Transformerless inverters are equally good....they can power all type of load. My 5kva felicity hybrid inverter powers my whole flat. I cook, iron and pump water with it. Reliable and has a low idle consumption
Inverters are Power-Conversion Equipment, they do not GENERATE Power of/on their own.
5KVA Inverter simply means it can CONVERT as much as 5KVA of DC Power, to 5KVA AC Power, assuming a Power Factor of 1.
(and does some 'switching' jobs as well)

In the day time, it is your Solar Panels that are actually Powering your equipment, your Inverter is just converting the panel-supplied DC Power, to AC Power.
At Nigh time, it is your Battery that is supplying the power, not your Inverter.

I believe that all the above Items are not powered up at the same time (Pump = 1500 -2000W? Iron = 2300W? Cooker = 3000W? shocked shocked ), Most likely you are staggering them.

Good day my oga's in house please I need help and advice I have solar setup two 5kws of Felicity lithium batteries in parallel 5kva 24v inverter two cc mppt 80am and 100am Felicity 12 panel of 370w each,1500w continuous road
Now my problem is the battery is short down around 8pm in night. when the sun set around 430pm in the evening in bright weather.
Please my engineer's In the house I need advice
I would think anything above 3kVA should be 48V setup, to reduce loss due to heat and/from high Current!

What is your total/continuous load? (1500W?) (Is this Night time continuous load or just daytime?)
10KW Felicity might be something like 8KW in reality grin
Can you measure the Output from your Panels?
When did this start? Since you installed the Batteries or recently?

What is the Solar Panel setup arrangement ? (all in Series or 2p6s)
Do you use the Solar Setup DIRECT, during the day time (because if you do, 4440W Panel in total, if we remove losses in wire, shading, etc might be supplying not more than 3000W.
What portion of this do you use in daytime and what portion is left to charge your Batteries?

At 1500W continuous load, your battery should last around 8000/1500 = 5hr.30mins approx (assuming 8KW real battery Power)

Looks like your Batts are not fully charged and it cant carry your load through the night.
Felicity LipoFe4 is a "Closed System" otherwise, l would have suggested that you interact with your BMS by way of Bluetooth and see the state of Charge/Discharge of your Cells.
Reason why l dont like all these "preoperatory systems" of LifePo4.

Let us also hear from others with more insight

We have spoilt so many things in this country because of cheap labour.

we all have to admit it. solar is expensive.nor be all this corners wen we de cut
Cost of Labour is a function of Cost of Living and Earning Power, in any Economy, Nigeria is No Exception!

If Labour were to be Price Higher, then the Cost of the Final Product will be Higher.
If Cost of Product is Higher, then the Income of the Buyer has to be Higher.

In an Economy were the Basic Wage is #30,000 per Month (and some are still paying as low as #10,000!), Cost of Labour can only be as Cheap, for it to be affordable.

Can anyone in Nigeria, pay the Equivalent of $3,000/2,500 Euros PER MONTH (#1.5Million), for a three bed Flat, as they pay in those economy where Cost of Labour is High? grin grin
That is #18Million Per Annum, while we pay #1M Per Annum for the same type or even a better Flat, here in Nigeria.

If l may also add, Solar is not expensive, it only seems so here in Nigeria because we are too lazy to use our brain to manufacture anything and the Govt is populated by a bunch of mediocre who are only concerned with Looting the Treasury.

What does it take to produce Solar Panels in Nigeria?
Dont we produce Batteries
(Berec Batteries, Exide Batteries) in Nigeria, in the 70s/80's?

These are the two major expense in Solar Setup, if we set our priorities right and stop enriching China, every house can have a Solar Panel and Batteries for backup at night.

Please forgive my rant, e just dey vex me at times.

I have a hybrid Gennex 5kva in use now for more than a year. Being used commercially and as I suspect, being abused at my back regularly ( being overloaded with pumping machine/2 ACs until it trips etc). I have timers on the equipment to synchronize use, but it kept being overidden for one reason or another.
So, I am already looking for a not too expensive replacement in case. Moreover, i need a backup as least but Deye is out of my pocket range now.

What will be your choice as per capacity, capability and costs between:
1) Gennex
2) Epever
3) Sorotec
4) Growat

By the way, my solar panels (12 pieces , 300w, Canadian solar) are configured for a high voltage cc (450v max input) and I will prefer not to change that if possible.

I saw @ Earthrealm suggestion and I want to know people's view if cost of acquisition is also factored in.
Tanx
I have been using the same 5KVA Gennex Hybrid inverter (with 15Units of 585W Panels) for some time now, with No Issues at all.
They charge 32 Units of 280Ah LifePo4 Cells in 16S2P.

You can browse their Website linked below, for the different ones they have now.

https://shop.gennextechnologies.com/product/gennex-axpert-king-5kva-off-grid-inverter/

As per Cost, l think they are mid-range and value for money. @ #391K for a 5KVA, you cant beat that price!
I will even suggest you buy 8KVA, instead of 5KVA, since it appears that your consumption is already close to the limit.
I am planning on buying a 2nd Gennex Inverter as backup but it will be 8KVA for Certain.
One cannot predict Electronic items not to fail at all and having a plug-and-play backup "online" and ready to go is very germane, in my own opinion.

