Foreign AffairsRe: Ibrahim Traore Declares War On "Arabism" & Religious Extremism (Video) by firearcher: 8:38pm On Jul 19
Kobojunkie:
I doubt a democratic handover will happen while the country is still battling Islamic extremism. 😒😒
Then it looks like the military will be there for a long time. Stamping out Islamic terrorism is not something that can be rapidly executed because of its deep religious and ideological root - especially in a predominantly Muslim nation like Burkina Faso.

I also wonder if they need to have the military ruling for them to pursue this mission?

When is he handing over to a democratically elected leader?
CrimeRe: Oyo Abduction: We Took Operation To Rescue Victims Personally – IRT, SIS Officer by firearcher: 8:29pm On Jul 17
I remember the bible story where the rich man told Abraham to please send Lazarus back to the earth to preach to his family members so they can avoid ending up in hell like he did.

Abraham said something that used to baffled me as a child, he said there are prophets already on the earth to warn them, and that if they won't listen to those prophet, they will also not listen to Lazarus even if they knew he came back from the dead.

One would think that having seen all the amazing miracles Christ performed, the pharisees and others would accept His message. Mba, they sought to kill him. Even after he resurrected and the soldiers reported it, they bribed them to go and lie that His body was stolen.

It is hard to imagine how terrible an human heart can degenerate in the pursuit of its own agenda.
CrimeRe: Oriire: ISWAP Captured And Released Us- Olatunde Zaccheus (Video) by firearcher: 4:15pm On Jul 17
Short of the victims all getting killed, some people will never be satisfied. That shows us how terrible some people's hearts are.

The man also said many things and felt pained that some people are calling the whole episode staged. He also explained why the children were wearing native attires and shed light on other things.

People should get the full information themselves by watching or reading a detail account of the interview.
CrimeRe: Colleague Recounts Mary Habila’s Final Moments Before Death by firearcher: 6:52pm On Jul 16
No matter how fishy this may look, people should just be extremely careful before they accuse others of committing sins or crime they did not commit.
So that we don't experience same in our own lives.

The wisdom of the elderly is not outdated. How I pray that the young take heed.
CareerRe: Why Nigerian Employers Get Away With Paying Peanuts & Why We Never Talk About It by firearcher: 11:05pm On Jul 15
There are some businesses that can afford to pay more but pay less than they are capable of. Demands exceed supply for them so it drives down the cost (wage). It's free market principle.
Solution is to set oneself up to become more competitive by acquiring a competitive edge that forces business to pay more for the value you bring to the table.

Then there are small businesses that cannot pay much, not because they do not want to, but because of their bottom line. You either use them as a stepping stone to develop your competitive edge or you settle and be contented with what they offer.

Every case has to be considered in its own context.

Government forcing private business to pay a minimum however comes with it own unintended consequences and needs to be done strategically.
HealthRe: How Lagos Ambulance Travelled 24Km To Rescue His Baby by firearcher: 7:45am On Jul 15
I pray no one finds himself or herself in this kind of emergency. But if you ever do and there is a government number available to call, please do so and not let the cynicism and pessimism you see online discourage you from getting help that may be available.
PoliticsRe: Sowore Reacts To Arrest Of Prince Adeyemi: PFIPC Scandal, Biggest Cover-Up Ever by firearcher: 6:50am On Jul 15
No system is infallible - not when it's staffed by human beings.

People complain about Nigeria yet forget that even in developed nations, there are fraud and corruption too.

The recent fraud scandal in US Minesota has a fake NGO allegedly stole $250-350 million from the government. The investigation is still ongoing and as expected, the different parties in the US have dragged politics into it.

The good thing in our case is that this is now exposed and worst case scenario stopped. The next thing is to investigate and bring everyone involved to justice.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Breaks 46-Year Ajaokuta Steel Jinx As NNPCL Signs 20-Year Gas Supply Deal by firearcher: 1:47pm On Jul 14
Some Nigerians are allergic to good news.
I say some, not even many - and that's a good thing. I remember when Dangote refinery news broke, many doubted but today, it's a different story. So many other projects have materialised despite cynism and pessimism from some quarters. It does not hurt to be hopeful.

And in worst case scenario according to Mark Twain, the pessimist may be proved right in the long run, but the optimist has a better time on the trip.

