RevenuesBoost: My husband was wowed by what he saw today. He was like 😯... When did you know how to knit? Who taught you how to do this?😄 Do you know this skill can fetch you money?
I replied;
I knew how to knit in JSS 2; i.e September 2005.
No one taught me, I watched my classmates handled the knitting pin and decided to practice it myself.
Yes I know, I used it to earn some money after secondary school.
December makes us 2 years together and my husband never knew I could knit.😄 What amazed him most was my knitting speed.
I asked him, can you also knit? He replied, No He also said, watching me knit makes him confused on how to go about it 😄
vanbonattel: Wole is right on this one, have you ever seen natives worshipping Amadioha, Kamanu or Ozuzu before. They really rend their hearts and enjoy the worship of their ancestors.
So we don't have fake ones
Those ones using people to do rituals are from where
perfectgen: He is surely doing better than the average Nigerian on minimum wage like him but from his earnings, you didnt ask him about taxes. On £12 per hour and 10 hour work, he makes £120 per day. For even a 5 day work week, that is £600 per week. For a 4 week month, he earns £2400 per month and in 12 months, he earns £28,800 in a year.
On that amount, he pays 20% income tax, outside other taxes such as insurance, health, municipal, but let's stay with income tax; 20% is £5760.
Then, let us talk about rent, If he stays anywhere around London where accomodation is expensive, a studio apartment - what we call bedsitter here, is around £1000/1200 monthly in safe locations, if we go with the lower rent, annually he pays £12,000
Then utility bills will come in; power, internet, and maybe small groceries. Let's just put £150 on that per month, that's £1800 annually.
Now to the issue of transport and feeding, give or take, if he manages well, £200 should cover that monthly, implying that in one year, he would have spent £2400 on transport and food.
So what do we have left, outside other important necessities. We have £28,800 - (£5760+£12,000+£1800+£2400) = £6840.
That's probably the highest he would save after a year's work if he us being very frugal. Unfortunately, that money can barely sustain him for 6 months if he is out of a work, in the UK where you rarely find anyone to aid or assist you, unlike here in Nigeria.
While he would obviously have a better sense of living in the UK than in Nigeria, he may end up frustrated after 2 to 3 years of staying within the same economic situation, which is not any different from what he ran away from.
Pure lies Some of you just sit there and put jargons together
The least you can go home with in the UK after tax is £2000
To useless your analysis, a partner single handedly paid her hubby outstanding school fees of £8500 in 9 months
Food n transport is your least worry in the UK. You can't exhaust £200 on food if you eating their local foods and till date bus of £2 still exist.
Jozilinn: Good evening nairalanders, just had something bothering me and decided to share, why is it that when some people need help they're always around you the moment things get better for them, they'll put you aside and start acting like you are shit that stinks. To help people again really scares me, okay this is what happened,a friend of my sister had issues with feeding and accomodations, everyday no matter how small we usually shared with her to comfort her, now I heard allegedly that she's making it in betting because she now has someone giving her sure odds, and is seriously cashing out, she locked up and didn't say anything, her door is always locked now doesn't allow my nieces in and she has stopped coming to our room. Even my sis didn't know this has been happening, just today God knows I don't have anyone anymore In my account I used the last cash to go buy things to cook and forgot few things to buy,I saw her outside and asked if she could help me immediately she was like "why didn't I buy" abeg I should get out she doesn't have, she doesn't have abeg and she started laughing and hissed. I was surprised even till now I still am. The second person is one of my classmates in school just lost his dad, yes when I needs someone to talk to about my cousin sister issues he was Always giving me advice and all, sometimes he assists me financially but I pay back at times not all, this is actually like the second or third time I have sent him money and send him the screenshot,he acts like he didn't see anything, his reply is you try that's all,and I know I don't have much but I still have that mindset that if I bless someone I will also be blessed. When I saw his reply I immediately remembered what happened to me earlier, doing good make people take you for a fool my classmates own didn't pain me at least I already know that is how he's very competitive and secretive but I knew before I sent him the money,I can always tell him mind, but the way I was laughed out because of something that is very little, onions...haba this isn't her first time I guess that's how she isi believe, someone who leaves our place by 11 at night, feeding, data,I try to support if I can. The insult wasn't necessary now 😔. My sis said we should just ignore her but limit the relationship because she has noticed how she was now behaving, and now she's saying all sort of things about her kids that they pee and smell, because she already have a lot of other things she's thinking and doesn't want to add her own to it as she's isn't worth it, it's well life continues right now I just dey. I hope God help us in this life, let me achieve all my heart desires, Amen 🙏
Just help n go ....never expect anything in return.
Even when one leper returned out of 10 to say thank you, Jesus didn't curse or retreive the healing of the ungrateful 9, instead He added to the blessing of the returned leper
There is a payslip. And one of the components in the breakdown is basic salary.
Also, Nigerians almost NEVER rely on salary.
