Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Armed Robbers, Cultists, Witches,Demons Fear Some Christians But Not All? by firearcher: 5:49pm On May 26, 2024

Okay. Don't go to the Sambisa. Just try to stop a robbery operation in a bank. If you have the power to be feared by armed robbers, you have to put the power to God's work. If you don't use such power to save lives by stopping robbery in a bank, you are abusing the power.
No. That is also being presumptuous. If Christ with all his power will avoid those who are trying to kill Him (John 7:1), who are we not do. You do not deliberately and voluntarily expose yourself to danger and expect God to step in, especially if you are not a Christian that fully fulfills the conditions for divine protection and deliverance

This man is acting like a shortsighted fool. If you cannot prove something with sufficient evidence, you either hold your peace or go back, bid your time and gather sufficient evidence whenever another opportunity presents itself. Otherwise, you will just turn yourself into a loony conspiracy theorist among sane and objective people.

Has he ever given it a thought that if he ever wins an election in the future, someone else can adopt the same position towards him. At that time, he will be the one claiming he wins and criticizing others of not accepting the result.

You and the booster should join the military and get posted to the North to fight Boko Haram so that your point will be proven.
That's being presumptuous. Go where you are not meant to be or do what you are not supposed to do, and you are likely on your own.

God's divine protection and in fact all of God's promises are conditional - something sadly not properly taught or obscured by many men of God.

Define amicably. Doesn't it boggle the mind that we are still talking about negotiating a 2009 agreement that govt keeps running away from? Multiple attempts by ASUU to get federal government to make good on signed agreements and they are still called names. If government is sincere these demands by ASUU will be met by sundown. I doubt earned allowance owed is even up to half of 90bn but they rather spend on Hajj with zero returns on investment
Amicably means without striking. If strikes didn't work over these many years, I wonder if it will ever work. Strikes probably had more bite many years back when we had only public universities. But now?

SportsRe: Your Thoughts On CAF's 2-Legged Final Play-Off? by firearcher: 2:23pm On May 21, 2024
I understand CAF's position. Football is money. CAF will definitely make more money and fill the stadium for each final match using this approach. They get to the chance to earn double for tickets, TV rights, etc

Unlike Europe, fans in neutral venues don't turn out enmasse to watch clubs from other countries, except if maybe they want to throw the stadium open for free. They certainly won't pay premium price. If there are renowned stars in both team, maybe they might attract some fans but beyond that, forget it. Except if their governments will cover the cost which is often the case.

And the finalists fans? How many can afford to travel? Africa is also big and international travels is still a lot of headache.

Regardless however, I don't like the idea of a 2-legged finals. We have tried it before and the home-win at all cost was the order of the day. Officials and players are all placed under undue pressure and the North Africans are the worst at hosting such finals.

CAF should explore other opportunities and options before reverting to this outdated practice.

PoliticsRe: Oluwatoyin Madein: Tax Now Highest Revenue Source To Federation by firearcher: 10:09am On May 15, 2024
Lol. I always smile when Nigerian commentators claim tax payers money on TV because I know the Nigerian government at national and subnational levels largely don't rely on tax revenue. They rely and depend on oil money. And I guess we are cool with it as long as government doesn't disturb us for taxes.

And that's why most can spend and steal anyhow because they really didn't work for it and their citizens also cannot seriously claim that their "tax payer" money is being mismanaged and stolen. What they can claim is that politicians alone are stealing "common wealth" forgetting that this "wealth" is coming from a part of the country and we are only laying claim to them by association in this union called Nigeria.

When Nigerians truly start parting more with their hard earn money in form of taxes, we will start holding our government more accountable.

We must learn to punish bad behaviour in Nigeria to deter others.

Here is a business owner admitting he had to count his losses.

On the contrary, we saw someone who arrogated public land to himself. He lied about his worth of investments being demolished. He claimed what he built in 6 years, was demolished in six hours and he miraculously rebuilt in 6 days.

What is 666 again?

When he arrogated public land to himself, some Nigerians took his side against public interest.

Now that it became clear he lied about the worth of what was demolished, we all move on and he said he is open for business.

He did not apologize. He is not accountable. And we move on.

He misled the public. He ought to be arrested or fined to serve as a warning.
Lol. That man even fail to realise that when that road is completed, his business will also benefit from the number of businesses and people that will now operate, travel and move along that corridor.

If not for the construction, how many Nigerians even knew the business exist there. Now compare it to when that place opens up completely.

