My candid opinion: 1) To reduce cost for you in general, since there are so many good architects here, auction out the design. i.e tell us the plot size (length and breath of the land). Then interested parties can submit their preliminary designs in like a week. This way you can choose a good and cost friendly design.
2) I read you want your mom to supervise the project. This is only a good idea if she's in the construction industry. If not, handing out a construction project to someone not knowledgeable enough in the industry might be a problem. Because they will most times good for materials with cheap price without taking into consideration the quality of the said material. Trade secret: it doesn't matter whether you're supervising the project with a Hawkeye, if the contractor wants to cheat you, he will. It's advisable to give the project to someone that knows his trade.
3) Prices of materials always hike during this period and beginning of each new year, don't know why. So you might want to wait for the price to come down before embarking on the project

Brother, according to CBN, all forex transfers should go to Dormicilliary account ($€£). The policy does not allow bank to convert the dollar to naira at the low rate (386) and deposit in your naira account.

Try to open dorm account and do direct transfer to that account. You can withdraw dollar at account and change at aboki @470

We were dating before I left Nigeria. We've been dating for about three years. Sometime last year I got a new job in the US (I schooled there so it was easy), and moved away from the country. Until a few weeks ago, we talked nearly every other day. It's always fun talking to her. But lately, things have started to get a little rough because of something that came up, and which I would like to believe is not my fault.

Prior to dating her, since I was a kid in university, I made myself a few promises relating to women:

1. I will never pay a woman's school fees
2. I will never rent a house or apartment for a woman, nor furnish an existing apartment
3. I will never sponsor a woman abroad.

Of course, this does not mean that I won't buy a woman gifts (I do that regularly), or take her on a nice trip. I just do not envisage myself pulling a woman up the social ladder. I prefer she makes her own growth moves as it relates to finances or relocation.

I made these promises based on the fact that I expected that whomever I make a partner should be able to make something of their own selves. I do not want to be anybody's savior or anyone's get-out-of-jail card. This resolution has made lose a few women in the past who thought the relationship should be based on what they can get out of it, and my girlfriend knows this.

The situation right now is that there is a path for her to come to America through studying. We already talked about her applying for graduate studies and then transitioning here into a better job. However, she now feels that would be stressful and may not work. Instead, she thinks it's better if I return to Nigeria this December to marry her and then sponsor her eventually to the US. That's not going to happen. This has created a rift and we have not been talking for a while now.

Am I being unreasonable here? How can I make her realize she can be her own person and not have to depend on someone else to "sponsor" her? It just drives me nuts that she knows this about me but is now vehemently insisting that this is the only viable option.

You're right regulations have made it difficult to transfer fx without documentation and even when you present invoice, they will tell you they still need to get approval from CBN & other regulatory bodies. However different banks deal with this issue differently and it's also a function of your business relationship and understanding the regulations.

An easier way is with the proceeds from invoice discounting, they make transfers.

Actually seems like what you’re referencing is not about the cash deposit source of inflow BUT the documentary requirements .

Invisible payments require invoices and in some cases NOTAP or other regulatory body approvals . Some require service contracts etc

Payments for tangible goods on the other hand just require you state form M

Separate for machinery though

It is cash dollar deposit I mean.

Documentation is not the issue. The FCY transfer pending at UBA has a valid Form M attached to the transfer request. The only reply I get from UBA is that they do this transfer "in tranches", and that it will take awhile. It's over a month now.

It's quite difficult going around banks and their branches around my area asking them if they do FCY transfers. Access bank around my area said they don't do FCY transfers.

Someone told me I can fund the dorm account at GTB and make the transfer online. Not sure of this.

I have been studying this issue for a while now. It's quite noticeable when you drive around town. You see women and men with pronounced bulge. You must understand it is not peculiar to women alone.

My hypothesis from looking at the backbone structure - "S" structure gives a clue as to the cause of this bulge.

Any man or woman with a pronounced "s" backbone structure will definitely have the bulge especially when they gain weight. They can't hide it. The "deepened" lower back compensates for the frontal bulge.

Prior to pregnancy, the frontal bulge is there for the women with pronounced "s" shape, it gets quite an attention after pregnancy when there is higher deposit of fat around the mid-frame.

I am sorry to say, if she has a pronounced "s" shape backbone, then she can't really have a flat tommy. But the good thing is she will have a "stick up" buttocks due to the "s" shape.

I have been suffering with UBA for months now. They have refused to process FCY remittance for a month now. Access helped me last month, though I had to present invoice from oversea company. Access brand at LASU refused to help saying they don't do FCY remittance on deposited cash. It was another branch that told me to process it online.

There isn't any coherent policy on this. It's different from branch to branch.

I wonder if GTB is any good?

I was wondering when this news will come to the public domain.

There is an ongoing battle between truck owners and exporters, some trucks have been carrying export containers for 40- 60 days because of the inability of the shipping lines to receive these containers.

The shipping lines are relying on a directive from the CBN that every NXP (export declaration) must be confirmed by them (CBN) even though the exporter have evidence of this declaration in the form of a CCI.

Exporters have incurred a huge amount of extra expenses renting open fields and hiring cranes to drop these containers until these approvals are confirmed. This is in addition to the huge amount for transport to the terminal especially Apapa and PTML. It costs over 700k and at least 2 weeks to transport a 40" container to either terminal.

After all these, the CBN expects the exporter to repatriate the dollar proceeds and sell to the bank at 385.

We are not serious in this country

Just wondering why CBN no simplify the process of getting the declaration? E for good if na something they can apply on the single trade portal and also get it approved in a day or two.

I think what happened in mazamaza led to the widespread of warehouse looting... That been said, I was in the area when it happened and I can say that a fair amount of those looted items were returned. A lot of people with good conscience forced those looters to return the items. Landlords forced their tenants to return them. I saw parents returning what their kids had stolen.

I was quite disappointed when I saw people moving with the items. But my mood changed when they started returning it at the busstop.

The northern regional economic interest must not be allowed to supercedes the safety needs of people who live around gas lines areas.

It's sad! We,the government, are the problem. There is a pipe running through back of diamond estate ISHERI to Ikeja. The whole lane was a green belt - canal with trees and shrubs. These dckheads have bought up all the lands there and are building on the pipeline. You just wonder, what's fundamentally wrong with these people? How do you buy land at such a place? The whole area smells of petrol. The pipes are old and leaky.

The dckheads aren't poor folks looking for a cheap land to setup shacks.. These are the rich. They building residential apartments there; I guess for let.

Wouldn't it have been nice if we used that whole green corridor as a lane for joggers, stretching from Ikeja to where ever it ends?
