A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves."
2 Kings:4.2
So Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil."

Then he said, "Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors -- empty vessels; do not gather just a few.

"And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones."

So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought [the vessels] to her; and she poured [it] out.

INTRODUCTION:
Debt occur when something, usually money, is owed by one part (the borrower or debtor) to a second party (the lender or creditor) especially when it is becoming difficult to pay what is owed. Debt is a common problem in our society, and debts have a way of growing faster than expected. Anyone who comes to the realisation that he or she has taken on too much debt, becomes uncomfortable. The fear of the debtor may also overwhelm the debtor. It can also lead to psychological or emotional breakdown. Although, the bible neither expressly forbids nor condones the borrowing of money, the wisdom of the bible teaches us that it is usually not a good idea to go into debt (Proverbs 22:7; 2Kings 4: 1-7).

SOME LIKELY CAUSES OF DEBT

Debt can occur through different means. Some of the likely causes are: Poor spending habits, mismanagement of resources (Luke 15: 11-13), lack of employment or underemployment (2Thessalonians3:12), medical challenges (Luke 8:43), failed business/reduction in income (Luke 5:5a), living outside your means (Proverbs 28:19), lack of contentment, gambling, covetousness (1Timothy 6:8-10), gambling, divorce/widowhood/single parenthood (2Kings 4:1), expanding families, unexpected emergencies, unfavorable economic factors or inflation (2Kings 6:25), impulse buying (Luke 15:13-14), lack of financial knowledge or poor investment (Proverbs 23:5), a misunderstanding of needs versus wants (Luke 15:13), laziness (2Thessalonians 3:10b), education cost fraud, etc.

HOW TO AVOID DEBT

In order to forestall going into debt, believers should do the following:

1. Honour God with your financial/material giving ( tithe, offerings, first fruits, etc) and also help the needy (Luke 6:38; Proverbs 3:9-10, 28:27; 1Corinthians 9:7).

2. Develop a saving culture (Proverbs 21:20).

3. Prepare a budget based on your actual monthly income and actual expenses (Luke 14:28).

4. Avoid unnecessary/discretionary spending. Do not spend compulsorily on what is not your primary need (Isaiah 55:2).

5. Do not be idle/lazy, find something doing (1Thessalonians 4:11; 2Thessalonians 3:10; Matthews 20:6; Proverbs 6:9-11).

6. Be satisfied with what you have and avoid covetousness (Proverbs 15:16; Hebrews 13:5; 1Timothy 6:6)

7. Seek financial counsel and invest wisely (Proverbs 11:14, 14:22).

Any believer who is already in debt should do the following in addition to the points raised above:

1. Pray for divine intervention, then seek wise and godly counsel (2Kings 4:1-7; Proverbs 24:6).

2. Commit to making changes to drastically reduce your lifestyle expenses (Romans 12:2; Philippians 4:5).

3. Negotiate with your creditors for a possible review of the payment plan (Luke 16:5-.

4. Be committed to paying back what you owe (Romans 13:8a).

5. Maintain discipline in financial matters (1Corinthians 9:27).

CONCLUSION
Debt should be avoided as much as possible. However, as long as money is being handled wisely and debt payments are manageable, a Christian can take on the burden of borrowing if is absolutely necessary.

*LESSON INTRODUCTION*: In a bid to make ends meet, falsehood is fast becoming the order of the day. Just as there are internet fraudsters i.e scammers, quack practitioners etc, there are some minister' whose god is their belly (Phil. 3:19). Their false teaching/practices result in false churches which Jesus Himself called 'the synagogue of satan'- Rev. 2:9; 3:9. Believers must recognise false ministers and avoid becoming their victims of their antics.

A. On the surface, it is difficult to spot a false minister because:
i. Even Satan masquerades as an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:14).
ii. His ministers cover-up as servants of righteousness.
iii. They disguise in an attempt to deceive even God's elect (Matt. 24:23-27)

B. Some of the ways by which the bible describes false ministers can help true believers recognise them.
i. False ministers deny the divinity, sacrifice and humanity of Christ (1 John. 4:1-3, Matt. 16:15-16)
ii. Even when they minister or pray in ' Jesus' name', their hearts are far away from God (Matt. 15:
iii. Such ministers corrupt the gospel for selfish interest or to justify their immoral lifestyles (Phil.3:19, 2 Cor.2:17, Micah 3:11)
iv. Some called themselves into the ministry or sometimes derailed from God's call for their lives to deceive gullible people (1 John 2:19).
v. They do not preach the complete bible doctrines (1 Cor.15:1-4, Gal.1:6-9, 2 Cor.11:4).
vi. They are not just false in their ministrations, they are false in their (Matt. 7:15-20).
vii. Some replace the preaching of the gospel with motivational talks and philosophies of men (Col.2:.
viii. There are those who cause divisions among brethren (Rom.16:17-18).
ix. Others are out to exploit unsuspecting members (Acts 20:29-30).
x. They trivialise the matters of eternity, preach what people want to hear and hardly reach holiness, Heaven, hell, etc (Isa.30:9-11, 2 Tim.4:3-4).
xi. They usually perpetuate falsehood in the name of miracles (Matt.24:24).

He/she should retrace his/her steps back to Christ and cry for divine help (Matt.11:28-30, Psalm 46:1).

*INTRODUCTION:*
Unity is a powerful force in the universe; it can accomplish almost everything on the face of the earth. In Genesis 11:5-6 God said, that if the people on the earth were left with one language and as united as they were in building the city and tower, they will be unstoppable. The united are unstoppable; they are adorned with exploits. They achieve what others cannot. The death sentence on the Jews in the days of Esther was reversed by the power of unity as they cried unto God for divine intervention.

The King's Meat

1.I worship and Adore You, my Father, the revealer of deep and secret things.

2.Father, in anyway I have fallen short of your glory, please, have mercy and forgive me, in Jesus name.

3.Father, give me the grace never to join the multitude to sin against You, in Jesus name.

4.Father, empower me to live a life of total dependence upon You and You alone; let me never share Your glory with anyone, in Jesus name.

5.Father, let me never compromise my faith in You or defile myself with the King's meat or the filthy lucre of this world, in Jesus name.

6.Father, purge me from all unrighteousness and sanctify me holy, without blemish or wrinkle, for Your use, till I see You in glory, in Jesus name.

7.Father, consecrate me afresh to Your service and make me ten times wiser and better than all my enemies and colleagues, in Jesus name.

8.Father, empower me to look unto You for all my spiritual and material needs, and as I do, let my expectations never be cut short, in Jesus name.

7.Father, let me flourish like the palm tree and grow like the cedar in Lebanon, in all that I lay my hands upon in this world, in Jesus' name.

8.Father, please, make a way for me, in this wilderness of life, where there seems to be no way, financially, materially and spiritually, in Jesus' name.

9.Father, let all things work together for my good as I place my trust in You, in Jesus' name.

10.Father, bless your son, Pastor E.A.Adeboye, and reward him abundantly, for all his labours of love, in Your vineyard, in Jesus' name.
