steadygo: Your previous post on IQ contained points which you had brought up before in an earlier post and I had addressed. I do not need to keep restating and clarifying just because you bring up the same thing again, especially when it was not relevant to the point of my original post the first time around. I also do not have to take the time to go through all your many insults and accusations against me, and prove to you how they are unfounded. Nor do I have the time to dabble in insults with you. I absolutely have more important things to do. Steadygo, You swing at shadows and congratulate yourself for defeating them. You claim you have already addressed my points, yet your words carry no trace of battle. No refutation. No counterproof. No wounds delivered. If a man swings a sword, the steel must leave a mark. You left none. You speak of “more important things to do,” yet the only thing you have consistently avoided is the truth. It is not time you lack, but bravery. The battlefield of ideas requires spine, not schedules. I laid out the fracture lines of Nigeria: A nation held together by borders rather than belief Tribes that share land but not loyalty Religion in classrooms where inquiry should rule A people who defend identity more fiercely than progress These are not insults. They are pillars of the question you asked. You invited the storm, then hid behind the door when the thunder arrived. You say you will not engage in insults. I never asked for insults. I asked for answers. You delivered none. A warrior may fall, but he faces the sword. You turned your back and called it wisdom. Your silence is not victory. It is the sound a shield makes when it is dropped on the ground. If you can stand, stand. If you cannot, at least have the honesty to say so. The bridge remains before you. The truth does not move. |

Omoawoke: Then what’s this on your profile ?
You are 40, and after 4 decades on earth, this is the lowest thing expected of you….
If you insult people’s beliefs, it’s pardonable because belief was a choice
But if you insult people’s tribe/race/culture…. It’s unforgivable because no one chose their tribe or race, it was forged by the universe! You don’t want to err against the universe , do you? Son of fire? Exactly "yoruba men" not "all Nigerians" |

Omoawoke: You invited me to ‘go through your posts,’ but I don’t have that kind of free time. I checked your profile and it’s full of hostility, racism, and hate toward Yoruba people and Nigerians in general. That already tells me everything I need to know about the source of your arguments.
I responded to you earlier out of courtesy, thinking you were giving cultural commentary. But what I see now is someone who is emotionally charged, obsessed with provoking Nigerians, and projecting personal grievances onto an entire tribe.
Yoruba people don’t need to prove anything to you. We are not on trial. Your bitterness is not our identity.
Whatever negative experiences you had with individuals does not give you the license to label an entire culture. That is prejudice, not insight. You’re speaking as if you’ve understood who I am, but you haven’t even scratched the surface. My identity isn’t some shallow performance you can summarise from a profile. I am not a tourist here my life forged me long before Nigeria ever entered my orbit. I am Norwegian born, carrying Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish blood. A cultural hybrid by design, not by confusion. I wasn’t raised with walls I was raised with borders I had to cross alone. I was emancipated and legally on my own at 13. No family. No safety net. No tribe waiting to catch me. Sent to the UK and left to figure out survival the hard way. Most of my life has been spent around Africans, not Europeans. A Yoruba woman in Southampton made sure I stayed alive. She never controlled me, never told me who to be. She just made sure a young boy didn’t die or destroy himself. And she drummed one lesson into me not out of hatred, but out of pain and experience: “Never trust Yoruba men.” Those were her words, not mine. Life tested those words, and I learned she wasn’t speaking out of fantasy. By 15 I was travelling the world alone. By 21 I was a Royal Marine. My identity wasn’t gifted it was earned, mile by mile, scar by scar. I live by an old code, not the modern illusion people hide behind when it suits them. I am son of fire. I am truth given teeth. I am freedom that cannot be caged. I am wolfs kin I protect my own, always. So don’t talk to me about bitterness. I don’t need a tribe to validate who I am. I don’t cling to traditions that have lost their meaning. I don’t preach respect I refuse to practice. If something becomes irrelevant, I acknowledge it I don’t cosplay culture for ego. Your accusation doesn’t define me. It exposes what you refuse to face: identity without integrity is just noise. I know exactly who I am. That’s why you felt the need to question it. |

What has this judgmental yoruba man done with his life? Have you taken bullets to save innocent people? Describe what makes you humble? Describe why you think your arrogant people have the right to abuse other peoples religions, others peoples cultures, and people cant judge yours? Describe how a yoruba family can tell someone their egotistical need for prostration is higher than persons religion and you are humble, how you think that someone has to beg you and your families not get on his stomach at his wedding, how you think have the right to humiliate someone on one of the most important days on their lives? How you believe that you are only people in the entire country that believe you are above the law? The old English bulldog is where all these related breeds have that box head from just to give you a hint No, fella they all originated from the Staffordshire bull terrier and while Americans started making pitbulls from the Staffy to fight the British were turning the staffy into a nanny dog. |

