Tkester: Sensationalism is just the hallmark of APc.
Assuming without conceding that Saraki is guilty as charged, how will his prosecution bring about the turn around we have always yearned for in Nigeria. Sometimes I feel this govt is lacking in vision and strategy, no economic policy, no single policy direction, after 100 days of governance, yet all they do is to pick fight they will not win.
I'm also thinking that this Sarikigate is a ploy to pass on the inefficiency in this administration to the Senate leadership. We know that Saraki will most certainly fight back, because he's got the support of the PDP senators, so when he starts fighting back, it will be a case of the senate frustrating the efforts of the president - I want us also at that time to remember that Buhari started this dirty war game. As is in any democracy the executive branch will most certainly want to have a normal working relationship with the legislative. Wailers Association of Nigeria |

@dynamo1 Something similar happened to me with British Airways from Abuja to London. Due to technical reasons, Our flight was cancelled and we were lodged in Hilton Hotel with free dinner and breakfast for passengers. We were even compensated with 50 Pound voucher. I cannot foresee Arik Air doing that in Nigeria even for a return trip from Lagos to London. Nigerian Airlines are pathetic doe. |

lyfe: I do not see why some people are taking this issue personal, the OP's position is "Reasons Why You Should Travel Abroad For Greener Pastures If You Get The Chance" and he backed it up with some obvious facts, so people painting America as a country with racism, immorality, and injustice tell me if all these are not witnessed in Nigeria on daily basis. I am not saying one country is better than the other, but most developed countries provide the enabling environment for whoever wishes to reach the pinnacle without cheating or knowing anybody at the top because your hard work will speak for you. Spot On Bro. You don't need to know anybody at the top as everything is based on Merit. |

1forall: ^ Thanks for spelling things out, great stuff!
I see you were referring to a combination of both white and blue-collar skills. I have a friend too from my university days who graduated with a 2.1 in Economics, bright guy. He's into carpentry now in Lagos but of course does it with a difference. My mechanic in Lagos is also a graduate. He speaks great English and his wife works in a bank. I enjoy going to his workshop because I learn a lot about automobile technology when I'm with him. Whenever he tells me about the cash volume of transactions he handles I simply don't shout. See, the thing about graduates that go into tradesmanship is that they stand out well above their peers because of their education.
I believe those who these things concern would learn a thing or two from your post and following from that I would like to add:
* No one can get that 'dream' job if their spoken/written English is poor. English is the language of corporate business in Nigeria and can't be avoided.
* It appears the prevalence of smartphones is causing a slow decline in the acquisition of real computer skills (and even intelligence - we'll argue this another day) and the youth need to recognize that expertise in using online social media is not equivalent to having computer skills.
* If an individual does not identify his purpose in life and pursue it, he would simply live life wasting away; or helping another person to achieve theirs. You are so on point there. These days certificates do not get you jobs, but Vocational and Technical Skills do make you self employed. I had a friend who went to the UK to study a Masters Degree some few years back. Along the line he started taking multimedia and photography classes during his holidays. He recently relocated back to Nigeria and today he is a big time photographer. Our graduates need to acquire other skills such as, carpentry, interior designs, automobile repairs, baking and so on to make them stand out and self employed. |

Most of our graduates are Unemployable and Lazy. They Lack the necessary Skills relevant for today's competitive Labour Market. |