He is short-sighted and above all selfish like some of our politicians who are probably his cronnies. They will willingly sacrifice the greater good for their own selfish interests

The same people claiming this money has been stolen without any evidence are the same people who would condemn the Lagos-Calabar coastal road arguing that the government has no money and it is not a priority to execute those kinds of projects.

Most of our government will claim they have no fund and can't executive capital projects which is often not true. They will rather spend money on their selfish interests and at best little micro-projects here and there which often does not positively impact the larger society.

For whatever reason they have decided to embark on this one, let them go ahead and do it
PoliticsRe: Coastal Road: Leave The Talk, Let's Face The Business By Olusegun Dada by firearcher: 7:50am On May 07, 2024
There's nothing like having a visionary leader. If our past leaders are visionary, honest and bold enough to pursue their visions, we won't be struggling the way we are today as our population increases and demands on current infrastructure reach breaking point.

I wish this administration well. I am not under any illusion that this project will be completed without much challenges. In fact, I will be surprised if it takes the number of years its projected. But the key is starting and pushing forward, and one day in the future this will be completed. And our children and coming generation will thank us for it.

Many of these people who write rubbish are mocked outside of Nigeria. Go check out all of the current wealthy nations. They began by developing infrastructure. Whether the economy is in depression or not, we must put structures, roads, railways, and seaways in place. We keep shouting that food is expensive...while farmers complain about bad roads. Consider how much food, oil, and other large items will be transported by rail across the entire region. And then the road will be preserved.

Many people are just educated illiterates in Nigeria.

I don't like Tinubu, I am not his fan... but during the election, I said it clearly that he would build Nigeria like he built Lagos. However, we will have his boys everywhere. Thuggery will reign... and many other bad things. Nigerians prefer him, and they have him. Shikena. Make dem manage am. But building infrastructure is not out of place.

Nigerians are gluttons. They prefer palliatives. Or have them use magic to put food on their table. They do not see the economic value in constructing this railway and road. They will finish it by the grace of God. Tinubu does not have records of abandoned projects. He is a man who chooses a follower to replace him and keep his projects going. The evidence is still in Lagos. He has many flaws, but I believe we should let this phase pass.

To me, let them keep putting infrastructure in place. We have reaped too many benefits from subsidies. Let us make sacrifices for our children and generations to come. Let us sacrifice for them. Even these politicians are embezzling, and we can do nothing. As long as infrastructure like this exists, we will eventually be able to confront corrupt politicians and control corruption.

Finally, it is beneficial to have opposition. While I condemn those who oppose this project, I still appreciate them. Everything requires checking and balancing.

Let us move Nigeria forward.
I think past governments have hidden under the excuse of insufficient fund and priority to abandon development of new capital projects in this country. The fact that our country also lack continuity in government due to absolutely lack of shared master plan discourages most government from embarking on long term projects. So they focus only on repairs and reconstructions ignoring that the demand on infrastructure keeps growing as population and demand exponentially increases.

Truth is there is always never a good or perfect time to embark on such capital projects. That argument is the weakest one from my POV. You can argue for transparency in award, accountability, plan for continuity and sustainability of execution, etc. But to just argue that the project should be postponed into the future is not acceptable to me

Good advice. They should boycott it. Na so people criticise the blue rail and red line and made fun of it when it even when it finally launched.

There are many good infrastructural ideas on paper for decades that many politicians stylishly avoided claiming they don't have sufficient fund to prosecute or that it is not priority.

At the end the masses sees nothing but hear every time say billions don go

Hammylawali:
The loser of the election is not a futuristic politician. He never plans for the future. Because if he did anambra will be better industrialized, rather he claimed to save money for the states when he can actually invest in infrastructure and business he use to say up and down. Singapore 🇸🇬, Malaysia 🇲🇾 and Ukraine 🇺🇦 statistics is what he keeps telling people, but when he was there he couldn’t invest and attract such ideas to his states.
That coastal road is a great blessing to Nigerian southern states. Watch how investment will spread around that corridor easily, because distances to cover will reduce drastically. Companies that hardly leaves Lagos will easily start spreading along that terrain. We need to build futuristic infrastructure and not stuck to repairing roads of 1970’s.

Obi and his Arise news agents are failures and don’t have good plans for this country.
Exactly. When you see people downplaying all the potential benefits of this project, I know no explanation will make sense to them. Seriously, we have been stuck with governments that only believes in paying salaries and repairing infrastructures built many years ago when the Nigeria population and infrastructure need is not what it is today. They have no vision and no master plan.

Now we have a government that for the first time is embarking on a new and major infrastructure project in the south that will greatly impact many states along that corridor and we are busy attacking it and claiming it is not needed at this time. Do they think there will ever be a good time to pursue mega projects like this?