Omoawoke: I understand that you’ve seen Nigeria from both the outside and the inside, so your perspective is different. But when you generalize Nigerians or insult the country, people will react defensively. Maybe your point is really about culture, identity, and the shift you’ve witnessed, but the way you deliver it makes it hard for people to hear you.
And just to add some balance: Yoruba culture has a strong system of honor, hierarchy, and respect on the African continent. We didn’t ‘lose’ our identity, we carry it in our language, our greetings, our names, our kingship system, our festivals, our proverbs, and our way of relating to elders and community.
If some individuals behaved badly toward you, that’s human weakness, not Yoruba culture. True Omoluabi values are still very much alive. So if we’re talking about clan heritage, discipline, and ancestral identity, Yoruba people are not lacking in that space. I have never insulted the country and i have never actually insulted the cultures. I love this country its absolutely beautiful and id give my blood to protect every inch of it. Its lies in the wedding cultures thats the problem what kind of people would lie about something so petty how 2 people choose to start a life together. You dont raise traditional kids at all anymore thats why the law says its a choice not an obligation and the bride price is enough to respect the culture anything beyond that is greed and ego nothing more and the bride price is not even a legal obligation. |

The problem lies in some parts of the country where’ there’s little exposure and people see all foreigners as racist and egocentric people that take advantage of them because they are Africans…. So that’s why some people may take sides against you and begin to show aggression to you without getting to know you… I live in the US and have friends and colleagues from different races and I understand everyone is different and should be treated individually. Some of the best help I’ve gotten career wise and professionally even came from people outside of my race when my own very Nigerians failed me….
I’d advise to make friends and network with people who ar are more exposed and you don’t need to listen to every aggression you meet online… the social media isn’t a real place . SkengRay: clown typing with Slangs has nothing to do with don't try to derail from your use of Chatgpt and your disconnection from your culture. I don't care if you're inlaws caused your pain and frustration from culture . You're moving away from logic here you should stick more to AI. And Yes I'm a free thinker I choose to do whatever I want to instead of throwing tantrums like you Look, Skengray, I’m done with this. I don’t care about your slangs or your “free thinker” act. You keep screaming culture and purity, but every time you’re offered a real moment to prove anything, you start ducking, dodging, and philosophising. That’s not confidence that’s panic dressed as pride. All your chatter about being immersed and shaped by your roots? Bruv, it’s just noise. You’re a cultural chameleon lost in slang and vibes, masking confusion as pride. Ain’t no “me Julie” ting or Channel 4 parody gonna save that. And let’s address the real embarrassment: When the chance came for proof a straight, recorded video call, both sides showing face, credentials, lifestyle you folded. No storms, no obstacles, no cultural rituals stopping you. Just excuses. You didn’t refuse because you’re “deep” or “free-thinking.” You refused because you knew the moment reality appeared, your whole performance would crumble. You talk heritage, but when evidence knocks, you vanish like Danidosky all noise, no showing up. That’s not Yoruba strength. That’s not cultural pride. That’s keyboard courage and poultry heart. Fam, listen G, I’m proper done. Stop the big talk, stop the flex, innit. You chat like a warrior, but when it’s time to stand on something solid, you turn feathered and flighty. Man can’t claim Ogun’s blood while moving like a chicken that just escaped Tesco’s deli counter. Safe, Skengray, proper respect, but this convo? Finished. End of line, fam. You clucked out. |

Every word you drop, you twist tradition into some cartoon gangster remix. Your “Me Julie” wife ain’t gonna be queen, she’s gonna be loud vibes, and you’ll pretend dat’s pride instead of admitting it’s pure chaos. Perhaps if you had come from a Rich lived-in Culture you'd have had a better understanding. Yo Skengray, listen G, you chat bare mix of words but bruv, it’s peak hypocrisy innit. You talkin’ like you some “free thinker,” dropping traditions you don’t like, keepin’ the ones you do but bruv, that’s not freedom, that’s cherry pickin’ and runnin’ from responsibility, fam. You say you grew up inside it, shaped by it, raised by it, carryin’ it anywhere but actions speak louder. Bruv, the same culture you flex like gold plated? You twist it to fit slang, jokes, and your ego. That ain’t respect, that ain’t heritage that’s cosplay with a Croydon accent. And you chat like my experiences and observations mean nothing, yet your own words prove it’s all about what you pick’n choose. “Not all my traditions I hold on to” fam, that’s just convenience, not wisdom. You cry “free thinker” but you ignore the weight of culture, the values, the discipline, the respect it requires. Bruv, slang don’t make you modern, disrespect don’t make you clever, and cherry pickin’ don’t make you a free thinker. You just showin’ everyone how loud and messy ego looks when wrapped in fake pride. So stop flexin’ “free thinker” like it’s a badge. Omoawoke: What’s happening here
@Fenrir I am curious, what made you relocate to Nigeria , what’s the catch? My little girl begged to learn about her mother’s culture so she could feel proud and connected. Her mother was Yoruba, but she passed away from cancer when my daughter was 2. Now, I am married to a wonderful Igbo woman. The heartbreaking part is that after all her hope and excitement about her mother’s side of the family, my little girl came away disgusted. Last year, she met some of her Yoruba relatives. They were abusive to her, and I had to defend her, breaking one man’s hands. Over the past 20 years, the most frustrating change is this: before social media, weddings were genuine. Families were humble and gracious, taking the bride price with respect and gratitude because it was a fair expectation. Now, so many people lie about weddings and treat the process as a display of ego and status. Nigeria used to feel like a safe haven for me an escape from the madness of Europe and the horrors of military life between tours. It’s heartbreaking to see how quickly social media has shifted people from being humble and welcoming to being self-centered, narcissistic, and ego-driven. |
