizen will sustain during this period. Like I said before, hunger will kill people (especially the poor) more than this virus in the coming days. |