Caveat: I have not personally used Deye, so my opinion might have some in-built, unforeseen 'subjectivity'

I talking about resonance further away from Solar Panels (be it 3D or Monocrystal or Polycrystal etc.), coupled or split inverter systems is to further open people's eyes to better and cheaper configuration which Resonant Inverters can only make possible.

Anyways, I greet you all in SILICON.

worked for a while and stopped. Replaced with prag which still works till date
If it was still under Warranty, then it should have been replaced with a new One, depending on what caused it to stop working (I know some damages are not covered by Warranty) and if it was out of Warranty, then repairs should not cost almost close to the price of buying a New one!
It is good to hear that you are eventually sorted after that experience.

Hello,

Please what is the best DIY BMS to buy, I have been researching JBD and also Seplos for the 16S 280Ah lifepo4 battery bank I am planning to build.

What has worked for most people here and which is the best to go for?
If we judge by Popularity and spread of use, l think the Daly BMS is the best and most used .

But they can be pricey, which ofcourse, you would expect from a product that have stood the test of time.
I also think they are about the easiest to connect.
A Noob like myself, connected Two units of 200A Daly BMS to 32 St`rings of 280Ah LiFePO4 Cells (16S 2P) and they without any hitch!

But there appears to be cheaper variants of the Daly BMS as well though l will rather use the "original", if l can afford it and that is a personal policy.

Edit: reading later, what @NiyiOmoIyunade wrote and knowing that he does this for as a Business, l will defer to his opinion since l have not used the other variants and his experience will be very valuable in that regard,
so far, l am enjoying both Dalys, without any issue with them

gennex na scam. Company dumped me. Fixed my bad inverter and it didn't work at 100k. Returned it for proper check they billed me another 130k. Use them at your own risk. Better get another brand of Hybrid
Waoh!
I feel for you, on your bad experience with Gennex technologies.
Can you give us more details on how your Inverter went bad? What was damaged in it and what caused it?

What are you paying all these money for (#230K ! Is that for just repairs?), when the 5KVA VMIII inverter itself costs just about #395K or so ? (cant remember exactly how much l bought mine) .

I have friends who have been using their Inverters for over two years now, mine is about a Year old and not for once did it have any issue, despite the abuse l have put mine through because it was DIY all the way!
I have had Inverters (non-hybrid) in the past and the experience was not good but the current generation of Genex VMIII Hybrid Inverters are very rugged and all the reviews l have read so far, have given it very high marks.

And their response have been wonderful even as l bought all my Panels from them as well and these are very high end Canadian Panels (595W) x15. They were very supportive during the installation, despite the fact that they were not the ones that l chose to install it (Company Price!).

Anyway, I can imagine the stress you went through, What is beyond Six, is more than Seven, as they say

OH wow! Thanks for that tip. I had in mind that ALL equipments do have the surge. I guess my only concern then is my fan. Thank you.

BTW, I received delivery of my charge controller yesterday. I want to order for the attached inverter. Do you think it can serve for my said loads? Or would you recommend I buy a better and more reliable Pure Sine Wave inverter product here?
To be honest, l am not a fan of separate Charge Controller and Inverter.
I dont even consider it a cheaper option, in the long run.

Some say it gives them control over their PV aspect of their setup but it is like someone choosing a Manual gear Drive over and Automatic Gear Drive in a Car! When l bought my first Automatic gear Car in year 2000, all my friends said l am "mad" as l wont have "firm control" over the Car. about three years later`, following my experience, they are all converts of Automatic gear.

I think if you use a Hybrid Inverter, it is cheaper than buying them separate, it saves you money of cabling of the two separately and the hybrid has an efficient way of managing the two together and with more advanced Hybrids in the market, they have become more reliable and have large Charging Current range.

But since you have bought the MPPT Controller already, l will suggest you not restrict yourself to that small Inverter, if funds will allow, buy something like 1.5KVA, Pure Sine Wave Inverter, these things get obsolete, very quickly, in terms of your requirement .in the nearest future.
Sorry for the late response.

Good day to all the bosses in the house. I really want to appreciate the selfless contributions on this page thus far. I've gotten to a point where I need to delve into DIY solar power generation. Please I'd like to be guided with what my 700k budget can get for me for starters...I intend to go into solar fully but I want to start with this budget. Like for starters I'd be needing it to power 2 ceiling fans, charging of phones, a decoder, charging of a laptop. TVs and others can come in in subsequent upgrades.
Thanks as I eargerly anticipate responses
For a Hybrid Inverter, you might want to consider this 3KVA Hybrid Product from Gennex Technologies.

https://shop.gennextechnologies.com/product-category/inverters/

There is Certainty that their Products are Original, What you are buying is Original and you are not bothered or worried whether what you have is a lemon or just stuck with a "label".
Their 3KVA Hybrid @#220K is a good choice, in my own opinion
It can work without battery and has a factor of 1 (energy loss is almost Zero and it is a high Voltage Inverter that can take Panels to almost twice its capacity)

I use their 5KVA Hybrid Inverter and am about to. even Upgrade it to 8KVA, so l can go off the Grid completely.
It is very, very rugged and they are currently doing "SALES".
Their Panels are Original, "Canadian Solar", expensive but the best, in the market.
I have 9KW of those Canadian Solar Panels on my Roof right now.