RomanceRe: “virginity Doesn't Make Someone A Wife Material” – Chiwetalu Agu Shares Deep Adv by firearcher: 5:40pm On Jul 13
Truth is it takes lot of self control, assertiveness, patience and self respect to keep virginity, especially if there is nothing physically wrong with the lady.
Those are qualities that also sustain a marriage. Yes it's does not guarantee marriage success, but it's a good contributor

TravelRe: We Can’t Afford ₦18 Million Cars — Cab Drivers Protest FAAN's 2020 Vehicle Rule by firearcher: 6:43am On Jul 13
So funny reading people who voted for their tribesmen attack others because they voted their own tribesman.

They will argue that they voted their tribesman because he is the best man for the job but can never agree that others voted for their own tribesman too because they think he is better qualified?

Everyone with their double standards and hypocrisy.

I can see how they will blindly defend their own tribesman if he ever ascend into power and attack anyone who dare criticise him from any other tribe.

But they will say they can never do that right - LOL
PoliticsRe: Physiotherapist Mary Habila Found Dead In David Umahi's Residence by firearcher: 2:38am On Jul 13
The first four paragraphs of the article are essentially the same. They offer no new information and could simply have been just one paragraph. Same thing happened several times in the remain paragraphs.

Does this writers have editors at all?

Hmm. Why not just come out and address the specific allegation directly. That yes, Moses tried out for the club but was not signed due to.....and that was Moses said is untrue.

That's a proper response.
TravelRe: Quality Of Work Being Done On Lokoja-Abuja Road (Video) by firearcher: 10:16am On Jul 04
At this point expecting to see politicians who won't make money - directly or indirectly - through their politics is a tall order.
What to best hope for is that after it's all said and done, there are infrastructure and amenities left in place that will truly serve the people for generations.
Having politicians make money and still not doing anything sustainable for their people is a double tragedy
PoliticsRe: VDM Says Seyi Makinde Paid Kidnappers Yet Oyo Schoolchildren Still In Captivity by firearcher: 9:42am On Jul 04

PoliticsRe: It Will Be Over For Tinubu, Momodu Outlines Atiku’s Strategy For 2027 by firearcher: 11:10am On Jun 20
I guess some Nigerians do not realise yet that election time is big business for political jobbers.
At the end regardless of who wins or loses, many of them are going to cash out big time.

It's self interest before anything else. And I hope the people themselves also vote with that in mind - not emotionally, but with cold calculation.

CrimeRe: IGP Disu Orders Vehicles Without Number Plates To Be Impounded Over Insecurity by firearcher: 2:09pm On Jun 10
Know someone kidnapped with a vehicle with dark tinted windows and no plate numbers.
It's so depressing seeing a lot of them driving around in town now without any care.
And now when she sees any tinted vehicle without plate numbers anywhere around her, it triggers her fear with emotional reaction.

We are our own worst enemies. It's high time the government puts in place a comprehensive plan that link plate numbers to NIN and create database of every vehicle using dark tinted screen. Every deterrent to this criminal pursuit should be explored.
CrimeRe: Oyo Government Demolishes Building Used As Kidnappers’ Hideout (Photos) by firearcher: 2:45pm On Jun 08
I don't understand the rush to demolish the building when those people have not been successful prosecuted. Any chance that there could be stuff hidden there that could be key evidence in the future?

At this junction, maybe every landlord and agent must be made to notify the government and document their tenants when they rent out their apartment.

There should also be an hotline people can safely call to report suspicious behaviour without being harassed or intimidated by the Police.

Christianity EtcRe: “will Kidnappers Kidnap The President’s Son?” — Oyedepo’s Remarks by firearcher: 1:33pm On Jun 06
Truth is most president or top politician families anywhere in the world have special security details attached to them. It comes with the office.
PoliticsRe: Makinde Meets Families Of Abducted Oyo Teachers & Students, Promises Safe Return by firearcher: 8:49am On May 31
The prayer is to prevent this from ever happening. Once it happens and they have the victims, it becomes extremely difficult to rescue the victim without risk to their lives.
Victims families and loved ones will literally beg security agencies not to interfere if they thought giving in to the kidnappers demand is within their ability.

My concern is the fact that even after victims are released, the security agencies still seems to be bereft of ideas on what to do to apprehend the criminals