A filling station attendant can be living in his own house. Same goes for drivers, gatemen etc
How many people use cars abroad?
How affordable is fuel abroad?
How affordable is rent abroad?
How affordable is power abroad?
How debt-free are people abroad?
The 500 pounds savings you mentioned only has value in Nigeria
I enjoy 24hours power supply. My main roads are okay.
What is announcement is different from reality
Let's go back to old min wage, 30k, how many employers were able to pay even till date
You ve probably have not left MM airport before
You think £500 is useless like N50 000 in Nigeria. You can get used manual car in the UK for as low as £900. That should tell you that there are more people driving there and it could have been more if not for their rigorous process in obtaining driving license.
2. Fuel isn't only affordable, but it's not also available unlike what you have in Nigeria where generator n vehicles are competing for space at the filling station.
3. Power is affordable, you can even control how/when you use it. You don't get crazy bills or get charged for darkness. If you free to choose between pay as you use or monthly charged based on your meter readings.
4. Debt is relative. You can be in a prompt servicing debt that improves your credit score compared to urgent 2k debt with opay using your picture as obituary and sending threats to your contacts
How to lie to yourself as a Nigerian: I enjoyed 24hrs power and drive on a good road
But you are not doing better than the average 'mayguard' in Nigeria.
Also, the minimum wage of 70k is basic salary. Other allowances bring it up to 110k. @femi4 and co, take note.
What allowances? How many people are receiving the minimum wage in Nigeria. Even corp members were not paid last month. Don't deceive yourself, he's doing better than an average Nigerian, fuel price isn't stable in Nigeria. Those with cars can't drive, those driving are driving on a bad road. No tap water, power is irregular and unaffordable.
He goes home with nothing less than £2000 after tax in a month and can conveniently save £500 each month. Not considering those doing 2 jobs in this analysis
Mind you, that's African fish imported into the UK. Their home grown food and fruits are cheaper.
Here are some fishes i bought fot just 12 pounds. They are 8 in number. I bought it alongside grinded ogbonno. You can see the grounded ogbonno in the transparent pack that cost about 4 pounds.
So i ended up spending 16.17 pounds in this African shop i went to. I also attached the receipt.
Guess what? The 8 fishes, i was holding one when i took d pix.. i got for 12 pounds is just an hour wage rate. This is what i am paid in just one our of working.
While converting the prices to Naira might be expensive the actual reality is how much effort is put to achieve that earning putting time factor into consideration.
Now, can an hour in Nigeria get you 8 fish?
Assume 160hrs per month
70,000/160 = N437.50 per hour
So, can you buy 8 fish @ N437.50 in Nigeria?
NB fish - plural (same species ) Fishes - plural (Different species)
AntiChristian: Of course i don't believe in it! But i quote it for those who believe in it.
Who is speaking in Hebrew? An unknown author or Paul who never met Jesus in real time! What does Paul know about Prophets and Jesus?
Jesus didn't live before Abraham! And the translation before Abraham was, i am is dubious!
So non-Israelites that are dogs must first have great faith unlike the Master Israelites who need not have faith before Jesus can attend to them? If this is not discrimination then i wonder what is bigotry!
Yes, this doesn't change the fact that Jesus wasn't sent to anywhere apart from Israel!
quote the racist and discriminatory parts (Matthew 10:5- These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
What power have you received in Holy Spirit?
You don't believe in Bible yet you want discredit SOME part of Bible by quoting other parts to suit your narrative. Your submission lacks substance ab initio. Jesus described people like you as HYPOCRITE
You are a typical Bible Skeptics who cherry-pick scripture to discredit the Bible. You're close-minded critics, misusing scripture for your own agenda.
Your logic is self-contradictory, and your skepticism is shallow.
You're intellectual hypocrites, manipulating biblical text to fit your narrative, your pseudo intellectual criticism only reveals your own biases and exposes your folly.
I suggest you actually read the Bible, rather than selectively quoting it. Alternatively, stick to your religion of peace and its book
Gistmedia10: A group of Nigerian local engineers has recently captured attention by showcasing a helicopter they built using discarded materials such as ceiling fans, rods, and other scrap items. The impressive display featured the ceiling fan rotating on the helicopter’s tail and a custom-made fan on top, which intrigued onlookers.
However, despite the anticipation, the helicopter did not take off, leaving many viewers slightly disappointed. Some had hoped to see at least a small lift-off, but the aircraft remained grounded. Nonetheless, there was an outpouring of praise for the engineers’ creativity and effort.
One viewer expressed admiration, saying, "This is great, I initially thought it would lift up a little, but it didn't. If we had visionary leaders, talented persons like this would be invested in. Unfortunately, we don’t; then when foreigners utilize their talents, all the government does is write congratulatory speeches or complain about Nigerians leaving the country."
While some celebrated the ingenuity, others were critical of the project. "They should stop all these. This is the 21st century. If you cannot do it the way the whites are doing it, forget it and stop wasting your precious and productive time," one viewer remarked.
