Some questions:

- How many years is PR valid?
- Can one use the PR in another country other than RSA?
- Does one need to renew the PR certificate - in case ECOWAS passport expires?
- What is the implication of applying for PR in a city where you did not obtain your degree? Say degree was obtained in Free State and want to apply for PR in Gauteng/Mpumalanga?
- Can one get PR while abroad - I mean outside RSA?
- How much is PR application?

- Can one use the PR in another country other than RSA?
NO. You can use it to apply for VISA and travel out of RSA with your ECOWAS PASSPORT. YOU CAN NOT STAY OUTSIDE RSA FOR THE PERIOD OF 3 YEARS. ie YOU MUST COME TO RSA IN EVERY 3 YEARS

- Does one need to renew the PR certificate - in case ECOWAS passport expires?
PR means PERMANENT RESIDENT. IF YOUR PASSPORT EXPIRES GO AND RENEW IT.

- What is the implication of applying for PR in a city where you did not obtain your degree? Say degree was obtained in Free State and want to apply for PR in Gauteng/Mpumalanga? RSA have good data base.
You can apply anywhere within SA

- Can one get PR while abroad - I mean outside RSA?
YES. IF YOU HAVE CRITICAL SKILL WORK PERMIT OR RELATIVE PERMIT

- How much is PR application?
R 1520 + R 1350 (vfs fee)

It has been a long time I posted here. I want to thank God for my life, I came into RSA in March 2015 for my Master degree and i graduated last month with my MEng Electrical Eng. In the course of it I got a Critical Skill Work Permit in Lagos last year December. I came back to RSA this January, after securing a little job, I applied for my Permanent Residence Permit in RSA on 03/05/2017 and it was issued to me on 04/06/2017, I mean I got it in 30 days instead of the usual 8-10 months. Nah God o! Now, I am a Permanent Resident of RSA, I can bring my wife and children anytime I like now and probably relocate to ......

Life in RSA is not easy if you don't plan well because you may end up using all your money to pay rent, which is heavy, but if you are focus, plan well and God help you, then you will make head-way.

I am currently registering for my PhD.

God bless us all.
Congrats brother

Hello,

I am a digital marketing professional(freelancer) and I wish to relocate to South Africa for maybe a year or two to meet in order to learn more about my profession. Also while in South Africa, I will furthering my education so the purpose of my relocation is work and study. By work, I will not be looking for jobs because I already have well paying jobs and can easily land new clients and new business so my earning potential will always be bright. I just need to be in a more advanced country in order to learn more about my craft.

Honestly, I have no idea about how to go getting a visa, how much I need to have in my account and all of these things. I will really appreciate if someone can help me with an estimate of how much I need to have in my account before I apply for visa. How much I need to budget for both accommodation and living expenses.

If anyone can help me out with this information I will be really glad.

Thanks brothers and sisters!
Hello Write Boy. I accommodation is very high in SA but you can get take one room plus bedroom with chicken if you want to relocate to SA get valid permit

but please bros dont be angry I have one last question. if I go to south africa with a tourist visa say 3 months visa and I get married to her within that 3 months visa:after the marrige can I
apply for my temporary residence immediately? and how months does it take for one to get it? and will I have to leave southe Africa when the 3 months visa expires while I wait for my temporary residence?.....thanks in advance for your responses. one love.
Hello brother, how are you? My guy only Home affairs can answer your question correctly. Ask her to make enquiries in DHA before you embark with your journey. One thing that I know is that you can not change your status in South with visitor visa. Your staying in SA will determine at points on entry may be 3days or 15 days or the whole 3 months Thanks

please I need urgent answers, thanks
Brother, don't waste your time and money coming to SA because of a woman, with your questions I can see you don't have money to come and marry in SA. Accommodation in SA and other part of the world are expensive. If you eventually marry her you will wait for 5years before you can get PR. Ask her to make enquiries for you in home affairs. Please don't mind me but follow my word. Thanks

South Africa doesn't worth all the stress you guys are going through. Visas, permit, accommodation, etc. I came to south Africa in 2008 and most of my peers have left because they just couldn't survive in the system. The truth about sa is that there are no jobs (forget your degree) especially if you didn't migrate from southern Africa. You will always stands out and treated differently that's just the plain truth. I learned in hard away and the experience broaden my orientation that life is easy and to always be satisfied with what you have. If you are coming to sa without good plans please don't try it (its better you go to US, Canada, Australia, where you can pick tomatoes on the farm and in few years you can afford to build a mansion back home). I have lived 8 years in sa I have valid asylum seeker since 2009 (use it to work, open bank account (FNB) study in unisa & pc training) i have work permit, I have lesotho passport and ID, I have a daughter citizen and I staying with my girl friend so paper is not problem. Without steeping into sa you can get work permit, permanent resident, Lesotho passport and ID if you have money why is because their officials are corrupt just like every other black African officials. But with all these papers getting a job is a miracle with your degree or not.
Dear nairalander all you can get when you are in Nigeria is fake Lesotho passport fake SA ID and fake SA permanent residence permit. I agree with you that there is no job in SA but some Nigerians are still getting a valid and a good job in SA. I met Nigeria here in SA that are using Asylum permit then using fake work permit too. I know about 5 Nigerians. Then please don't confuse people here. You can get job in South Africa if you have skills and experience that they are wanted but the truth of the matter is that jobs are limited in SA and they don't want foreigners especially Nigerians anyone. Lastly my people please please and please don't come to SA to hustle. You can not get anything out of it. Thanks

Hello bros, what is status in SA? if you are on asylum please go back home. You don't need to get Lesotho passport. All is lies you will just waste your time and money. 23 January 2017

The Department of Home Affairs has distanced itself from messages circulating on social media networks and Short Message Services (SMS) alleging it has ordered immediate deportation of undocumented migrants from Monday 23 January 2017. It wishes to inform the public that such information is false. No such statement was made or issued by the department or any official.

Home Affairs acts consistently within the confines of the Constitution of the Republic and seeks at all times to uphold the rule of law. It would run contrary to the laws of our country to instruct citizens, as purported in the malicious messages, to take the law into their hands, and to close companies down without due process.

It is through the immigration services, and its inspectorate, that the department enforces immigration legislation, manages the immigration system and effects deportations, in terms of the Immigration Act 13 of 2002 and regulations.

The inspectorate has a duty to ensure that persons in South Africa are correctly documented, reside in the country on a lawful basis and acquire documents and status lawfully. It has standardised systems relating to the detection, detention and deportation of illegal foreign nationals in South Africa.

The Minister of Home Affairs will soon explain in more detail the department’s approach on this important matter of immigration and asylum-seeker management. He will shed more light on South Africa’s implementation of systems for managing processes relating to asylum and undocumented migrants, among others.

Citizens and all other persons in the country are strongly advised to ignore this false alarm that is seemingly seeking to fuel tensions in the country, at a time when priority is given to economic development, creating jobs and fighting poverty and inequality. It is in the best interest of the country for government and citizens to do all in their power together to work for stability and peace, while combating illegal migration and other crimes through lawful means.

The department had called for cooperation of citizens and stakeholders to ensure a safe and secure South Africa. It was in this spirit that the SA Cabinet had established an Inter-Ministerial Committee on Migration to focus on key migration issues and how they impact on the nation.

Hello judithomo please I don't understand this statement visitors Visa with authorization to study I will advice you to apply for study permit not visitors visa that will allow you to study.