The choice of LiFePo4 Cells offered by @Valto is a a good one.
You will need to buy a Daly BMS, say 8S, 100A (I am not sure if he has that in Store right now) or from China. (AliExpress)
And we can all guide you on how to set it up here.

Yes I suppose so. I understand surge power consumes up to at least 3 times the wattage at the initial before it goes back to consuming the normal one (which is 130w in this case). I may be wrong though.

So, assuming all my loads have this initial surge (say 1200w), am I still on the safe side?
uniqUN:
Wow. That's a lot. I guess I will have to load it little by little starting with the smallest and see how it goes. Thanks for your response.
Please note that it is not all Equipments that experience this "VERY HIGH SURGE", it happens with equipments that have Motors/Coil ONLY.

Russia says it had destroyed anti-aircraft missile systems supplied to Ukraine by a European state, without specifying which country provided the equipment.
Defence Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said on Monday Russian Kalibr missiles destroyed on Sunday four S-300 launchers concealed in a hangar on the outskirts of the central-eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro, hitting 25 Ukrainian soldiers in the attack.
Slovakia, which had donated such a missile system to Ukraine last week, denied that the one it supplied had been struck. The prime minister’s office issued a statement calling Russian reports that its S-300 system had been destroyed “disinformation”. It was unclear, however, whether both sides were referring to the same strike.

Slovakia supplied the ONLY S-300 it has, a symbolic show of force, for such a tiny country. grin
It did so because America promised to replace any country's Arsenal that was sent to Ukraine.
Even Poland wanted to use the opportunity to "UPGRADE" its Fighter Jets from the Soviet era MiGs Fighters to American F-16s, so it sent 29 of them to Germany, something needed next door in Ukraine, and asked America to take it to Ukraine by itself. grin grin.

America refused to send them to Ukraine by itself and asked Poland to come and carry its stuff, if it cannot send it to hi sneighbour that needs it. That day, l nearly died of laughter. grin grin

https://qz.com/2130711/electric-vehicles-make-it-harder-to-quell-fire-on-felicity-ace-cargo-ship/?utm_source=YPL

Lithium-ion batteries are fueling the fire on a burning cargo ship full of Porsches

The cargo ship Felicity Ace is aflame from bow to stern with a lithium-ion battery fire that can’t be put out with water alone.

The fire has been burning since Wednesday (Feb. 16), as the ship drifts in the Atlantic about 200 miles southwest of Portugal’s Azores Islands. Its 22-person crew abandoned ship and was rescued on Thursday.

The ship left Germany on Feb. 10 and headed for the US with about 4,000 Porsches, Bentleys and other luxury cars aboard, and some of those were electric vehicles. It’s not clear if the batteries contributed to the fire starting in the first place—a greasy rag in a lubricant-slicked engine room or a fuel leak are the usual suspects in ship fires—but the batteries are keeping the flames going now. A forensic investigation will take months to determine the cause.

On Saturday, João Mendes Cabeças, captain of the port of Faial, the nearest Azorean island, told Reuters that the batteries in the ship’s cargo are “keeping the fire alive.” Cabeças added that reinforcements with specialist equipment to extinguish the fire were on their way. At the time of the interview, the fire hadn’t reached the ship’s fuel tank, but was closing in.

Large quantities of dry chemicals are needed to smother lithium ion battery fires, which burn hotter and release noxious gases in the process.

Pouring water onto the Felicity Ace wouldn’t put out a lithium-ion battery fire, Cabeças told Reuters, and the added water weight could make the ship more unstable.

Lithium-ion batteries pose a special fire risk
Electric vehicle fires are rare, but pose their own kind of flammability risk, and one that becomes heightened as EVs go mainstream. Large numbers of EVs grouped together, as when they are transported by cargo ship, or electric buses parked in an overnight lot, raise the risk that one flaming battery could ignite a chain reaction in adjacent batteries. According to a research proposal at the National Academy of Sciences’ Transportation Research Board, “Lithium-ion battery fire risks are currently undermanaged in transit operations.”

There have been more than 35 large lithium-ion battery fires since 2018, Paul Christensen, an expert in lithium fires, told the Financial Times, including a 13-ton Tesla megapack storage battery in Victoria Australia that burned for three days. An electric ferry in Norway caught fire in 2019, and in April 2021, a battery fire at a Beijing mall killed two firefighters.

In addition, car-carrying ships and ferries can face higher risks from fires, according to insurer Allianz Global’s head of marine risk. Due to the internal areas not being divided to make it easier to transport cars, when a fire starts it can spread more easily.
