Food › Re: Agege Bread with "Best Before" Date? Why can’t our local bakers do this? by femi4: 6:37pm On Feb 19 |
sinorte: I was at the store recently and picked up some Agege-styled bread. What caught my eye wasn't just the softness, but a clear 'Best Before' date printed on the packaging.
It seems this is the standard in the Western world, and it got me thinking about our bread industry back home in Nigeria.
My Questions for the House: 1. Safety vs. Tradition: Most of us buy bread in nylon bags without any reliable info. We rely on "pressing" the bread to check for freshness. Isn't it time we moved past this and demanded proper labeling?
2. The "Chemical" Factor: Do you think some bakers avoid dates because they use preservatives to keep the bread soft for weeks? A date would force them to be more honest about their ingredients.
3. NAFDAC's Role: Why is it that many of our local staples get away without these basic consumer protections?
I know our "street" bread is legendary, but shouldn't we be evolving? Or do you think adding dates will just increase the price of a loaf for no reason?
Let’s discuss. Have you ever bought bread in Nigeria that actually had an expiry date? Or are we just "living by faith" with our breakfast? That's definitely not agege bread. Agege bread no dey for sliced |

Ironfaceman: My argument is most Nigeria youth don't see a future in science.
You mentioned brasil and football. But you forgot that brasil is a giant when it comes to science.
Brasil is the manufacturer of Embraer aeroplanes that is what most countries in the world are buying to avoid boeing drama.
Brasil have mastered the act in balancing sports, music and entertainment.
Nigeria is just a giant for nothing. Do you know the number of graduates Nigeria produces quaterly in the field of science and tech. All the afrobeats artistes put together are not up to hip hop artistes in the US yet America is doing well in the manufacturing sector The manufacturing sector is booming in brazil cos its cheaper to produce there cos all the factors of production are guaranteed. It has nothing to do with sports and entertainment Every Country has both sectors and the success of one does not depend on the other |
Celebrities › Re: Billboard Labels Rema A ‘one-hit Wonder’, Faces Backlash by femi4: 12:09am On Feb 19 |
Ironfaceman: Till today I don't know how Afrobeats has helped the Nigerian course.
Many of the so called artist travel abroad to live life They come back to collect extionist fee for a show then travel back
China don't have Afrobeats, nobody is streaming their music but their solid science back ground has set them apart from their peers.
Though Rema is just a happy go lucky, he hasn't been tested.
I wish him well You are offpoint You want to use entertainment as a tool to develop Science n Tech Is like saying how has Football helped Brazil in developing their economy / improve in science n tech These are two parallel lines |
